Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Fighting the Eldritch Alone
Luna stood on the bridge, her eyes locked tightly on the bow.
The moment the first skeleton fully appeared, she growled and unleashed The Fixing Gaze.
The red light pinned the skeleton in place. Kevin seized the chance and thrust his weapon through it, bursting the skull. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
At the same time, the prompt in Kevin’s ear chimed again: The Fixing Gaze usage count had replenished by ten.
So far, seventy-eight Eldritch skeletons had fallen to Kevin’s hands.
But he wasn’t planning to finish this trial with just that number.
If he could push the kill count to three digits, he might get a hidden reward.
With that thought, Kevin growled, gripped the Lance of Longinus, and charged toward the skeletons at the bow.
Meanwhile, above the roof of the bridge.
Stephanie gripped the railing tightly, cautiously peeked her head over, and watched the deck.
After watching Kevin tear through over twenty Eldritch skeletons without breaking a sweat, her heart began to race. Kevin is actually this strong... He’s so manly...
Stephanie whispered in awe, her eyes fixed on Kevin’s frame.
Every time Kevin drove the Lance of Longinus into a skull, her legs would instinctively press together.
The moment Kevin killed the last skeleton, Stephanie couldn’t hold it back anymore. Her breath caught, and she let out a soft, frantic scream. Kevin, you’re mine! I’m going to steal you away from every other girl! You belong only to me!
On the deck, Kevin panted heavily, staring silently at the sea around him.
After six full rounds of fighting, he had taken down seventy-eight Eldritch skeletons on his own. He had also gone through more than a dozen vials of Holy Spring just to keep his stamina up.
But just as he looked for another skeleton to toss overboard, he noticed something. The deck was littered with dropped gear, but there were no more corpses left.
"Damn it. The Holy Spear leaves no bodies behind when it kills Eldritch Entities," Kevin muttered, a bit annoyed. I should have let Amelia take a few kills too.
He walked back to the bow. The fog was still thick, but the red glowing dots hiding inside it were getting thinner.
Obviously, his killing spree had cut down the number of skeletons surrounding the ship.
"I’m not done with you yet," Kevin muttered to himself as he ripped off two Ocular Barnacles. Let’s see if these two little baits can lure them up.
With a hard swing, he threw them. The two Barnacles splashed into the water like cannonballs.
Almost instantly, the water erupted.
Unfortunately, the red dots just gathered around the splash zone. They didn’t try to climb aboard.
Within seconds, the two Barnacles were torn to shreds. The sea went back to normal.
"Damn it. Am I really just going to quit on a three-digit kill count?" Kevin cursed under his breath and turned toward the bridge.
As he passed a pile of crates, Leo’s loud crying caught his ear.
Kevin looked over. Leo’s whole body was swollen, his face pale, and he was barely conscious.
The sight of him made Kevin’s eyes light up instantly.
He grabbed a vial of Holy Spring and forced it straight into Leo’s mouth and nose. freewebnovёl.ƈom
After downing the whole vial, Leo finally started coughing hard.
His eyes opened, and his mind slowly cleared. "I... where am I? Am I still alive?"
Leo stared at Kevin in front of him, frozen for a second. "It’s you... you saved me?"
Kevin looked at Leo’s messy state and grinned. "Surprised to be saved by someone you looked down on, huh?"
Leo snorted. "If you want to humiliate me, I’d rather die."
Saying that, he pushed up with his left hand, trying to force himself up.
But while the Holy Spring had cleared some of the poison from his body, it hadn’t fully cured his sickness or wounds.
Leo wobbled, then collapsed back to the deck.
He glared at Kevin, unwilling to give up, but finally sighed. "What do you actually want from me?"
"I just need a small favor." Kevin bent down, grabbed Leo by the collar, and dragged him toward the bow like he was hauling a skeleton corpse.
A dark red trail of blood cut across the deck, looking especially eerie.
Leo bit back the pain and roared. "Kevin, what are you doing? You can kill me, but you can’t humiliate me!"
