Chapter 77: Chapter 77 The Marriage Trap

Elara’s POV

The sarcasm dripped from my voice like honey.

I glanced at Thorne, who stayed silent, and smirked before Beatrix could get a word in. "Thorne, what happened to your face? You look like hell."

Of course he looked awful. The itch worms had nearly destroyed him recently.

Then I turned my attention to Beatrix. "Beatrix, I have to admit, for an S-class spiritual power female from the Valerion Empire, you’re not very selective. I assumed you had standards. Guess you’re not as discriminating as I thought."

My words hit their mark. Everyone’s expressions darkened. What a performance.

Beatrix wanted to snap back, but she bit her tongue instead. She looped her arm through Thorne’s, playing the devoted girlfriend right in front of me. "Same old Elara," she said with false sweetness. "Always focused on appearances. They look this way because they were shopping for gifts for me. I’m grateful. Why would I judge them for that?"

"Is that so?" I scoffed. I almost pushed further, but stopped myself. No. I want them trapped together.

Beatrix pressed on, "Exactly, you’re just bitter. They never did anything like that for you."

"You know what? You’re absolutely right. I am bitter..."

I let my shoulders drop, and tears welled up instantly.

The three men just watched. Beatrix felt a surge of triumph.

I could tell exactly what she was thinking. To her, I was exactly the same, still pathetic. She stood taller. "I got intimidated seeing how stunning she looks now. I forgot the most important thing—Elara is still a loser."

Seeing Beatrix’s satisfied grin, I knew my performance was hitting home.

I sprang forward and seized Beatrix’s hands, my voice breathless with fake enthusiasm. "Beatrix, if they’re so wonderful, why haven’t you tied the knot yet? They must be heartbroken! Let me access the system right now. Men this amazing... if you don’t secure them, I might just try to win them back!"

Before Beatrix could protest, I pulled her closer and whipped out my phone. The system interface glowed, and I dragged Beatrix’s hand toward the screen.

"Look! We have a marriage registration happening here!"

I moved so quickly Beatrix couldn’t react. She tried to jerk away, but my grip was iron-strong.

Beatrix went into full panic mode. She saw those three as nothing but walking ATMs. Marriage was never on her agenda! Why would she want my scraps?

I read her thoughts perfectly. But the damage was already done.

"Beatrix, you don’t mind that I’m hitting ’confirm’ for you, right?" I gushed, my voice sickeningly sweet. "I’m just overjoyed for you! Hearing how devoted they are... I got swept up in your romance. I couldn’t wait to see you walk down the aisle."

The spectacle was attracting onlookers. Nobody had witnessed someone pull up marriage registration on their phone and execute it right there in a store. Public proposals were common, but this was unprecedented.

Beatrix’s face blazed crimson. She couldn’t speak because I kept cutting her off.

"You three, get over here!" I shouted. "Can’t you see Beatrix’s excitement? Look how flushed she is!" freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Then I addressed the gathering crowd. "These men were once my husbands. Now they belong to my cousin! Please treat her well. Before, you treated me like garbage and spent my money on her... and I actually resented you for it! I was horrible. If I’d realized you were all meant to be together, I would’ve stepped aside sooner. Boys, this is the least I can do. Be happy, alright?"

I sobbed theatrically, my acting atrocious—I was barely suppressing laughter.

Thorne and his companions looked like they’d witnessed a murder. Beatrix’s face was an alarming shade of crimson.

But I wasn’t finished. I transferred credits to Beatrix’s account, making the transaction public. "Beatrix, now that you’re legally wed, no more sneaking around. Here are some credits. It’s my entire savings. I wish you all... eternal happiness together!"

Finally settled that debt. Disgusting!

With that, I pressed the final confirmation button for all four of them. The instant the marriage certificates materialized in the system, I lost my composure. I collapsed onto a nearby couch, buried my face in my hands, and began "sobbing" uncontrollably.

Everyone could only see my trembling shoulders, as if I was utterly devastated.

Beatrix stood paralyzed. By the time she recovered enough to scream at me, the crowd was already murmuring and shooting her disapproving glances.
