Chapter 191: Chapter 189: Wen Dabao’s Slide Tackle to Claim a Mom
Rosa Meiya was so mad she leaped to her feet and started cursing. "Fuck! Is she really a newbie? What the hell is this disgusting, insane footwork?"
"What do you mean I suck? Didn’t you guys see how she was sticking to me, mirroring my every move?"
"I couldn’t get a bead on her at all!"
"Goddammit! I refuse to accept this!"
"Fight me head-on if you’ve got the guts!"
The match was best two out of three, so the winner was already decided.
But Rosa Meiya insisted on playing the third round.
This time, she switched to a 1v1 desert map specifically designed for sniping.
The desert map was mostly a wide-open plain, and the loot spawns were predominantly sniper rifles.
Rosa Meiya was trying to force her into a direct gunfight.
Bai Su silently apologized. ’It’s not that I want to use my special ability to bully her, but Rosa Meiya is just so annoying.’
She was starting to get the hang of the game. Instead of marking some obscure corner of the map, this time she dropped her pin on a city area.
After landing, she quickly looted a sniper rifle, a scope, and ammo.
Once both of them were geared up, the zone began to shrink.
Bai Su glanced at the terrain and clumsily drove a vehicle to the top of a mountain.
She even managed to loot a ghillie suit along the way. Prone on the mountaintop, she was practically invisible.
Rosa Meiya was in a building across the way, crouched inside the highest tower, her gun trained as she scanned everywhere for Bai Su.
Bai Su’s lips curled into a smirk. She raised her scope, zeroed in on Rosa Meiya in the tower opposite, and pulled the trigger.
With a sharp CRACK, a perfectly aimed shot shattered Rosa Meiya’s Level 3 helmet.
Live Comments: [Holy crap? Was that... luck?]
[Nah, the look on her face gives me the feeling she actually knows how to snipe.]
[No way, right? She got her car stuck halfway up the mountain and had to walk the rest of the way...]
[LMAO, she almost wrecked the car and got herself killed.]
[It’s a weird contradiction, like she’s a total noob and a seasoned pro at the same time.]
Hearing the gunshot, Rosa Meiya scrambled into a corner, crouched to heal, and slapped on a nearby Level 2 helmet.
Bai Su’s shot had given away her position, but Rosa Meiya was quick to react, immediately ducking out of the line of sight.
Bai Su wasn’t in a hurry. She just kept her scope trained on the spot, waiting for her opponent to peek.
Rosa Meiya peeked out abruptly. In the instant Bai Su fired, she managed to pinpoint her location, but at the cost of another Level 2 helmet and some of her health.
She had no choice but to crouch down to heal, pop a smoke grenade, change her position, and flee in a vehicle.
Live Comments: [Wait, is Bai Su for real?]
[Was she faking it before? I saw her do the tutorial mission, she couldn’t even drive straight.]
[Lethal aim, insane footwork, one-shotting you the moment you peek... How can you say she isn’t a veteran player? Not even many players in high-ranked lobbies can pull off plays like that.]
The new safe zone centered on the city, and Bai Su was positioned right on its edge.
Rosa Meiya had hidden in the high tower across the way, intending to have a sniper duel with Bai Su.
Bai Su seemed in no rush to kill her. She just kept sniping her down to critical health, waiting for her to heal back to full, and then sniping her again.
After Rosa Meiya healed to full for the third time, the live comments were utterly convinced that Bai Su was no newbie.
The zone was shrinking steadily. Bai Su stopped toying with Rosa Meiya and ended the final duel with a single shot.
It was an absolute masterclass in skill.
The entire venue erupted in cheers of victory!
Live Comments: [I see it now! She was playing dumb the whole time!]
[So strong! She’s just so strong! Her sniping was incredible. With that kind of pinpoint accuracy, who would believe she isn’t a veteran?!]
[Poor Rosa Meiya, I can’t help but feel sorry for her.]
[She’s an all-rounder! Su Shen is a true all-rounder!]
[Waaah, I can’t call you wifey anymore! From now on, Susu, you’re my man!]
[I won’t say who, but someone was just completely mesmerized!]
In front of the livestream, Wen Dabao leaped to her feet. "No, I have to go find her!"
Seeing the crazed look on her face, Wen Lan had a bad feeling. "What are you going to do?"
Wen Dabao declared decisively, "My mom needs me!"
The moment the words left her mouth, she shot out like a little cannonball.
Wen Lan cursed, "Fuck! Wen Dabao, you get your ass back here!"
Wen Dabao had already burst into the restaurant across the street. "Mom! Mom, where are you? It’s me, your long-lost, devoted daughter!"
Her face was filled with excitement and adoration, and she looked desperate to rush over and cling to Bai Su’s leg.
Wen Lan chased after her, his face grim. "Wen Dabao, don’t you dare cause a scene!"
Wen Dabao zipped around like a slippery eel, shouting "Mom!" at the top of her lungs. He couldn’t catch her at all.
"Mom! Where are you? I came to find you!"
"Mom! Don’t be shy! Come on out so we can have our family reunion!"
"My lovely mommy?"
"Mom?"
"Weird... Where is she?"
Yan Qingya stared, dumbfounded, at the little creature tearing through the lobby. "Excuse me, who are you looking for?"
Wen Dabao said, "My mom."
Yan Qingya asked, "Who’s your mom?"
Wen Dabao started, "Bai—"
Quick as a flash, Wen Lan clapped a hand over her mouth.
Bai Su had just finished her stream and was walking out of the kitchen.
Wen Dabao’s eyes lit up. Without a second thought, she charged forward. "Mom!"
Bai Su jumped in surprise. Before she could steady herself, a small figure suddenly latched onto her leg, nearly knocking her over.
Wen Dabao had been shouting as she ran, her little face flushed red from either exertion or excitement.
She hugged Bai Su’s thigh. "Mom! Are you looking for an apprentice? Can you teach me how to snipe? I promise I’m super smart!"
Bai Su: "...Huh?"
Wen Dabao looked a lot tanner and thinner than she had as a young child.
But Bai Su recognized her in an instant.
She crouched down, pleasantly surprised, and took hold of Wen Dabao. "Little Lizard?"
Wen Dabao nodded furiously. "It’s me, it’s me, it’s me!"
Wen Lan, standing nearby, looked ready to explode. He abruptly turned and ran.
Bai Su hugged Wen Dabao joyfully. Feeling the warmth of her body made the moment feel even more surreal. "You found your way back by yourself?"
Wen Dabao nodded like she was pounding garlic. "Uh-huh! You recognize me?"
Bai Su said, "Of course I do! Do you have any idea how long I’ve been looking for you?"
Wen Dabao grinned. "So, can you teach me how to snipe? Can I team up with you? I’m pretty good too, I won’t hold you back!"
Bai Su nodded eagerly. "Of course you can! Sweetie, I’m so happy you’re back!"
On one side, the mother and daughter were having a joyous reunion.
On the other side, Wen Lan was stomping around the general store in a rage, his tail whipping back and forth and smashing everything in the room.
’Damn that Wen Dabao!’
’That good-for-nothing!’
He’d had a bad feeling the moment he saw how good Bai Su was at the game.
No one knew better than him just how obsessed that little rascal, Wen Dabao, was with battle royale games.
If he, her own father, were drowning, she’d probably finish her match before coming to collect his body.
He just never expected Wen Dabao to be so shameless as to go running back.
’What happened to our agreement to hate Bai Su together?’
’What happened to being united against a common enemy?’
’What happened to agreeing to save Dad first if Mom and Dad fall in the water at the same time?’
’Dammit!’
