Chapter 185: Chapter 185 - Winged Skeletal Creature?

As she tumbled aside, her eyes caught sight of the ridiculous situation.

’That definitely got redirected at me by the Chaos Element,’ her mind raced. ’Did he use an artifact?’

WHOOSH!

Despite being a hundred yards away, the swirling water wave was rapidly closing in on her, forcing her mind to churn even faster.

’The judge would’ve stopped the fight,’ she thought, quickly getting back up. ’So that’s not it.’

Lucienne gritted her teeth.

’Is it a third affinity then? Or what else?’

She had no time to find the answer.

The roaring wall of water was already tearing skeletons apart as it advanced.

Bones, stone, and dust vanished into the violent current before being flung high into the air.

She inhaled sharply.

Then planted both her feet into the ground.

"Fine."

’’I’ll just have to use that.’’

Slowly, both of her eyes shut.

Her hands rose to her chest and clasped together in prayer.

Meanwhile, Theo ran after the wave.

He held his umbrella tightly, feeling he’d used up a third of his mana already.

’She won’t have it much easier,’ he thought. ’The golem, undead army, and that skeletal hand... I’d say we’re pretty even.’

Except, his last attack was still in full motion.

And it wasn’t something she could dodge or escape from.

As Theo glanced in front of him, his eyes narrowed slightly.

Lucienne stood still in the exact same place as before.

That’s when he noticed her hands clasped together and her eyes closed.

’What’s she doing?’

A strange feeling settled in his stomach.

It didn’t feel like danger just yet... rather like something was coming.

’I don’t want to see what it is,’ he thought, accelerating.

At the same time, several more lightning bolts appeared beside him.

Except this time, a gray mana washed over them.

Theo flicked his fingers, instantly shooting them off over the wave.

Each bolt practically blurred through the sky from its immense speed.

He gritted his teeth, forcing them to curve down with much more difficulty.

’That’s it,’ he thought, seeing the bolts heading straight for Lucienne.

The audience held its breath.

It almost felt like time slowed down as the lightning bolts shot toward her and the raging wave closed in.

Then, a dazzling bright light rose around her body.

The light materialized into a broad sphere just in time, shielding her from the barrage of lightning bolts with ease.

Theo couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

’Her second affinity is light?’ he thought. ’Doesn’t that conflict with—’

Before he could continue thinking, the light around Lucienne intensified immensely.

The radiant sphere expanded outward, becoming almost impossible to look at directly.

As the entire arena was bathed in the almost divine light, faint streaks of black mana began appearing inside the sphere.

They twisted together, weaving through the light like ink dropped into water.

Theo’s expression stiffened slightly.

’What...?’

Lucienne’s eyes snapped open as the black mana gathered in front of her.

Crack!

A single bone appeared in the air.

Then, before anyone could even process it, bones burst out one after another.

Ribs snapped into place, arms stretched from newly formed shoulders, and a skull rapidly knitted itself together.

Theo slid to a halt as a chill ran down his spine.

Unlike the other skeletal creatures she’d made, this one felt more like watching a body regenerate at terrifying speed.

’My water wave,’ he thought, clenching his fist. ’Let’s hope it gets there in time.’

That’s when he froze.

Enormous skeletal wings unfurled behind the skeletal figure.

Long robes woven from black and white mana appeared over its body, hiding most of its frame, while a floating crown of similar colors hovered above its skull.

Finally, a deep white flame flickered to life underneath its hood.

Theo felt his heart pound in his chest.

’What the fuck is that?’ he thought. ’Surely that’s not a Silver Core spell?’

Under everyone’s eyes, the creature’s hand rose toward Lucienne.

Without hesitation, the girl stepped forward and offered her scythe to it.

WHOOSH!

Gray flames erupted across the blade.

Only then did the swirling water wave finally arrive.

The creature floated forward slowly and raised the scythe with one hand.

As the water was a foot away, it swung down.

KKGGGGHHHH!!!

A massive flaming arc of gray fire shot forward.

It sliced through the entire sea, splitting it in half in an instant.

Countless tons of water were forced apart, crashing down on either side of Lucienne and carving deep trenches through the arena floor.

Theo’s eyes widened.

The flaming arc continued without losing momentum, heading straight for him.

Without hesitation, gray mana began pouring out of his body.

A large door appeared in front of him, except this time, he curved it from his toes to the back of his head.

BOOOOOMM!!!

The arc collided with the door for a moment, making it tremble violently under the strange flames.

Theo gritted his teeth, supplying more mana to the door immediately.

’Fuck!’ he thought. ’What’s with that thing’s strength?’

After another second, the door finally swallowed the arc whole.

Theo didn’t hesitate.

He stepped forward and opened another door, releasing the flaming arc immediately.

It shot through the sky, heading straight back toward the strange creature.

Behind the creature, Lucienne’s face had gone pale.

The moment the creature had been fully summoned, her knees had buckled.

Having dropped to one knee, she breathed heavily, with one hand pressed against the ground to steady herself.

Despite that, her gaze remained locked on the fight the entire time.

’I wasn’t wrong,’ she thought, eyes widening slightly. ’He did have a third element.’ frёeωebɳovel.com

Many questions entered her mind but were quickly pushed aside as she saw the approaching flaming arc.

Even so, she wasn’t worried in the slightest.

The winged creature slowly hovered in front of her, the flames under its hood flickering once.

Then, without the slightest hint of urgency, it lifted the scythe in a single hand.

WHOOSH!

Gray fire wrapped around the blade once more.

BOOOM!

The redirected arc collided against the descending scythe, erupting into a storm of white and black sparks.

The impact shook the creature’s robes and pushed it back a few feet, but it never faltered.

A second later, both flames dispersed into nothing.
