Chapter 126: Start Here
Nico
"Must everything always go your way?" she asked, her voice lowered even though the fire in her eyes refused to die.
She was still very much pissed and it was all she could do not to explode in anger as she looked at me, eyes searching even though I had no clue what she could possibly be looking for.
Signs that I was somehow a different man simply wearing Nico’s skin.
Something that was impossible.
"If I let them go your way, then won’t you always have your way?" I asked, fully aware of what I was doing as I let out a deep sigh before speaking again.
"I was wrong! Clearly the decorations and the insinuation of a date terrifies you. Next time, I’ll leave it at just dinner," I told her watching her slowly nod her head.
"As long as we both know where we stand," she said, picking up her menu and looking through it, gesturing towards the only servant who stood by the wall and instantly approached.
The servant waiting on us instantly backed away the moment she got our order even as we waited for it to be served.
Our conversation was cordial and neither of us so much as made an allusion towards anything that had to do with business or anything close to it.
Carmen talked about swimming which was a hobby she liked and hadn’t done in a while and I made mention of hunting and shooting ranges.
I enjoyed it, also something I hadn’t taken the time to enjoy in a long time.
The food came sooner than I expected as we each dove into the plates of food that had been individually served to us.
Carmen seemed to especially like her steak which was similar to what I ordered but with different sauce and side dishes.
The wine was one I had recommended and it was nice to watch her sip it over and over again in a way that made it obvious that she liked it a lot.
The night was peaceful.
We talked a bit more about what she intended to do once all of it was over, shocked to hear her mention having a family of her own.
"What? Is it really that surprising? I want children!" she directly told me with a smile that reached her eyes as she sipped from her wine glass.
"What about you? You don’t want one?" she asked me and how was I supposed to tell her that I had too many enemies to even envision the thought.
Even if I had them, it would be stupid for me to care about them and think they would live long enough to outlive me.
I had a long line of people that were desperately looking for weaknesses they could use against me and it would be stupid to think I could kill them all.
"Of course! One or two would be nice," I responded grabbing my own wine glass and taking a long sip of it.
The rich tangy taste in my mouth was sublime meeting Carmen’s gaze by coincidence but I didn’t look away neither did she.
With both of us having finished our dinner, it was clear that it was soon coming to an end.
Too full for either of us to order a second plate.
"I think together we can do it! I’ll help you as long as you don’t go behind me and try to kill me," she suddenly said after a long pause raising her gaze to meet mine even as I let out a low chuckle unable to help myself.
But she seemed dead serious, enough that it was clear that she didn’t like the stunt I pulled with the next of kin thing even if it was the smart thing to do.
I couldn’t protect her on a twenty four seven basis.
"I’m serious! If you betray me and try to take me down Nico, I’ll make it my life mission to destroy you," she said with such intensity that it took me everything not to reach forward and grab the back of her neck to kiss her until she was gasping for air and doing her best to push me away when it was all she wanted.
"I won’t!" I responded leaning back into my seat instead satisfied with looking at her as I took another sip from my cup. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"It might sound strange to you but there are no benefits to working against you. Only with you," I told her watching her nod even if it seemed like she didn’t believe me.
Raising my hands I gestured for the waiter to leave and all the other servants ordering them to do the same as I got to my feet and Carmen instantly got to hers.
Sending a wary glance at me like I had just picked up a knife and not that I simply got off my chair walking straight towards her.
"If dinner is over then I might as well leave..." she began to say but it didn’t matter lowering my lips against hers and kissing her until she was kissing me right back, her tongue darting into my mouth and around mine.
Pulling away to pull apart the blouse she had on as her hands slowly tried to stop me.
"This is the dining room and I’m pretty sure that that door is not closed," she said her breathing heavy but I didn’t care leaning myself closer to her as I whispered in her ears.
"We can do it here, or head to the bedroom and you won’t leave my room until morning," making sure she understood that I wasn’t forcing her to do anything against her will.
Merely pointing out the two options that fate had in store for her which she had no choice but to pick one.
Kissing the tip of her ears as my hands slid under her shirt and against her skin, moaning low with pleasure as I pulled her bra down and grabbed her breasts. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Left to me...I’ll prefer we start here,"
