Chapter 95: Chapter 95: Renee Sinclair Begs Her

"Why?!" Renee Sinclair’s voice was no different from a roar. "Felix Preston is my life! I’ll die without him! But you’re different! You don’t have a system or a mission. You could leave Felix Preston and find a much better man, so why do you insist on clinging to him?"

Sonia Quincy chuckled and answered calmly, "In my heart, Felix Preston is the best. I could never be with another man."

"Sonia Quincy!" Renee Sinclair sounded like she was crying. "I’m begging you, please, just let me have Felix Preston. I really can’t live without him!"

"No." Sonia’s voice was soft, but her tone was unyieldingly firm.

Renee Sinclair completely broke down. "Will you help me if I get on my knees and beg? I’ll do it! I’ll kneel and beg you if you’ll just help me!"

"You’d be saving my life. Think of it as accumulating good karma for the baby in your belly. It would also be a way to repay me for the trouble I helped you solve."

"Helped me solve trouble?" Sonia Quincy didn’t quite understand. "What trouble did you help me with?"

Renee Sinclair said, "What trouble, you ask? If I hadn’t stepped in personally, do you think that mob spreading rumors about your house being haunted would have left so readily?"

"...You drove those people away?" Sonia was stunned.

Renee was panting on the other end of the line. "I did. So, Sonia Quincy, as repayment for my kindness, give Felix Preston to me. Or just let me see him once. How about it?"

"No." Sonia’s answer was the same.

"You—" Renee Sinclair couldn’t catch her breath, nearly fainting from rage.

Sonia Quincy rubbed her aching back and said, gently but mercilessly, "Miss Sinclair, thank you for helping me with that problem. But that’s a separate matter. No matter how you beg, I will never give up on Felix Preston."

"You say Felix Preston is your life, but I have also made him a part of mine. I will cherish him as I cherish my own life, and I will absolutely never hand him over to anyone."

"Your situation is indeed pitiful, but it has very little to do with me. Miss Sinclair, you should find another solution. Don’t call me about this again."

Sonia Quincy had important business to attend to. After saying her piece, she hung up, giving Renee Sinclair no further opportunity to pester her.

"Bloom Preston."

Mina Jennings pushed open the studio door and walked toward Sonia Quincy, her hands clasped behind her back.

Sonia turned, and her eyes curved into crescents when she saw her.

"Ms. Jennings."

Mina Jennings hummed in acknowledgment.

"You’re here, so why didn’t you go inside? The wind is so strong today. Are you daft, standing out here in the cold?"

Sonia Quincy tugged at her mask and said, her voice tinged with a smile, "I was just on the phone. I figured I’d go in after I was done."

"Oh." Mina didn’t press for details. She simply hooked her arm through Sonia’s and led her into the studio.

"Your belly’s gotten so much bigger. You must be six months along, right?"

Sonia Quincy replied, "I am."

Mina said, "Then you need to be careful. Don’t get upset, and don’t overwork yourself."

"Don’t overwork myself? I wouldn’t feel overworked if you’d stop hounding me for my designs."

"Then I guess you’ll just have to be overworked."

Joking, Mina led Sonia through the studio’s main work area and into her private office.

The internet celebrity had already arrived and was sitting on the office sofa.

"Julia, this is the jewelry designer I told you about, the one with the incredibly unique style."

Mina Jennings released Sonia Quincy’s arm, placed a hand on her shoulder instead, and formally introduced her.

"Ms. Quincy, hello." Julia Dawson stood up from the sofa, respectfully extending a hand to shake Sonia’s.

Sonia nodded politely. "Hello."

"AHEM..." Mina cleared her throat and suddenly began to sing Sonia’s praises.

"Ms. Quincy just signed a copyright deal with *Legend of the King*, so she’s in high demand right now. If I didn’t have a bit of a connection with her, I wouldn’t have been able to book her."

Julia Dawson removed her mask, revealing a delicate and pretty face.

"Of course, I understand. In that case, I won’t waste any of Ms. Quincy’s time. I’ll get straight to my request."

"Go ahead." Sonia Quincy put down her shoulder bag and took out her tablet.

"Sit." Mina guided her to the sofa.

"Oh, Ms. Quincy, you’re pregnant!" Julia Dawson’s expression was one of undisguised surprise as she glanced at Sonia’s belly. "When Mina was telling me about you, I pictured you as a single, cool, high-powered career woman."

Sonia Quincy smiled, a bit sheepishly. "I’m not single, and I’m not that cool."

Julia said, "For someone as amazing as you to settle down, your husband must be perfect."

Sonia said without a trace of false modesty, "He really is a perfect man."

"How wonderful." Julia Dawson’s eyes instantly filled with envy as she looked at Sonia. "I hope I can be as happy as you are after I get married, Ms. Quincy."

Sonia said, "You will be. You’ll find your happiness."

"Then I’ll take those as words of blessing, Ms. Quincy."

Although Julia Dawson was an internet celebrity with tens of millions of followers, she didn’t put on any airs. On the contrary, she was very humble and kind.

Sonia Quincy had a pleasant discussion with her, and in less than an hour, they had determined the design style she wanted.

"I love this design of yours, Ms. Quincy."

Julia was holding Sonia’s tablet, particularly interested in the impromptu design Sonia had created during her interview.

Sonia began, "I..."

"Bloom."

Mina Jennings interrupted her, picking up Sonia’s phone from the table.

"You’re getting a call."

Sonia took the phone and saw that the caller was Felix Preston.

"Sorry, I have to take this." Not daring to ignore his call, she quickly stood up, walked to the side, and answered.

"Hello?"

"Sonia."

Felix Preston’s voice was filled with obvious excitement, and he sounded very happy. "Good news! Evan Yates and I finally landed an investor. We’re going to their company after lunch to discuss the details of our collaboration."

"Really?" Sonia’s eyes widened in pleasant surprise.

Felix said, "It’s absolutely true. How much longer will you be? Can you make it back before lunch?"

"I... I probably can’t make it back. I still have a lot of work to do here." Sonia pouted, her mood souring.

"Does the meeting have to be today? Can’t you reschedule?"

"Can’t," Felix said. "They can only see me today."

Sonia frowned. "So it’ll just be you and Evan Yates?"

Felix replied, "Yeah, just the two of us."

"...Alright," Sonia said, resigned. "Then you two be safe, okay? Don’t let your guard down about anything."

Felix said, "I know. You be good, Sonia. Wait for me to bring back good news."

Sonia replied, "I will."

She didn’t want to hang up, but Julia Dawson and Mina Jennings were waiting for her. All she could do was stall for ten more seconds, trying to exchange a few more words with Felix Preston.

After the call ended, she put her phone back on the table, turned, and sat on the sofa to continue her conversation with Julia Dawson.

There had been too many worries lately, and Sonia had forgotten many small but important details. She had been so focused on telling Felix Preston to call her if he ran into trouble that she’d completely forgotten she had set her phone to silent several days ago.

And so, when Felix Preston really did run into trouble and called her, she didn’t hear a single one.
