Chapter 9: Chapter 9. Assassination
The colossal serpent gobbled down the head of the lady. Her headless body remained on the ground. Her blood oozed all over the place.
It was a very chilling thing to see.
Aiden did not move. He remained behind the tree.
As a matter of fact, he retreated several distances away from the place covertly. He found a tree and climbed it. He observed the snake from above.
Although he knew he could kill the snake from its blind spot, he planned on doing that from a place where if the plan backfired, he would have some time to escape.
Aiden also knew although the snake was a beginner rank 1 chaotic beast , it was stronger than him. The only advantage he would have to take it down was through an assassination. And to carry out an assassination, he had to be as patient as the serpent itself. He had to wait for when the serpent was in a very vulnerable state, before he took it now.
The serpent proceeded to swallow the headless bodies of the guy and the lady. After that, it lay down beneath a tree.
A glint flashed through Aiden’s eyes.
"When large snakes like this finish having large meals, they usually rest for a while. Perhaps, it could be falling asleep very soon. That will be my chance," Aiden thought.
He planned on waiting for the creature to fall asleep.

Meanwhile, outside the gate.
It had been three days since the gate had been discovered.
Several individuals were currently gathered outside the gate the bullet train had disappeared into. Reporters flashed across the place. Media houses were trying to cover what had happened.
The families who were aware that their loved ones were on the train that disappeared into the gate, had also gathered across the place. The Warriors Association and the Academic Federation people were trying to calm them down, assuring them that they were going to try everything possible to get them out of the pocket world.
At the moment, a couple was among the group of families. They had expressions ranging from fear and shock on their faces.
"It’s been really confirmed that our son was on the train," Falan said.
William did not know what to say. He had a complex expression on his face.
The couple held each other’s hand.
"Do you think we pushed him too far?" Falan said.
"Pushed him too far?" William said with a sigh. "We only had his best interest at heart in my opinion."
Falan sighed. "You are right. I just hope he’s safe."
"And if he’s not able to come out... I don’t want you to blame yourself. We can always have another child. But, I only have one wife. We wanted the best for our son, he just couldn’t see it," William said.
Someone heard their conversation and shook their head. What a weird couple. Their son was part of those who unfortunately entered the gate and were lost in the pocket world, and they were not even hoping he could return alive? Trying to even justify whatever they did to probably push him away from them? What a bunch of self entitled fuckers.
The back of a dark skinned woman with blue hair and eyes, wearing a suit, faced a group of people, about to enter the gate. A small device that looked like a phone was placed at the edge of the gate.
"This is the final reading. If the outcome is the same, we can finally confirm it’s a rank 1 gate, then we can enter," the dark skinned woman said.
"Alright," the leader of the rescue team, a buffed man with a mustache, geared up, with a cerulean sword strapped across his back, replied.
Beep beep.
The woman looked at the reading.
"It’s been confirmed. It’s a rank 1 gate. Let’s move in."
The rescue team entered the gate. The families watched their backs with worry etched on their faces. They could only pray that their loved ones were safe, and the rescue team from Derulo City University would be able to bring them back.

Aiden was quiet. He watched the snake from afar on the tree.
A whole day passed. It was still not asleep. But, it was dozing off. Its large bead-like eyes would close and open consecutively.
"The day will be passing here soon. The moon of the pocket world is up. Pocket worlds usually have different time periods compared to that of Endra. I wonder how long it has been out there. I can only hope I can still enrol when I leave. But for now, let’s focus on what’s before us," Aiden thought.
Eventually, the snake closed its eyes. Its large body started to heave. It was sleeping and breathing.
Aiden waited for a while. He wanted the creature to sleep deeply before he tried to assassinate it. Very soon, the creature was deeply asleep.
A glint flashed through his eyes. Aiden’s eyes turned crimson as his blood appeared before him.
The blood turned into three normal looking crimson arrows. The crimson arrows floated close to each other and eventually merged into one large arrow.
The pointed arrow tip undulated for a moment adjusted in shape. The tip became more pointed and sharp. The night light of the pocket world caused the tip to gleam.
"Perfect," Aiden thought.
By his will, the blood arrow shot towards the closed eye of the sleeping serpent with blinding speed.
Puchi...
The creature’s other eye flashed open with alertness. But it was too late. The blood arrow proceeded through the left eye into its brain, impaling the brain.
The creature struggled. Its body lashed around for a few moments in pain before it went silent.
Blood oozed out of the eye socket that previously held the eye Aiden’s blood arrow had destroyed. The other eye became static and lifeless. It was dead.
Aiden leaped away from the tree. His figure flashed and he appeared before the dead body of the snake.
Aiden suddenly heard human footsteps.
