Chapter 74: Chapter 74: I Want Sonia Quincy

After lunch, Sonia Quincy tidied up the kitchen and took a taxi back to the apartment she shared with Felix Preston.

Although it couldn’t compare to Mrs. Preston’s house, it was their own little home. ’Felix is in a bad mood,’ she thought. ’If he can see me as soon as he gets home, he should feel a little better.’

Having finished the revisions for the three designs she had sold, Sonia Quincy didn’t dare to rest for long. She cleaned the apartment, then sat down at her workbench to continue drawing the Whisperwind necklace.

Coloring was a test of patience. Sonia Quincy put her phone on silent, set it aside, and remained seated for several hours.

「Meanwhile, in the Sinclair Group’s office building.」

Felix Preston gathered his bid proposal documents one by one. With a blank expression, he said to Winston Sinclair, who sat opposite him at the long table, "I’m sorry, Mr. Sinclair, but I cannot agree to your request."

"Why?" Winston Sinclair didn’t understand. "I’m just asking you to marry my daughter, not to go through hell and high water. Why can’t you agree? Can Renee not even compare to that Sonia Quincy?"

"She can’t." Felix Preston’s answer was direct. "In my heart, she just can’t compare to Sonia Quincy."

"You—" Winston Sinclair was choked by his words, momentarily unsure of what to say in Renee Sinclair’s defense.

Felix Preston finished gathering his bid proposal documents and placed them in the file folder beside him. He then looked up at Winston Sinclair’s ashen face and emphasized, word by word, "Sonia Quincy is my wife. In my heart, she will always be number one. No one can ever surpass her. Mr. Sinclair, your request is completely unreasonable. It is impossible for me to agree."

"My request is unreasonable?" Winston Sinclair laughed in anger. He slammed his palm on the table, which made a dull THUD.

"Felix Preston, being willing to marry my daughter to a married man like you is already a huge favor! How dare you say I’m being unreasonable?"

Felix Preston lowered his gaze, his reply neither servile nor defiant. "I am already married, and my wife is five months pregnant. Yet, at a time like this, Mr. Sinclair is asking me to abandon my wife and child to marry your daughter. If that isn’t unreasonable, what is?"

Winston Sinclair shot up from his chair, pointing an irate finger at Felix Preston’s nose. "Felix Preston, are you genuinely stupid, or are you just playing dumb? That wife of yours, Sonia Quincy, is nothing but trouble!"

"She’s been married to you for half a year, right? And what has she done in that time? Stirred up trouble everywhere, flirted with other men! The Quincy Family, the Lockwood Family, your own family—she’s turned them all upside down! And you still consider a woman like that your wife? You must be out of your mind!"

Felix Preston pressed his lips together, not rushing to rebut.

Winston Sinclair shot him a glare of profound disappointment and continued, "Look at my Renee, on the other hand. A spotless family background, powerful connections, and she’s a top student who returned from studying abroad. She’s so outstanding that even ten Sonia Quincys combined wouldn’t be worth a single strand of her hair!"

"If you have half a brain, you should know what choice to make!"

"Heh..." Felix Preston’s lips twitched into an unreadable smile.

Winston Sinclair clasped his hands behind his back and stepped out from behind his desk, reigning in some of his fierce aura.

"Felix Preston, I know what you need most right now, and so do you. The Preston Group is in ruins. If you want to make a comeback, to rebuild the Preston Group from the ground up, you must latch onto a powerful force."

"Obviously, Renee is the powerful force you need. What she can give you is something Sonia Quincy could never provide in a lifetime."

"As a man, and as a businessman, you should know what the right choice is!"

At these words, Felix Preston finally lifted his lowered gaze. He looked at Winston Sinclair, his eyes calm and his face devoid of any emotion.

Winston Sinclair raised his hand and pointed at him. "This is the opportunity the Sinclair Group is giving you! Whether or not you can get back on your feet depends on the choice you make right now."

Felix Preston adjusted his glasses and quickly gave his answer.

"I choose Sonia Quincy."

"You..." Winston Sinclair was dumbfounded.

Felix Preston smiled faintly and repeated himself. "I choose Sonia Quincy. No matter how outstanding Miss Sinclair is, I choose Sonia Quincy."

"You—Did your brain get run over by a car?!" Winston Sinclair’s patience ran out. He pointed at Felix Preston and cursed, "No wonder the Preston Group went bankrupt under you! With a mindset and vision like yours, you’re destined to never achieve anything great!"

"A perfect tailwind is right in front of you, and you don’t even know to seize the opportunity! People out there would kill for a chance this good!"

Felix Preston said, "Those people are them, and I am me. There’s no need to lump us together, Mr. Sinclair. I know you’re angry, so feel free to belittle me all you want. My choice stands, and it will not change, no matter what."

"Why?" Winston Sinclair truly didn’t get it. "Why are you so dead set on Sonia Quincy? What is it about my daughter that’s not good enough for you?"

Felix Preston answered calmly, "Miss Sinclair is wonderful and outstanding, but unfortunately, I don’t like her at all. To me, marriage is marriage, and business is business. I’m not willing to mix the two."

"And don’t think you can use marriage to decide my future, Mr. Sinclair."

"As for why it has to be Sonia Quincy, I’m afraid I can’t explain that to you, Mr. Sinclair."

"Why not?" Winston Sinclair asked, his face dark.

Felix Preston replied, "Because it’s a private matter. I know Sonia’s worth, and that’s all that matters; I don’t need anyone else’s opinion. Moreover, Sonia isn’t a commodity. I will not measure her value with a business perspective, and I absolutely will not allow her to be sacrificed for this deal."

As he spoke, Felix Preston thought of the photo Sonia Quincy had sent him at noon. The woman in the picture was gentle and lovely. Just thinking of her made Felix Preston feel grounded and content.

His eyes curved in a soft smile, filled with endless tenderness. "I founded the Preston Group myself. I didn’t rely on anyone, and certainly not on a woman. Now that I have to start over, I can do it again!"

"Mr. Sinclair, you are a true businessman. I, however, am not. I can’t give up Sonia Quincy."

Winston Sinclair stared at him, a cold sneer on his lips. "Felix Preston, I’m not here to bargain with you. I’ll repeat what I said: Renee is my only blood, and I must find a way to fulfill her wishes. If you stubbornly refuse to divorce Sonia Quincy, then I will not approve this investment."

"Think it over carefully. Is it Sonia Quincy, or is it Renee and the Sinclair Group?"

Winston Sinclair had already offered his best terms. Any normal person would know what to choose.

But Felix Preston remained unmoved.

"I want Sonia Quincy."

"You—" Winston Sinclair’s eyes widened as he glared at him. "If you want Sonia Quincy, then forget about the investment! You’re all alone in Aethelburg now. Besides the Sinclair Group, no one will invest in you!"

Felix Preston nodded and said only one word: "Goodbye."
