Chapter 412: Chapter 442: The Male Protagonist’s Halo Got Wasted

If this were the old Shen Yi, he would have charged over and beaten up Shen Feng by now. But holding Qin Jiao’s soft hand, he immediately suppressed the violent urge rising within him.

Qin Jiao tried to pull her hand away but couldn’t. She gave Shen Yi a helpless glare.

Shen Yi grinned at her. Though he was handsome, he looked a bit dorky in that moment, like a big, goofy puppy.

His antics made the corners of her own mouth lift into a smile.

But the sight of them smiling at each other was an eyesore to Shen Feng. His gaze darkened, and he clenched his fists, his expression growing even more inscrutable.

As for the other four men, they remained silent. They were, after all, just hired movers.

In a terrible mood, Shen Feng took out his key and opened the door, only to be met with Li Xiaomei’s smiling face.

Li Xiaomei smiled and said, "Xiao Feng, what are you doing home so early? I thought you were going to buy books with Sun Lili..."

Then she saw Qin Jiao and Shen Yi standing behind him, and the smile instantly vanished from her face. After a few seconds’ pause, Li Xiaomei asked in a hostile tone, "What are you two doing here?"

They’d already had a major falling out during driving lessons, and with other incidents since then, Li Xiaomei felt no need to put on an act for them. She might as well be direct about how unwelcome they were.

Shen Yi said, "We’re here to pick something up."

"Pick what up? Didn’t you already take everything that was yours?!"

"Don’t worry, I’m not interested in Shen Zhengfeng’s things. I’m only taking what’s mine." Shen Yi spotted the piano in the living room and waved to the men behind him. "Come and move it."

When Li Xiaomei saw Shen Yi actually order people to move the piano, she panicked. She rushed forward to block them. "What are you, robbers? This is my family’s property! Barging in here to steal things—watch it, or I’ll call the police!"

Shen Yi was dumbfounded. "This piano was a gift for me. It was delivered to your house by mistake."

Li Xiaomei refused to budge an inch. "What nonsense are you spouting? Brother Feng knew I love playing the piano, so he bought this especially for me!"

Shen Yi gave Qin Jiao a complicated look, as if to say, ’I see you were right.’

Qin Jiao said calmly, "Ma’am, I suggest you call Shen Zhengfeng right now. That should clear things up."

"Heh, don’t you call me ’Ma’am.’ I couldn’t possibly bear the honor! Brother Feng is busy. Why would I call and disturb him?!"

At that moment, Shen Feng, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke up. "Just call him and ask!"

For some reason, Shen Feng had a gut feeling that Qin Jiao and Shen Yi weren’t the type to just show up and steal something. They were far too confident. He worried that if his mom really had made a mistake, things would get incredibly ugly if she kept this up.

Li Xiaomei was taken aback by her son’s words, but Shen Yi had already lost his patience. He walked right past her, dialed Shen Zhengfeng’s number, and put the call on speaker.

Li Xiaomei grumbled, "Acting like he owns the place!"

Shen Feng’s brow furrowed in frustration.

Qin Jiao, however, gave the mother-son duo a few extra glances.

’If Shen Feng had lost his protagonist aura, his mother, Li Xiaomei, was probably responsible for ruining at least a third of it with her theatrics.’

A moment later, Shen Zhengfeng picked up. "Xiao Mei, I’ll be home soon. You can start making dinner."

Shen Yi chuckled softly. "Shen Zhengfeng, it’s me. I’m here to move my piano, but your wife is saying you gave it to her?"

Shen Zhengfeng: "..."

He was a man who prized his reputation above all else. Hearing that, he immediately snapped, "I never said anything of the sort!"
