Chapter 508: Chapter 508: Hazy Illusion Realm

Liu Xi finally exhaled a long breath. The violet-gold scales that covered his body withdrew one by one, and the radiant wings behind his back folded away. In the blink of an eye, his appearance returned to its usual calm and handsome form.

But as soon as he relaxed, his steps faltered. Without the support of the Ancient Void Dragon Body, waves of pain swept over him. He swiftly swallowed a restorative pill, and only then did the aching subside.

"Qing Lin—here."

He tossed a jade bottle toward Qing Lin, who had just finished slaying her own Half Saint puppet and returned to his side.

Qing Lin caught the pill, saying nothing. Her emerald eyes lingered instead on Liu Xi’s bare upper body, her pale cheeks flushing faintly with color.

A short distance away, the Heaven Demon Puppet was not so fortunate. Its gold-and-purple body bore numerous dents and fist imprints—damage that would take time and lightning energy to repair.

After storing the puppet away, Liu Xi noticed Qing Lin’s reddened face and smirked playfully. "Now’s not the time," he teased. "Once we return, I’ll give Qing Lin her reward."

Qing Lin’s tongue slid lightly across her lips, and a mischievous gleam flickered in her eyes. "Qing Lin will remember that," she said with a bewitching smile.

Liu Xi chuckled. With a body now comparable to a high-ranked Magical Beast, he certainly didn’t fear being "drained" by this little vixen.

His tone soon turned serious. "Qing Lin, we’re heading toward the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree. Remember—no matter what happens, keep your heart firm. Lose focus, and you’ll end up like those five Half Saints—soulless, nothing but puppets."

Hearing that, Qing Lin’s expression sobered. She turned to gaze at the colossal tree towering thousands of meters tall and nodded solemnly. "Understood, Young Master."

Even for someone as brave as her, a tree capable of turning Half Saints into puppets was something to fear. The lifelessness and hollowness of those beings still lingered vividly in her mind.

"Let’s go."

Liu Xi took the lead, Qing Lin close behind. The two advanced slowly toward the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree, cautious and alert.

As they drew nearer, Liu Xi’s gaze flickered. He steadied his mind and silently warned himself:

’There’s an illusion here. If anything seems strange, it means I’ve fallen into it. I must stay aware.’

His Spiritual Power spread outward, vigilant for the slightest anomaly.

But everything proceeded too smoothly. Liu Xi reached the base of the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree without resistance. A refreshing aura wafted through the air, filling his lungs and clearing his thoughts.

Before him glimmered a sphere of radiant light—the Bodhisattva Heart, the treasure he had sought all this time.

It pulsed like an energy heart, exuding a temptation that stirred the deepest corners of the soul. It was as irresistible as the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

Excitement welled up inside Liu Xi. Step by step, he reached toward it.

Ten feet... five feet... three feet... one feet...

Eight inches... four inches... one inch...

The Bodhisattva Heart was within his reach!

A faint smile curved across his lips—but it was no longer his usual composed smile. It twisted strangely, his eyes flickering with an eerie light.

Then—

"Hiss!"

Agonizing pain erupted from deep within his soul, searing and absolute. It wasn’t physical—it was the kind of pain that clawed at the very essence of being. Liu Xi groaned aloud, clutching his head in torment.

"Ah—!"

His Dou Qi, his soul, his Heavenly Flame—everything within him surged chaotically. Ripples of destructive force erupted outward, slicing through the air like blades and shattering the very fabric of space.

The world itself cracked like a broken mirror, the illusion collapsing and revealing the true landscape hidden beneath.

"Huuh..." freewēbnoveℓ.com

Liu Xi gasped, sweat dripping from his forehead. ’If not for my unique soul,’ he thought, ’I would have been caught completely.’

"Damn it... even knowing there was an illusion, I still fell for it."

He looked up. The immense, sky-piercing Bodhisattva Ancient Tree was gone. In its place stood a much smaller tree—barely ten meters tall.

As he watched, its branches swayed gently, as if tilting its "head" in curiosity.

’Hmm? This human broke free from the illusion? How... interesting~ (-_-)’

Liu Xi’s eyes narrowed warily. He recalled that at the moment he had approached the tree, it had unleashed a dazzling light that enveloped him completely. Within that light, he had entered a white, boundless realm—then walked into a glowing circle and saw the Bodhisattva Heart before him.

Only now did he realize that the entire sequence had been fabricated. The memory of stepping into the illusion had been completely sealed.

Steadying himself, Liu Xi clasped his hands and bowed deeply.

"Senior, this junior means no harm. I seek only the path to sainthood. I ask for your guidance and permission."

As his words echoed across the plain, the emerald Bodhisattva Ancient Tree trembled softly. A glowing orb floated from its trunk, hovering before him. Within the orb, an image flickered—Qing Lin, still trapped in illusion.

"Senior," Liu Xi said solemnly, "please release Qing Lin. I am willing to make a fair exchange. Whatever you desire, I will not refuse."

The tree swayed again, and a second light sphere emerged. Within it appeared a massive Bodhisattva Ancient Tree—towering tens of thousands of meters tall.

Before the colossal tree stood a lone figure dressed in black, suspended in midair. From that person emanated an aura so supreme that even the heavens seemed to bow.

Under that presence, even the titanic Bodhisattva Ancient Tree seemed small and insignificant.

"This aura... that’s the power of a Dou Di!"

Liu Xi’s eyes gleamed with fervent longing as he stared at the shadowy figure. Though it was only an echo, the pressure it exuded made his very soul tremble.

There was no mistaking it—only a Dou Di could wield such majesty.

’This... this is the strength I seek!’

In the Ancient Era, Dou Di experts were not as rare as they were now. The world’s Origin Qi had once been rich and abundant. Anyone who reached the peak of 9-Star Dou Saint could attempt to break through.

But those days were gone. Now, the world’s Origin Qi was less than a hundredth of what it once was. Only in the Toushe Ancient Emperor’s Mansion was a fragment of that ancient energy said to remain.

Even so, mighty figures like Hun Tiandi, Gu Yuan, Xiao Xuan, Yellow Spring Demon Saint, and the Pure Lotus Demon Saint—all of whom had reached the Half-Step Dou Di—had failed to cross that final threshold.

They had touched the gates of eternity... only to perish when their lifespan ran out.

Liu Xi clenched his fists, his eyes burning with resolve.

He would not accept that fate.

He would become eternal.

He would never die.

He would ascend—

and become Dou Di.
