Chapter 98: Chapter 98: I Want to Tie Sonia Quincy to My Side, Too
"Heh..." Willow Quincy laughed nonchalantly. "Sonia Quincy isn’t my biological sister. We’re not related by blood."
Felix Preston gripped his collar, flames of murderous intent flickering in his bloodshot eyes.
"But she was still a daughter of the Quincy Family when you fell in love with her!"
"Cecilia Quincy hadn’t shown up yet when you fell for Sonia, had she?"
"..." Willow Quincy’s unrestrained smile suddenly froze. He fell silent, not answering Felix Preston.
But in Felix Preston’s eyes, silence was his answer.
"So I was right. You fell in love with your own sister. You fell in love with her before the truth about Sonia’s birth was revealed."
"...Heh." Willow Quincy laughed, his laughter laced with deep mockery. It seemed he was mocking Felix Preston, and yet, also himself.
Felix Preston’s blood-red eyes stared him down, every word he spoke wrapped in monstrous resentment and rage.
"You love her, but you couldn’t accept that you loved her. So you targeted her at every turn, found fault with everything she did, trying in vain to replace the love in your heart with disgust. Am I right?"
"...Yes." At this point, Willow Quincy saw no need to hide it anymore. His gaze drifted upward, helplessly staring into the vast, empty void.
"But also, no..."
Felix Preston ignored that last part. He gripped Willow Quincy’s collar so tightly his entire arm was trembling.
"Later, Cecilia Quincy came home, and Sonia became the infamous fake heiress of Aethelburg. The blood tie was no longer an obstacle. If you wanted to, you could have found a way to be with Sonia. So you targeted me like a madman, planning to kill me and snatch Sonia away. Am I right?"
Willow Quincy nodded. "That part is completely right."
"..."
Felix Preston’s breath hitched. The hatred and rage filling his heart could no longer be contained.
THUD!
He swung his fist and knocked Willow Quincy to the ground with one punch!
One punch wasn’t enough to vent his anger. He stumbled after him, grabbed Willow Quincy by the collar, and rained frantic punches on his face!
THUD!
THUD!
"FUCK!"
Felix Preston was almost thirty. In his thirty years of life, he had always taken Mrs. Preston’s teachings to heart and had never sworn at anyone.
But today, he broke that rule.
He grabbed Willow Quincy’s hair and, like a man possessed, cursed him with every foul word he could think of.
"You animal! You’re a fucking animal! You’re going to ruin Sonia’s life!"
"I fucking should have run you over and killed you just now! Killed you and your filthy thoughts!"
"Willow Quincy, Sonia was your own sister! How could you harbor such thoughts? How could you dare?"
"Motherfucker!"
"...And why wouldn’t I dare?!" Willow Quincy threw off Felix Preston’s hands, gritted his teeth, and forcefully shoved him to the ground.
Felix Preston rolled twice on the ground in a pathetic heap. Just as he was about to get up, Willow Quincy planted a foot on his back.
"Sonia Quincy is not my sister! She has no blood ties to me, or to anyone in the Quincy Family! Why can’t I love her? Why can’t I be with her?"
As Willow Quincy spoke, he steadily increased the pressure on his foot, pinning Felix Preston so he couldn’t get up.
Felix Preston’s body ached with excruciating pain, so much so that he didn’t even have the strength to struggle. But the moment he heard Sonia Quincy’s name, the thought of her delicate and sweet smile, of the lively little mole on the tip of her nose, made him feel he could fight on.
Sonia needed him, their child needed him. He couldn’t let a scumbag like Willow Quincy crush him underfoot.
Willow Quincy cracked a wild, gloomy smile with his bloody mouth. "Felix Preston, who the hell do you think you are? How long have you even known Sonia Quincy? What makes you worthy of being her husband?"
"In Aethelburg, in this entire world, I’m the only one worthy of being responsible for Sonia Quincy’s life. I watched her grow up. The first picture she drew in kindergarten, she gave to me. The first song she learned to sing, she sang for me."
"I took her to and from school, I held her until she fell asleep during thunderstorms, my jersey wiped away her tears, I even bought her sanitary pads when she was on her period!"
"Felix Preston, how can you possibly compare to all that?"
"Heh..." Felix Preston sneered in disdain. "Willow Quincy, what’s the use of comparing those things? If you want to compare something, compare who Sonia would choose between the two of us. Compare who Sonia actually loves!"
"..." Willow Quincy’s eyes widened, his smile instantly turning cold.
The question had been answered the moment Felix Preston asked it. If Sonia Quincy had even a sliver of a different kind of feeling for Willow Quincy, he wouldn’t have been driven to this point.
It was precisely because Sonia didn’t love him and would never choose him that he had become so deranged, deluding himself into thinking he could kill Felix Preston and take her by force.
"Hahahaha..." Willow Quincy’s silence made Felix Preston ecstatic. He painstakingly moved his hands, enduring the pain to twist his body under Willow Quincy’s foot.
"You can’t compete with me on that, because there’s no way Sonia could ever love you!"
The instant the words left his mouth, Felix Preston suddenly flipped over and shot his hands up, coiling them like a snake around the leg Willow Quincy was using to pin him down, and then yanked backward with all his might—
With a dull THUD, Willow Quincy’s body was thrown hard onto the ground by Felix Preston, flopping like a sack of potatoes.
"PTUI—"
Hot blood sprayed from Willow Quincy’s mouth. He hastily wiped it away and immediately struggled back to his feet.
By the time he’d staggered to a stable stance, Felix Preston was already in front of him.
"Sonia is mine, and I’ll keep her tied to my side even in death! Willow Quincy, don’t even think about touching her in this life, the next, or the life after that!"
"Your words mean nothing!" Willow Quincy swung a fist at Felix Preston, but Felix blocked it with lightning speed.
Unwilling to give up, he immediately raised his other hand.
THWACK!
This punch successfully landed on Felix Preston, but he didn’t retreat. Instead, he instantly and furiously counterattacked.
BAM!
Felix Preston returned the punch.
Willow Quincy, not wanting to take another hit, immediately swung again. And so, the two men, covered in blood, began to grapple and trade blows.
"You’re a bankrupt loser! What kind of future can you give Sonia? You’ll only drag her down!"
"You’re the one who’s really dragging her down! You’re ruining her!"
"Sonia is mine! I’m the one who loves her most in this world..."
The two of them cursed as they fought, completely oblivious to the black smoke starting to rise from the two cars not far away.
The black smoke billowed into the sky, and a few seconds later, fierce flames suddenly shot out from where the fronts of the cars had collided!
And the very next second—
BOOM!
A fireball billowed and burst in the air, the sound of the explosion deafening!
"What was that sound?" Sonia Quincy shot upright, the color draining completely from her face at the sound of the explosion.
Jasper Linden stared straight ahead, the horror in his eyes swelling like a tidal wave.
"There’s a fire up ahead. I think... a car exploded."
