"Are you two ready" I heard Cecil’s voice. As a defensive magic expert he is acting as the referee. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"Yes, I am" Surprisingly Elena replied in a firm voice. She seems to be in a completely serious mood as she holds her magic staff with both hands.
Come to think of it, there weren’t many fight scenes of her in the game except for the final battle but it was said that she was a battle junkie in her younger days.
"I am also ready" Both of us are using wooden magic staves since the metal one can be fatal if we enter a close combat fight.
"Alright, battle begins"
As soon as Cecil declared the start, winds started flowing through the battle ground.
Elena also has twin attributes of wind and dark. One of her attributes is a higher attribute which places her talent among prodigies.
Currently other than the royal family, the only people with one of their twin attributes being a higher attribute are probably in the ducal families, even that I can’t say for sure.
Actually if her attribute was light instead of the dark then Elena had received much higher attention throughout the kingdom since here most people are devotees of the Light Goddess.
That’s why even though dark is also a higher attribute not many in the kingdom see it in a positive light.

Yude’s POV:-
Gael and I are sitting not far from the battle ground, the spar is about to begin.
Although it was Gael’s proposal, I am also excited to see this sparring match.
I have heard that his daughter Elena is a prodigy with potential to become a sage but I have also seen Kai sparring and practicing with the knights and knows that he is extraordinary.
"So, how is Lady Kira" Gael asked me a completely irrelevant question.
"You have lots of guts, what if I tell this to lady Adelia?" I tried to tease him a little.
Actually when we first met Kira, we were both attracted to her beauty like any normal guy would, but when Gael met Adelia, he completely gave up on our competition and I seized the chance and sent the marriage proposal to Kira’s family.
"Stop it, it’s already been years since then, how long are you gonna hold that topic"
"Well it’s just I never expected my rival to give up so easily, but I was really happy when you told me about it"
"Happy? You were laughing at me, and calling me a beauty chaser"

"Alright, the battle begins" We stopped our chat as we heard Cecil’s voice.
I can see wind gathering around the battlefield, of course because both of them have wind elements which is good for a starting move, their basics are clear, very well.

Narrator POV:-
None of them make any move for few seconds, they are trying to test their opponent but it seems Elena starts losing patients as she cast the first spell.
Elena cast "wind slash" a basic wind spell, as the wind condensed into two blades and hit where Kai was standing.
But before the blades could reach him he had already moved far away or I should say far above by using "Gale", it’s also a basic spell but Kai is not using it for attack, instead he uses this spell to control his movements.
After jumping high Kai again used ’Gale’ to move diagonally, directly towards Elena.
It’s important to analyze your opponent’s strong and weak points, and generally people with high magical power neglects their physical combat ability, that was Kai’s conclusion.
Elena also didn’t set still, she also cast ’Gale’ while moving backwards but unlike Kai she used it to attack, clearly showing her intention of avoiding close combat.

Kai Praised her in his mind as he again used Gale to change his direction and landed on the right side of his original direction.
𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘬.
Kai swing his staff in a long arc from left to right, as an almost five foot long wind blade is released from it.
It was a technique call ’Simulation’ in which the user makes a suitable motion to increase the effectiveness of their spell. Although it seems easy but it requires constant practice to use it efficiently.
Elena who has again put some distance between them made a weird turn and hit the head of her staff on the ground, more precisely on her shadow.
Suddenly a semi physical extension is raised from her shadow, turning into a defensive wall.
It was "Shadow Barrier" a very useful defensive spells but it has one down side, it can only be use when there is shadow or darkness around the user which means it’s unusable against light or fire type attacks.
"Thud!" Both the barrier and the blade shattered as soon as they hit each other, Kai used that time to again close the distance.
But instead of getting flustered, Elena just snorted while backing off, she casted another spell and hit her shadow again but instead of condensing, this time the shadow expanded, enveloping both of them in it.
’Curtain of Darkness’ a control type skill, it covers the area around the user, disabling everyone’s sense of sight except those with dark attribute thus is very useful when dealing with non-dark type magic users.
"Area of effect spell! Very impressive" Yude said with a surprised look.
"Elena’s talent is just special, normally it takes several years to learn such level of control spell" Gael replied with pride.
"Yeah it is a very troublesome technique for people without ’Vision’, so normal low level and even some mid level adventurers are helpless against it" Yude replied in a analytical tune like it’s completely irrelevant to the current situation.
Gael couldn’t help but frown in wonder at Yude’s confident attitude.

Before Gael’s train if thoughts reached station, he already got his answer.
In the battle ground, covered in the darkness Kai closed his eyes for a second and when he reopened them there was a slight glint in his turquoise blue eyes, that’s ’Vision’.
’Elemental Vision’ is a unique technique that’s available among most of the elements with different principles and results but the same aim, and that is to "See" or more precisely to examine every detail of your surroundings by using your affinity with your attribute.
Kai is using "Wind Vision" which is regarded as one of the most useful visions in ’normal’ circumstances among all the elemental visions, of course it all depends on the location and the situation in the end.
Elena who is oblivious of this, fires another round of ’Wind Slash’, but she quickly realizes something is wrong because Kai easily dodges them even without using Gale.
Using an area of effect magic consumes large amounts of magic power which causes a decrease in the power of other spells.
Kai knowing this fully well immediately cast ’Water Arrows’ as four arrows made up of water are fired at Elena.
Elena again showed her quick decision making skill as she immediately retrieved the ’Curtain of Darkness’ and used Gale to slow the arrows.
She jumped back and immediately cast another defensive spell, ’Shadow Barrier’ which blocked the arrows but in this haze she didn’t realize when Kai had already reached her blind spot.
Kai swung his staff, there is a solid looking ball of water attached to the top of his staff. As Kai swung it, the ball flown in an arc and reached Elena’s blind spot.
It was ’Aqua Hammer’, a simple attack type magic, but it requires accurate judgement and a lot of practice to improve the aim.
Just a moment before the attack could hit Elena, a barrier appeared and blocked the attack, it was Cecil who made the barrier.
"The match is over, Lady Elena couldn’t stop the attack so Lord Kai wins!"