Kevin stopped, looking down at Leo with pity. "I’m just asking for a favor. Don’t worry, I’m not going to let you die that easily."
His voice was cold as a knife, sending a chill down Leo’s spine.
At the same time, the three girls on the bridge watched the scene with growing curiosity.
Just as they wondered what he was planning, Kevin grabbed a rope and tied it around Leo’s waist.
One kick.
Leo, rope and all, was kicked straight into the sea.
Splash!
Water splashed everywhere. The seawater soaked Leo’s clothes, staining his whole body dark red.
Only now did everyone realize that the water of this terrifying sea wasn’t black. It was a deep, intense blood red.
Seeing this, all three girls were completely dumbfounded.
Amelia’s eyes went wide. She snatched the walkie-talkie from Luna’s hand and shouted, "Kevin, what are you doing? This is murder!"
Kevin heard the voice from the walkie-talkie on his waist and replied coldly. "I just saved him. His life belongs to me now. If I hadn’t given him Holy Spring, he’d already be dead."
Before he could finish, a cry of pain rang out from below.
Kevin looked down. Leo, soaking in the seawater, was screaming in pure terror. "Let me up! What are these things? Kevin, please, let me up!"
Hearing Leo beg, Kevin’s memories of his past life involuntarily returned.
Back then, when Bella and Joseph, those two bastards, threw him overboard, Leo had just stood there laughing at his misfortune.
He even shot the only lifebuoy on Kevin’s body when Kevin called for help.
Remembering all this, Kevin’s gaze turned cold. "The revenge has just begun. Dying is not going to be that easy."
Saying that, Kevin pulled his wrist hard. Leo was yanked out of the water and slowly hoisted up toward the deck.
At the same time, the Eldritch Entities that Leo had just lured began rushing toward the ship in a frenzy.
The skeletons, once scattered, soon swarmed toward the ship like a single pack.
One...
Two...
Thirty...
A total of thirty-eight skeletons. Without waiting for turns, they poured over the edge and scrambled straight onto the deck.
Kevin saw this and his brow tightened. "This is bad."
He didn’t expect using a live person as bait would lure Eldritch Entities onto the ship so effectively, but it seemed to break the world’s rules for them.
Now, the skeletons climbing onto the ship were no longer limited to thirteen.
Thinking he was about to face thirty-eight Eldritch skeletons at once, Kevin gripped the Lance of Longinus tighter.
He picked up the walkie-talkie and shouted toward the bridge. "How many Holy Springs are left on the bridge?"
Almost instantly, Amelia’s voice came through. "Kevin, Luna already used the last Holy Spring a while ago. She pushed herself too hard and passed out."
Hearing this, Kevin’s neck tightened and he gritted his teeth silently. "Damn it!"
He looked at his wristwatch. He had fifteen minutes until midnight, and only six Holy Springs left in his hand.
To fight this group of Eldritch skeletons, he had to stay at peak condition at all times.
Otherwise, even with The Fixing Gaze, he couldn’t maintain peak power to kill thirty-plus skeletons in one hit.
With that in mind, Kevin decided to wait until midnight when his talent refreshed before acting.
He looked up and yelled at Amelia. "Soak the bullets in Ocular Barnacle blood, and hold the bridge!"
Hearing those words, Amelia froze for a second.
But soon, terrifying roars rang out from the darkness all around the deck.
Skeletons climbed onto the deck one by one.
This was different from before, when skeletons only came from the bow, never exceeded thirteen, and arrived in waves.
This time, the Eldritch skeletons seemed to have no rules left, swarming forward from all directions at once.
Seeing this, Amelia’s expression turned serious instantly.
She reached out of the bridge window and ripped an Ocular Barnacle off.
Then she quickly cut it, blood splattered everywhere, and dropped it all into the box of bullets Kevin had given her.
Almost instantly, the bullets glowed with an Eldritch red light.

Amelia ignored the dropping sanity number, quickly grabbed the bullets, and loaded them into her pistol.
