Chapter 22: Surge

Cole worked tirelessly without stopping for a single moment. Under the A.I. chip’s guidance, he studied all twenty-four flaws. With his limited knowledge and the A.I. chip’s extreme observation, they were able to fix all the problems one by one.

Still, it was early morning of the next day when Cole finally finished refining the potion.

"This little thing had been giving me a headache for hours, huh..."

Cole raised the test tube filled with pale green liquid over his head. The morning light filtering through the open window struck the green liquid, giving it an otherworldly glow.

Just as he was feeling relieved, suddenly Cole’s body shook and a surge of intense current ran down his entire body, directly hitting the large metallic burner on the marble tabletop and blasting it to the side.

The sudden event caught Cole by surprise, almost causing him to drop the refined potion onto the ground.

This is bad...!

Cole’s thoughts surged at light speed. Without even thinking, he knew the Lightning Worm bloodline was on the verge of taking complete control. This thought had barely popped into his head when he immediately uncorked the test tube and emptied its contents into his mouth in one large gulp.

Immediately, like rain hitting the earth after an endless drought, Cole felt his mouth go dry before being filled with an intensely soothing sensation. From his throat, the extremely blissful feeling traveled all the way down to his legs in rapid waves, greatly helping in calming down the rampaging Lightning Worm bloodline.

[Name — Cole Saint]

[Bloodline — Thunder Worm | Fusion Progress — 40%]

[Authority — VIP]

[Strength — 9.9]

[Spirit — 9.9]

[Mana — 9.9]

[Agility — 9.9]

[Health — 9.9]

40%...!

The fusion, which had merely been at ten percent, had suddenly jumped all the way to forty percent, a giant leap. According to his previous calculations, achieving this much progress should have taken at least three more potions.

Not just that, all of his stats had hit the peak of the Nascent Trainee Realm. Usually, it would only be strength or mana based on the path that a warrior followed, but now all of his stats had hit the extreme of the Nascent Trainee Realm. Going beyond that, he would reach the next realm.

This was the result when the fusion was only at forty percent. What would happen when the fusion was fully complete? Cole could not even imagine.

The sudden windfall caught Cole by complete surprise. Once his excitement died down, his thoughts turned calculative, trying to find what had caused this sudden jump.

"A.I. chip, go through the refining process and find what increased the potion’s effectiveness."

[Going through the refining process step by step, ruling out ingredients, clue found... calculating...]

[Blood of Thunder-Calming Qilin.]

Seeing the A.I.’s evaluation, Cole’s eyes narrowed into slits. This was the usual ingredient, so how could it cause such a dramatic change?

However, no matter how much he thought, nothing could explain the current situation. In the end, Cole was forced to stop thinking about it.

With that out of the way, he started examining the changes happening to his own body.

A jump of over thirty percent was huge.

Cole raised his hand to examine it. Just one look and he felt the changes. The muscles in his arm felt more robust. The number of muscle tendons, which had been fixed from the body’s previous state, seemed to have increased considerably. Not just that, even the bones felt more robust, like steel seemingly refined by lightning itself.

As Cole continued to examine, flashes of surging current escaped out of his twin eyeballs, disappearing into the distance. By the time Cole took note of it, it was too late. The lightning hit that large steel chemical container in the corner, blasting a giant hole into its surface.

"Such potent lightning...!"

Cole exclaimed out loud while sucking in a breath of cold air.

With the fusion increasing, his body seemed to be growing on its own, and as the fusion was not yet perfect, Cole had zero control over the tyrannical lightning.

This is bad...

Cole thought grimly, knowing full well just how destructive lightning could be if not properly controlled.

While it could be used to harm others, left uncontrolled it could do the same to him.

His thoughts had barely reached this point when a surge of sparks erupted through his body. Cole’s face fell. He felt the tyrannical lightning rampaging through his blood vessels, some even rupturing and spewing blood out.

Witnessing this scene, Cole’s face turned pale from fright.

This is too much...

With just a little surge, he felt his heart almost burst into pieces from the pressure. If this continued at this rate, he might not have much time.

No, this can’t do... I need to refine another potion to complete the fusion as fast as possible.

With that thought in mind, he wrapped up everything and headed out.

...

Meanwhile, at the Saint Family compound...

Trisha stared angrily at the elite guards surrounding her.

"I have told you many times, why don’t you believe me? I have no idea where he went. No matter how many times you ask me, the response is not going to change..."

Standing at the front of the elite guards was Ambrose, Cole’s young cousin. Hearing Trish’s words, a wide smile appeared on his face.

"You sure talk arrogantly for being a mere servant..."

"Guards, throw her into the dungeon. I am sure after staying there for a couple of days, she will finally open her mouth..."

Immediately, following his words, the elite guards moved. Trisha might be strong, but when facing the elite guards, she could only grit her teeth and do nothing.

Amorpheus did not pay her any more attention, his thoughts wandering.

How could that prince of trash save the Blue Pegasus young master...?

Of course, by now not only the city but the entire Saint Family was also aware of Cole’s deeds. They did not care much about the Blue Pegasus family’s reaction at all. What caught them by surprise was how a good-for-nothing like Cole, who could not even kill a chicken, had saved the young master.

Thinking up to this point, Amorpheus eyes narrowed.

It appears I had missed something... I need to investigate this big brother of mine again...
