Chapter 433: Chapter 463: Finding You Too Old

Du Liya and Beidou’s wedding was a grand affair, with many guests in attendance.

Relatives from the Du family were there as well. Besides Zheng Duo and Zheng Zhuli, whom Qin Jiao had met before, Mr. Du’s younger sister, Du Anni, had also come.

Du Anni was in her sixties but looked much younger. She took good care of herself and was a sharp dresser, making her look like a high-society woman in her forties or fifties.

Standing beside her was a very handsome foreign man, around the same age as Zheng Duo, holding her arm affectionately.

Shen Yi leaned in and whispered to Qin Jiao, "That’s my grandaunt. The man with her is her new boyfriend."

Qin Jiao was taken aback. "Hasn’t she already been married four times?"

"Yep. When the feelings are gone, they part amicably and she moves on to find new love."

Qin Jiao was shocked, and a little envious.

Looking at the grandaunt, and then at Du Liya, Qin Jiao remarked with a sigh, "The women in your family are all so impressive."

"You’re one of our family’s women, too," Shen Yi immediately corrected.

Qin Jiao said with a faint smile, "I mean they all manage to be doted on by younger men."

Shen Yi...

He quickly said, "Jiao Jiao, don’t start disliking me. I’m still plenty young, only twenty!"

"Mm, you are pretty young. I won’t start disliking you." Qin Jiao thought for a moment, then added, "At least, not right now."

Shen Yi...

’He decided that once this was all over and they were back home, he would start working out seriously. And he’d start a skincare routine right away. He absolutely could not let himself get wrinkles!’

While waiting for the bride and groom to appear, the bride’s family naturally sat together. Du Anni took a great liking to Qin Jiao. Patting Qin Jiao’s hand, she said, "After everything here is settled, you two should come stay with me for a few days. I have a wedding gift for you, but I couldn’t bring it with me. I’ll give it to you then." She patted Qin Jiao’s hand again and sighed, "What a pretty young lady! When you have the chance, you must come visit your grandaunt more often."

Qin Jiao smiled and nodded. "I will, Grandaunt."

Soon, the ceremony began. It was an outdoor wedding, much like the Western-style ceremonies Qin Jiao was familiar with. Since Mr. Du wasn’t in good health, the role of the father of the bride was changed to that of the bride’s brother, with Zheng Duo standing in.

The bride walked to the groom. After exchanging rings, the two embraced and kissed. Then, when it came time for the bouquet toss, it landed right in Qin Jiao’s arms.

The people around them applauded good-naturedly. Qin Jiao looked up at the stage to see Du Liya smiling at her. In that moment, her own heart felt full of happiness.

Shen Yi, however, wasn’t too pleased.

’Even if it’s a sham marriage, they’re still married! That bouquet has no sense at all. Why did it have to fly into his wife’s arms?’

’And it was Mom’s fault, too. What was she thinking, throwing it so carelessly!’

Thankfully, the little interlude passed quickly, and everyone moved on to the buffet and champagne.

Shen Yi stuck close to Qin Jiao’s side, pointing out which dishes were delicious and which wines she shouldn’t drink too much of.

Not far away, Du Anni took Du Liya’s hand and said, "I used to watch you chasing after that man, and it broke my heart and made me angry at the same time. But things are better now. You’ve married Beidou, and I can tell he loves you very much. And Xiao Yi seems more mature now, too. The last time I called, I heard my brother’s health has improved a lot as well. Now that you’re all doing better, I can finally be at ease."

Some unpleasantness had occurred back in the country previously, which was why Du Anni hadn’t been able to return.
