Chapter 641: Chapter 639: Sour Son, Spicy Daughter

"Su Shuochi, everyone in the hospital is watching us! Put me down," Gu Jiaojiao urged, shoving at him.

But Su Shuochi didn’t let go this time. "Honey, I was so worried about you. Just let me hold you for a bit."

Seeing Su Shuochi’s anxious expression, Gu Jiaojiao found it amusing.

She leaned in and whispered in his ear, "You don’t have to worry. The baby is already over three months along. The most dangerous period has already passed while we were busy."

Hearing Gu Jiaojiao’s words, Su Shuochi’s spirits soared. He picked her up and started jumping for joy, laughing boisterously without any regard for his image.

He remembered last year, during the early stages of Second Sister-in-law Gu’s pregnancy. She and Second Brother Gu hadn’t known they were about to become parents, and their "activities" had nearly cost them the baby.

The Gu Family had ordered them to sleep in separate rooms. He had thought at the time that when it was his turn, when his wife was pregnant...

...he would definitely be able to control himself. He absolutely wouldn’t let something as horrifying as what happened to Second Brother Gu and his wife occur.

Su Shuochi was incredibly relieved they had all been busy overseas. Even though they slept in each other’s arms every night, they had done a lot less "exercising."

If they had been carrying on like that at home, he didn’t even dare to imagine the consequences.

Standing to the side, Zhou Zhenhui was infected by Su Shuochi’s goofy antics. He watched the couple spinning around and shouted.

"Mr. Su, put your wife down! If people see you acting like this, they’ll think you’ve never been a father before!"

But Su Shuochi retorted with confidence, "I *haven’t* been a father before! What’s so funny about that? Can’t I be happy about becoming a dad for the first time?"

Zhou Zhenhui: "..."

Zhou Zhenhui’s doctor friend: "..."

The crowd of onlookers: "..."

After a few seconds of stunned silence, the crowd erupted in wave after wave of laughter.

Gu Jiaojiao was surprised. Her husband wasn’t a complete fool after all; he was still sharp enough to trade barbs with Zhou Zhenhui.

"Look what you’ve done. You’ve infected Boss Zhou with your foolishness," she grumbled softly to her husband.

Feeling the heated stares of the crowd, her face turned crimson with embarrassment.

Seeing the incomparably handsome man laughing so joyfully, the doctor cautiously suggested,

"Sir, Ma’am, your baby is three months along. Would you like to schedule a color ultrasound?"

"Thank you, Doctor, but we don’t need one. My wife is a doctor herself," Su Shuochi refused flatly.

’What a joke. The equipment in his wife’s space is countless times more advanced than anything in the major hospitals in Hong Kong City.’

’Besides, he didn’t care about the baby’s gender. A girl would be great, and a boy would be nice, too. As long as the baby was theirs, it would be perfect.’

Seeing his proud expression, Gu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but chide him. "Did you really have to say it like that?"

"Honey, let me carry you. I’m terrified you’ll get bumped or hurt," Su Shuochi said, holding her even tighter.

"Do you have to be so nervous? I didn’t get pregnant today, I just found out today."

"I’m worried about *you* being nervous. Don’t think I can’t see it," he said, his eyes twinkling.

"Jiaojiao, from now on, let your husband take care of you," he whispered in her ear, his words simple but heartfelt.

Gu Jiaojiao’s face instantly flushed red. She couldn’t help but reach out and pinch the soft muscle on his chest. "I’m not that fragile."

The man winced in pain, but his expression remained deeply affectionate. "Honey, go on, pinch harder. It doesn’t hurt at all."

Gu Jiaojiao was so amused by his silliness that she burst out laughing. Zhou Zhenhui raised his camera—CLICK!—and captured the moment.

In that moment, time seemed to stand still, a warm, sweet affection flowing between the husband and wife.

Zhou Zhenhui took several more snapshots, then asked with a wide smile, "Mr. Su, Jiaojiao, what are you in the mood for tonight?"

"How about we go for hot pot tonight?" Gu Jiaojiao suggested after a moment’s thought.

"Boss Zhou, let’s go for drinks to celebrate me becoming a father," Su Shuochi invited happily.

Zhou Zhenhui agreed immediately. "Sounds good! And we can also celebrate me becoming a godfather."

"Deal. On behalf of my daughter, I accept you as her godfather."

They left the hospital. Su Shuochi carried Gu Jiaojiao to the car and settled her in the back seat, while Zhou Zhenhui took the front passenger seat.

The three of them chatted and laughed, creating a warm atmosphere in the car. The driver watched them and sighed to himself.

’His boss refuses to get married, yet here he is, grinning like a fool while watching someone else’s blissful happiness!’

Su Shuochi and Zhou Zhenhui chatted happily the entire way, their conversation revolving around his daughter. Before long, they arrived at their destination: a hot pot restaurant.

The moment they walked in, a staff member came over and greeted them enthusiastically. "Mr. Su, welcome! This way, please!"

"A private room, please," Zhou Zhenhui said with a slight nod. Su Shuochi followed, his arm around his wife.

The server replied, "Yes, we have a room. We received a call from your assistant and have everything nearly ready. We can begin serving whenever you’d like."

"Then let’s start. And remember to bring a bottle of brandy," Zhou Zhenhui instructed the server.

He handed the menu to Su Shuochi with a beaming smile. "Take a look and see what you two want to eat. Order anything you like."

"Alright. I’ll see what she can’t eat," Su Shuochi said, not standing on ceremony. He took the menu and began studying it seriously.

Su Shuochi ordered a table full of spicy dishes. He remembered that when Second Sister-in-law Gu was pregnant with her daughter, she had craved spicy food.

Gu Jiaojiao looked up at him and found him studying her intently, his deep, dark eyes filled with tenderness and adoration.

They locked eyes and smiled. Gu Jiaojiao teased, "Su Shuochi, you don’t really think Second Brother Gu’s daughter was the result of eating spicy food, do you?"

"Isn’t that how it works? Hehe, your mother even mentioned the old saying: ’crave sour for a boy, crave spicy for a girl’."

"’Crave sour for a boy, crave spicy for a girl’ means that a pregnant woman who likes spicy food might have a daughter, while one who likes sour food might have a son."

After thinking for a moment, Su Shuochi couldn’t resist asking, "Honey, what do you like to eat?"

"Oh, Su Shuochi, haven’t you noticed? I like sour things *and* spicy things," Gu Jiaojiao whined playfully.

"Haha! Our daughter really is one of a kind! She’s not picky about sour or spicy," Su Shuochi laughed, flashing a grin of pearly white teeth.

The server, menu in hand, was just leaving the private room. Before he could close the door, a flamboyantly dressed woman shoved it open and stormed in.

She spoke in a strange, mocking tone, "Then has it ever occurred to you that your wife might be pregnant with something that’s neither a boy nor a girl?"

At her words, the atmosphere in the private room instantly froze.

"Who is this madwoman, and what nonsense are you spouting?" Su Shuochi’s expression darkened as he snapped at her.

"You’re the madman! Do you have any idea who I am? I’ll tell you what—I’m here for *him*," Lin Yuxi shouted, her eyes welling with tears as she pointed at Zhou Zhenhui.

Su Shuochi turned to Zhou Zhenhui, his face grim. "You know her?"

’He needed to know if Zhou Zhenhui recognized this lunatic. He wanted to beat the hell out of her.’
