Chapter 291: Chapter 294: Sending Her Away

"...Do you have to be so cruel to me?"

Renee Sinclair clutched desperately at her down jacket, her face pale and her eyes numb. In just a dozen seconds, it was as if her entire soul had been drained away, leaving behind nothing but a lifeless shell.

"Do you have to be so cruel to me?" She stared blankly into the empty space before her with lifeless eyes, as if speaking to someone there.

"...Is she talking to us?" Jasper Linden asked, looking uncertainly at Felix Preston beside him.

Felix Preston shook his head. "I don’t know."

He truly didn’t. Renee Sinclair’s mental state was clearly abnormal, and he had no idea what kind of attitude he should take with her.

’Should I treat her like a madwoman? Or as a malicious woman intentionally trying to seduce me to harm Charlotte Shaw?’

"..."

After saying that, Renee Sinclair fell silent. A moment later, with her back to the three men at the door, she picked up her clothes and put them on, one piece at a time.

"I’m dressed now. You don’t have to be afraid," she said tonelessly, turning to face the doorway.

Hearing this, Jasper Linden was the first to glance back at her. Seeing she was indeed fully clothed, he reached out and patted Felix Preston on the shoulder.

Felix Preston turned, his gaze fixed on her with a complicated expression.

"...I’m sorry." She suddenly bent at the waist, giving Felix Preston a deep bow.

Felix Preston remained unmoved. He just asked coldly, "Renee Sinclair, have you considered going to the hospital?"

This wasn’t sarcasm, nor did it carry any other meaning. He genuinely felt that there might be something wrong with Renee Sinclair’s mental state and was suggesting she go to the hospital.

"Mm," Renee Sinclair said, straightening up. She lowered her gaze and nodded. "I will."

Mason Shaw frowned. "It’s cold out here. You should go back to your room and rest."

Renee Sinclair: "Okay."

Mason Shaw immediately stepped aside, clearing a path for her to leave.

She took a few steps forward, then stopped abruptly at the door. Turning back, she bowed deeply to the three men again. "Everything that happened tonight was my fault. I’m sorry for all the trouble I’ve caused you."

"No, you don’t have to do that." Jasper Linden instinctively reached out to help her up, but then he remembered her frantic behavior from moments before and cautiously drew his hand back.

"Just go back and rest. And once you’re rested, find a hospital to get yourself checked out."

"Mm," Renee Sinclair replied in a low voice, then dragged her puppet-like body out of Felix Preston’s room.

SLAM!

Only when they heard her shut the door to her own room did the three men in the hallway let out a collective sigh of relief.

"What in the world is wrong with her?" Jasper Linden rubbed his throbbing temples, completely baffled. "She was fine just a few days ago. Why is she acting like she’s lost her mind today?"

"Maybe she really is having a mental breakdown," Felix Preston said, his brow furrowed. His expression had darkened, worn down by the ordeal.

"Sigh..." Mason Shaw let out a troubled sigh and put a hand on Felix Preston’s shoulder. "Has Evan Yates called yet? How’s the questioning with Wallace Usher going?"

Felix Preston: "Not..."

BZZZT—

BZZZT—

Felix Preston was just about to say "not yet" when the phone he’d tossed on the bed suddenly started vibrating.

Jasper Linden’s eyes lit up. "Is that Evan Yates?"

Felix Preston’s gaze sharpened. He spun around, strode into the room, and snatched the phone from the bedspread.

"...It’s Evan Yates!" Seeing the name on the caller ID, Felix Preston’s heart instantly began to race.

"Answer it!" Mason Shaw urged.

Felix Preston immediately hit the answer key and put the call on speaker.

"Hello, Evan Yates."

"Preston!" Evan Yates’s voice was trembling; you could tell he was excited even through the phone.

"I got it! I got the address! I got the villa’s address out of him!"

Felix Preston: "Spit it out!"

Evan Yates: "The southwest corner of Misty Peak Mountain! There’s a private estate there called Nimboria. That’s the one Wallace Usher gave to Willow Quincy! And the villa Willow Quincy bought is inside that estate!"

"Are you sure?" Mason Shaw asked, needing confirmation.

"I’m sure! Absolutely sure!" Evan Yates yelled excitedly. "This Wallace Usher is even more of a coward than Jude Quinn! The second I showed him the dirt I have on him, he started bawling. I didn’t even have to ask anything before he spilled his guts about everything!"

"A spineless waste of space like him, you think he’d dare lie to me?"

Jasper Linden looked at Felix Preston. "So that means the address is definitely real?"

"Real!" Evan Yates guaranteed with conviction. "It’s absolutely real! If it’s not, I’ll twist my own head off and use it as a mop!"

"Preston, Willow Quincy isn’t back yet. You guys need to get going and set up an ambush around the villa! Willow Quincy definitely knows the cops are onto him. Every second you delay puts Charlotte in more danger!"

Evan Yates was urging them on frantically, but Felix Preston didn’t act rashly.

He asked Mason Shaw, "Figure out the timing. How long until Willow Quincy can get to Kyloria?"

Mason Shaw: "It’s four hours from Veridia to Kyloria, minimum. Willow Quincy was released from the police station at 10:30 PM. To throw the police off, he wouldn’t have dared to leave town right away. He’d have to go back to the hospital for at least two or three hours. It’s only 12:30 AM now. If all goes as expected, he’s probably just left Veridia."

Jasper Linden: "In that case, we have a four-hour window to act!"

"Let’s go!"

Hearing they had four hours, Felix Preston didn’t hesitate for another second. He decisively ended the call, grabbed the windbreaker from the foot of the bed, and quickly pulled it on.

"Bro, call Uncle Collins and tell him the villa’s location. I’ll contact Riley Chase now and have him bring people to meet us and head up the mountain."

Hearing this, Mason Shaw quickly pulled his phone from his jacket pocket and went out onto the balcony to make the call.

Jasper Linden helped Felix Preston pack his things. Just as they were about to leave, he suddenly asked, "What about Renee Sinclair? Should we take her with us?"

"No," Felix Preston and Mason Shaw replied in unison.

Jasper Linden: "So we just leave her here at the hotel by herself?"

Mason Shaw thought for a moment, then sighed, vexed. "Sigh... her mental state isn’t good right now. If we leave her here alone, I have a feeling something bad will happen soon."

"Forget it. I’ll call Hannah and have her bring Lynn over to pick Renee Sinclair up. If she has some other girls with her, she should feel less stressed."

"Okay," Felix Preston agreed.

Mason Shaw clutched his phone in his hand, waiting until they were out on the street in front of the hotel before calling Hannah Sutton.

He briefly explained Renee Sinclair’s situation and, after confirming Hannah Sutton was willing to come, gave her the hotel’s address.

After finishing the call, he stuffed the phone into his pocket and got into Felix Preston’s car.

"Let’s get going. Hannah and Lynn are already on their way to Kyloria."
