Chapter 437: Chapter 467: This Man Can’t Be Spoiled

Though the taste was exquisite, Shen Yi was afraid of truly provoking Qin Jiao. He quickly flashed a grin and murmured sweet nothings in her ear for a good while. After washing up, he finally pulled her into his arms.

Qin Jiao wasn’t actually angry, but she knew she couldn’t spoil him. Especially not the Shen Yi of today, who was, in fact, rather childish around her.

She had heard the saying before: men are boys until the day they die.

Knowing that was one thing, but rules still had to be established.

Fortunately, Shen Yi grumbled a bit, but even though he wanted to keep going, he restrained himself. He held Qin Jiao, murmured more sweet nothings in her ear, and soon fell asleep.

Qin Jiao snuggled closer into his embrace and closed her eyes, a faint smile gracing her lips.

After attending Du Liya and Beidou’s wedding, they stayed at a grandaunt’s old castle for two days. Afterward, they visited the places where Du Liya had studied and spent time shopping.

The vacation ended all too soon. Qin Jiao and Shen Yi headed back home first, as Du Liya and Beidou still had some matters to attend to.

Du Liya said guiltily, "Xiao Yi, I won’t be coming back for the Spring Festival this year. Please keep your grandpa company for me."

Shen Yi had been in high spirits these past few days, so he agreed without hesitation.

Du Liya was still a little worried; she wasn’t entirely at ease letting the two "kids" go off on their own. Beidou, however, chimed in, "Still calling them kids? It might not be long before there’s a little one."

"How would you know?"

"Heh heh, I just know."

Du Liya was completely baffled. ’Since when,’ she wondered, ’did my own son start sharing secrets with my second husband?’

Meanwhile, after a long journey, Qin Jiao and Shen Yi finally made it back. Their gifts had been sent via checked luggage, and she immediately started handing out the things she’d brought back to her family.

Xiao Cheng received a model car and was absolutely ecstatic. He had become much more outgoing, and his favorite thing to do now was trail after Xiao Shi like a little shadow.

He whispered, "Thank you, Big Sis!"

Qin Jiao was the eldest of the younger generation in the Old Qin Family. With the exception of the little troublemaker, Xiao Tao, even Qin Xiaolan called her "Big Sis."

Qin Jiao responded with a beaming smile and turned to hand out gifts to the others.

After returning, it was time to hit the books, as final exams were just around the corner.

Fortunately, neither Qin Jiao nor Shen Yi had fallen behind in their studies, so they found reviewing to be a breeze. Once New Year’s Day had passed and the exams began to roll in, North City entered the coldest part of the year.

On the day of an exam, Shen Yi was driving Qin Jiao to school. Light snowflakes began to fall outside, and Shen Yi said wistfully, "Things were better back in Ping’an Town. We could huddle together for warmth back then."

Qin Jiao glanced at the down jacket he was wearing—one they had bought abroad—and said, deadpan, "Are you cold right now?"

Shen Yi sighed. "Alas, my body isn’t cold, but my heart is. It needs my dear wife to warm it up before it gets better."

"So, you already had those intentions back when we were squeezing into that three-wheeler?"

"Jiao Jiao, I’ve *always* had those intentions when it comes to you."

Ever since they had opened up to each other completely, they no longer had to hold back their words. The only fly in the ointment was that they still weren’t old enough to get a marriage license, a fact that was constantly on Shen Yi’s mind.

This was especially true when they arrived at school and he spotted Qin Jiao’s upperclassman, Xu Zhengyang.

Previously, Xu Zhengyang had only harbored a small crush on Qin Jiao. He was a level-headed person, so it had remained a secret admiration.

But then Han Juan had blurted it out—right in front of Qin Jiao’s boyfriend. Xu Zhengyang had been mortified and started ignoring even Han Juan after that.

Qin Jiao had also been busy. She had gone on a trip abroad, and after returning, she was occupied with the garment factory while also studying computer science on her own, so she hadn’t run into him a single time.

Now that they had finally run into him, before Qin Jiao or Shen Yi could even say a word, Xu Zhengyang took one look, turned his head, and just... walked away?
