Chapter 12: First battle against Bloodline Awakener
The soldiers formed a circular formation so that they could hold the three as much time as they could if they tried to run.
"I will take the one on the left." Max said to the two brothers while running. This was his battle, so he had to try his best. He cannot just follow the two brothers’; otherwise, how will he survive this cruel world?
He needed to experience and understand the things himself, not to mention Andrew and Mathew fight best together.
Both brothers nodded and didn’t say anything. They decided who was going to fight whom, and then their aura changed.
Bang!
The two bloodline-awakened captains jumped down from the ten-meter-high wall like nothing. Dust exploded outward from the impact.
Max and the two brothers then finally reached the checkpoint gate and stopped and started to gauge each other. Two brothers immediately moved a bit far, and the battlefield separates into two sides.
Max looked at the guy, the opponent he was going to face. The captain stood over six and a half feet tall with a rugged face and broad shoulders. A long sword rested in his hand. He seemed to have an aura like he was facing a sword itself.
The enemy bloodline awakener named William also carefully glanced at Max. Although he cannot see Max’s face, he still doesn’t dare to be careless, as only two kinds of people would try this kind of stunt. One who has confidence in their strength and another who has lost their mind.
No matter what kind of person is in front of him, he cannot be reckless.
"You and the other two are not leaving this place. I don’t care who you are and what your reason is; the Lord’s order cannot be disobeyed." William said with a calm and deadly expression as he slowly raised his sword.
"We will see that." Max answered calmly without backing off.
For a brief moment, both men stood motionless.
Then William moved.
His body burst forward with terrifying speed. The ground beneath his feet cracked.
And in an instant, he crossed the distance between them. His sword cut through the air, carrying enough force to split stone.
A thunderous sword strike descended toward Max.
Max was surprised a bit by the sudden attack, but his sharp senses noticed every movement of William clearly, which made him calm down as William’s speed was not much different from Andrew and Mathew.
He quickly stepped aside and evaded the thunderous sword strike. But William didn’t stop his attack and followed him with fast, ruthless sword strikes.
Seeing this, he used the spear in his hands. He knew at that moment his physical abilities were quite higher than William’s, and using this advantage along with the reach of his spear, this time he didn’t evade but counterattacked.
He thrust his spear; his technique was amateurish, but the brute force and speed were terrifying beyond level.
Whoosh!
William’s eyes widened.
"What?!
The spear thrust came so fast that he was almost unable to evade, but he was a veteran, and at the last moment he tried to deflect the spear with his sword.
But he had underestimated one thing. The sheer power behind this amateurish spear thrust.
Clang!
A deafening metallic explosion rang through the battlefield.
The force traveled through his sword and into his arms. He lost his balance instantly and was thrown backward several meters before desperately regaining control and landing on his feet.
Even then, he staggered.
But the terrifying power shocked him to the core as his hands were trembling just by deflecting one attack.
William couldn’t help but look at armour-clad Max. He could believe that the difference in power would be this great. But he immediately thought Max must have a bloodline that increases strength or explosive burst.
So, he changed his battle approach. A dangerous smile appeared on his face. "You are quite strong, then let’s see how you face this."
Max was just feeling happy, as it appeared the bloodline awakeners weren’t that strong, but his expression changed as he felt William’s aura changed.
A yellowish glow seemed to appear on William’s sword. The energy wrapped around the blade like liquid light.
Then William swung.
A crescent-shaped wave of yellow energy shot forward, tearing through the air directly towards him. freewёbnoνel.com
"Fuck!"
He quickly jumped sideways and barely managed to avoid it. But the crescent-shaped yellow energy continued to move forward and struck a nearby half-meter-thick tree trunk, slicing it cleanly in half.
Looking at this, he was shocked as he didn’t expect William to have this kind of attack ability.
"Don’t dodge; come take this on!" William’s sword glowed again, and he attacked rapidly with the fury of yellowish energy slashes.
Scch! Scch! Schh!...
The surrounding ground exploded apart; trees were severed. Dust and debris filled the air.
Max, seeing this, moved from one side to another. He at the moment was fully concentrating on every incoming attack, as a moment of carelessness might result in his serious injury or worse, death.
The power of every single energy slash was terrifying, and their speed was also very fast. More importantly, the attacks prevented him from closing the distance.
He couldn’t help but want to know what kind of bloodline the guy had, but he knew he couldn’t waste time. If other bloodline awakeners from the Blackthorn family came, then he would be trapped.
After this confrontation he felt his blood was boiling. He before didn’t dare to push himself, but right now this was no longer the time for caution.
He knew blood control can be very versatile, but he didn’t have time to train, so it came to his instinct and talent. The simplest way right now was simply to improve the blood flow within him, increasing the amount of oxygen within him and improving his strength and reflexes.
But this world seemed to have something else beyond oxygen in the air, as he, after awakening, felt that mysterious energy. So, along with his powerful blood and the mysterious energy, he should be able to burst with stronger strength.
He used his blood control ability and controlled his blood, accelerating the circulation of blood through his veins. As his blood surged faster and faster, he began drawing in traces of that mysterious energy as well.
His veins glowed faintly.
His muscles tightened.
A tremendous force began building inside him.
