Chapter 436: Chapter 466: No, No, No, No! We Can’t Just Forget It
Qin Jiao had finished her shower, her long hair hanging loose. The bathroom here came equipped with a hairdryer, and she had already used it to blow her hair until it was about half-dry.
She had called home earlier, and since everything was fine, Qin Jiao now felt completely at ease.
She was leaning back, engrossed in a book. The mere sight of her profile was enough to make Shen Yi stop in his tracks, unwilling to move.
He leaned in close and said, "Jiao Jiao, it’s just this one room for tonight. We’ll have to make do."
"That’s fine," Qin Jiao said, looking up with a smile. "Don’t worry about it. If it’s really an issue, I can just go into the space."
Shen Yi: "..."
To be honest, Shen Yi had always found it incredible that Qin Jiao possessed such a space, and he was grateful that she had shared the secret with him.
Xiao Shi also knew about it, but she had been very young at the time. Qin Jiao had only told her it was a magical place. After Xiao Shi went to North City, she started school, made new friends, and encountered all sorts of new things. Coupled with the fact that the little girl was now determined to study hard and catch up to her sister’s grades, she had actually forgotten all about the secret space.
Qin Jiao and Shen Yi had also agreed that they had to rely on their own efforts. The space was just a support tool; they couldn’t become too dependent on it. After all, it could just vanish without warning one day.
Overall, though, the space had been an immense help to them, especially the Spiritual Spring Water.
But now...
Shen Yi found himself feeling a bit resentful toward the space. ’If it didn’t exist, I probably could have been kissing and cuddling Jiao Jiao a long time ago.’
Qin Jiao pushed him away with a laugh. "Go on, hurry up and take a shower. You still reek of perfume."
"Jiao Jiao, I have to explain," Shen Yi said hurriedly. "That smell is from my parents’ room. I have no idea what they were doing, but their room is filled with some fragrance..." He trailed off, suddenly feeling a flush of heat.
Qin Jiao seemed to realize something too, and the tips of her ears turned red. She gave him a hard shove. "Go on! Hurry and wash that smell off!"
There are certain special aromatherapy scents that particularly affectionate couples sometimes burn in the bedroom.
Others might not have known, but Shen Yi and Qin Jiao, having lived an extra decade-plus, how could they not?
In the end, looking utterly aggrieved, Shen Yi had no choice but to retreat to the bathroom and... take a cold shower.
It wasn’t as if he’d get sick from it, but after this happened several times, Shen Yi grew quiet. As much as he wanted her, he didn’t want to force Jiao Jiao, and so things had reached this impasse.
A little after ten, the lights went out. The two of them lay side-by-side, straight as boards.
Shen Yi was expertly counting sheep when an arm suddenly reached over and draped across his chest.
Shen Yi instantly went rigid.
"Jiao Jiao?"
"Didn’t you buy those things a long time ago?"
Shen Yi guessed what she might be implying, and his heart nearly leaped out of his chest.
It was almost comical. Counting their ages from before their rebirth, they were both well past their youth and knew everything one was supposed to know, yet they were both utterly lacking in experience.
Shen Yi reached out and took Qin Jiao’s hand. "Can I?" he asked tentatively.
"If you don’t want to, then we can just forget it."
"No, no, no, no! We can’t forget it!"
Shen Yi proceeded to show her with his actions just how much they couldn’t forget it, and just how much he wanted to...
Though they were in a foreign land and the night was long, the couple, having finally unraveled the knots in their hearts, began to mend the regrets of their past life, one by one.
It was just that a certain someone, having been pent up for far too long, it seemed, was still not satisfied, and was finally kicked onto the floor by an annoyed Qin Jiao.
"Get to sleep! Now! Or else you can forget about sleeping ever again!"
