Chapter 24: Blood Explosion
Cassian quickly made up his mind; he was going to destroy Max. He cannot see a peasant more talented than him. He seemed to forget what their mission was, but at that moment, due to jealousy, all that mattered to him was to destroy Max.
Like a titan, he stepped forward and left afterimages as he was ready to take heed.
Max, shocked by the sudden burst of speed, quickly fired Blood Bullets. He aimed perfectly, as even though Cassian was faster, his movements weren’t ghostly like Ace’s.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
The bullets accurately struck Cassian’s body. Each impact slowed him for only the briefest moment.
Then he simply pushed through them like a heavily armoured war machine, ignoring the attacks entirely. He continued charging toward Max.
Max’s expression was grave as he moved backwards and continued firing blood bullets to maintain the distance; otherwise, he was done for.
Bang! Bang!...
He fired multiple shots, but Cassian just bulldozed through them and was closing the distance. But he didn’t stop and continued to fire blood bullets from his right hand like he was buying time.
The distance between them continued to shrink.
Twenty meters.
Fifteen.
Ten.
Five.
Then Max’s eyes suddenly flashed with fierce determination. And at the close Cassian felt something was wrong; he suddenly felt a terrifying aura from Max. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
As Max suddenly raised his left hand, which he hadn’t used until now. A terrifying amount of blood energy condensed above at the point of the finger.
Max from the beginning had the plan, and during this time he was slowly gathering blood in his left hand and was compressing its power to his utmost limits. He used many times more blood in it and compressed it to a limit that he cannot control anymore.
Veins bulged across his arm. His muscles trembled violently and his bones groaned under the immense pressure.
"Take this!"
Blood Explosion!
Bang!
The instant it fired, Max’s fingers seemed to snapped instantly, and his arm shook violently. The sickening sound of cracking bones echoed from within it.
But compared to the attack unleashed... That price was insignificant.
Cassian’s instincts screamed. He felt death, like he had never felt before. As he was too close and it was too late to dodge it completely. He roared and knew he had to bet everything to survive.
His aura seemed to burst out, and blood within him burnt. His entire body seemed to turn into black iron, but that wasn’t the end as the metallic skin continued changing.
Layer after layer formed over his body, and then it turned into a semi-formed black armour.
And then the next moment Max’s attack landed on him.
BOOM!!!
An explosion unlike anything before shook the entire mountain forest.
A violent shockwave swept through the surrounding trees, uprooting countless plants and scattering rocks in every direction.
Cassian’s armoured body was blasted away like a ragdoll.
He flew dozens of metres through the air. Tree after tree shattered upon impact.
Finally, he slammed into a massive boulder.
The collision was so violent that nearly half the boulder collapsed, its surface exploding into countless fragments, and only then did he stop.
It happened so quickly that none of the seven bloodline awakeners couldn’t react until everything happened.
Silence followed as they finally snapped out of the shock and went to save Cassian.
Max stared at the cloud of dust. His eyes were cold, as he could be sure that Cassian was just trying to kill him. But along with it, he was shocked by the blood explosion’s power.
Although he cannot use his left hand now, as he felt his bones break by aftershocks, its power compensates for that handicap.
Not to mention how already slowly his broken bones were healing. According to the rate of regeneration, he would be fully healed in a matter of an hour.
He had to say that his Blood Dragon Body is fucking awesome; such a serious injury, even for bloodline awakeners, would take weeks to heal, but for him that is just an hour or two.
But he quickly ducked down as the situation was still grave as he looked at the rubbles and the seven surrounded bloodline awakeners who quickly took out Cassian’s body from the rubbles of the boulder.
"Quick, he is alive! Give him the potion."
Max was surprised as he heard this; even taking such a kind of attack, he survived. His defence was really something.
Andrew and Mathew immediately moved beside Max.
The three exchanged glances. They all reached the same conclusion. Now was their chance.
Everyone’s attention was focused on saving Cassian. If they were going to escape... It had to be now.
And it seems finally heaven’s luck is on their own side.
"Roar!!!!" Roar!!!!
Soon...
Countless beast roars shook the entire forest. They all heard the beast roar; it wasn’t just some beast roar, but it was clearly a beast tide. They felt the land trembling as the beast tide was closing in and was going to sweep this land.
Everyone’s expression changed, especially the pursuer from the Blackthorn family, and just as they looked at Max and others, they had already began to run.
"No, stop them!" All of them roared.
But it was too late, as the beast tide had almost arrived. hundreds of beasts through the mountains like a living flood. Trees snapped, rocks shattered, and everything standing in their path was crushed.
Monstrous beasts poured in from every direction, completely engulfing the battlefield.
If they continued chasing Max...
They would become trapped inside the tide themselves.
Escape routes were disappearing one after another.
In the end...
They had no choice.
They abandoned the pursuit.
Grabbing the unconscious Cassian, the group fled in the opposite direction as the endless wave of beasts crashed into the forest behind them.
Max and the brothers were already quite far as they looked back at the horde of beasts that seemed to be swallowing everything. Although they might have saved themselves from the pursuers, they weren’t safe, as the beast tide was just behind them.
