Chapter 16: Interesting

"In fact, although we brothers travelled a lot, still our knowledge of the world is nothing compared to the vastness of the world. But it is enough for a new fledgling like you."

"First, the name of the continent which we are in is called the Ethos continent because it is said to be governed by the goddess Ethos herself, who protects the lives on the continent."

"As for the wider continent, I don’t know much."

"But regarding where we currently are..."

Andrew paused briefly.

"We are within the Duchy of the Burning Sun. The duchy itself is divided into seven states, each governed by one of the Seven Marquises."

"And Black Iron City..."

He pointed southward. "...lies in the southern territories of the ’State of Silver River’, one of those seven states under the rule of the Duchy of the Burning Sun." freewebnovel.cσ๓

Max listened carefully and tried to understand the geography of this new world. The continent’s name caught his eyes, and what goddess could there be? Really, gods in this world?

At first he thought it must be a myth, but then he thought of the terrifying bloodline power which itself broke the fundamental rules of the world, so it wasn’t impossible to believe there might be gods.

Then—the moment his thoughts drifted back toward the goddess...

A chill ran down his spine. His blood froze.

No—it boiled.

At the same time. His veins felt as though they were coagulated from within. His soul seems to tremble and be about to start crumbling.

For one horrifying moment, it felt as though his entire existence was about to collapse under an unimaginable pressure.

Then it just vanished. As suddenly as it had appeared. Leaving behind only a single voice echoing within his mind. Neither male nor female.

Ancient.

Indifferent.

Curious.

"Interesting..."

He only heard that before everything returned to normal. Max was bewildered by what just happened, and that feeling he seems to be unable to comprehend.

Everything appeared normal, but he felt something terrifying had just happened, but he seemed unable to find or feel anything more. So, he then focused on the information he had just learned.

Andrew didn’t feel anything different about Max, who seemed to have lost in his thoughts. He instead gave him the time to think through it.

"So, where are we going right now?" After calming his mind and letting go of his restless feeling, Max asked the question, as he needed to survive the present first before thinking about anything else.

"We are going to Sea Trident City; it is one of the largest and richest cities in the southern region of the state of Silver River."

"Once we arrive there, you’ll be able to move around freely. Merchants and caravans travel through it constantly."

"For someone like you, it’s the perfect place."

Max raised an eyebrow.

"A bloodline awakener can easily find work there and build a life for himself."

Andrew smiled.

"And more importantly... The Blackthorn family’s influence cannot reach that far, as Sea Trident City isn’t a place where just anybody can mess with it."

Max nodded, as a place like Sea Trident City should have vast contacts and a deep foundation; otherwise, it wouldn’t be one of the richest and most prosperous cities and would be destroyed by jealous and greedy nobles.

This world respected only power.

Wealth will attract greed, resources attracted enemies and popularity attracted ambition.

If a city managed to hold all three, then it meant only one thing.

Somewhere behind its prosperity stood such a terrifying strength that it was able to silence anyone foolish enough to covet it.

With that said, they then quickly increased their speed as Andrew and Mathew have regained most of their strength.

At the same time outside the Black Iron City, right in front of the mountain range where Max and the brothers disappeared from the archer’s sight, a group has gathered.

There were around ten of them; one was the archer who pursued Max and the two brothers and nine others who were all dressed in different kinds of clothes and armour. Showing that they didn’t all belong to the same group of army or legion but were independent warriors.

The archer said, looking at the dense mountain forest, "Their scent disappeared from here."

The other nine looked at each other, and finally one among them stepped forward. He appeared to be wearing simple clothes and to have a bit of wildness and a creepy psycho aura around him, different from typical soldiers or mercenaries. But what made him stand out was his deep blue eyes.

His name was Ace the Hunter.

The others instinctively gave him space. Without saying a word, Darius activated his bloodline ability, and his eyes began to glow faintly.

Suddenly, the world around him changed. Countless streams of colour and light appeared throughout the forest.

Auras. Residual traces left behind by living beings.

Then his gaze settled upon the place where Max and the brothers had last been seen. Three distinct trails appeared before him.

A smile appeared on his face. "Found you."

Hearing this, nobody was surprised, as he got the nickname of ’hunter’ because of this ability. When he locked on his target, they could never run away from him. He then calmly hunts his prey slowly while enjoying the cat-and-mouse chase.

He killed hundreds of people, and most of them were just for fun.

He then suddenly felt something as he looked at three auras; he saw, especially, the one bloody red aura stood out the most.

Curious, Ace focused on it. The moment he did—

ROAR!

A deafening dragon’s roar exploded within his mind. The world seemed to shake. His vision blurred, and he immediately stopped using his ability.
