Chapter 10: Chapter 10. What happens in a pocket world stays in a pocket world
Aiden suddenly heard footsteps. He didn’t know who or what was approaching. But if they were warriors, there was no way he would let them steal his harvest.
Aiden closed his eyes slightly. Aiden reached for the blood essence within the dead body with awareness. The blood essence responded. The blood essence flowed into him.
He felt a surge, greater than he had felt the previous time he absorbed the blood essence of the hobgoblins. He opened his eyes. A crimson hue flashed through his eyes and disappeared.
After that, he used a knife he formed from his blood to dig out the energy core of the creature.
Aiden took out his storage bag. Just when he was about to put the corpse of the snake and the energy core into it, the approaching individuals finally revealed themselves. They stared at the snake and the large energy core. Glints of greed flashed through their eyes.
Aiden looked at them calmly. Two ladies and two men. Youngsters like him. Beginner rank 1 warriors. He did not stop what he was doing.
The storage bag faced the corpse of the snake and the energy core. The corpse of the snake and the energy core disappeared into the storage bag. Aiden put the storage bag into his pocket and zipped it.
Aiden turned around to walk away. The blood of the hobgoblin leader he killed earlier was still on his face and his body. He had to wash it away. He wanted to find a nearby water body and do that. He felt very uncomfortable.
"Wait..." Someone stepped out from the group of four, just as Aiden was about walking away. A tall lanky dude wearing t-shirts, jeans and sneakers. "I can assume you are a warrior right?"
Aiden ignored him and started walking away. However, the fellow suddenly appeared before him with the rest of the group.
"Why don’t we work together? We stand a greater chance of surviving here before a rescue team arrives if we work together," the lanky dude said.
However, Aiden noticed the subtle mask he wore in his eyes. Greed. He looked at the rest of the group too. The other guy and the two other ladies definitely had similar thoughts.
They wanted to make him think they wanted to work with him, then when he was not expecting it, they would launch a lethal strike at the same time, kill him and take his storage bag. If they sold the contents of his storage bag, they would get a lot of money to purchase resources for cultivation, such as movement techniques, cultivation manuals, combat techniques, weapons, medicines, among others. These fellows were most likely about to enrol in Derulo City University just like him.
"Sorry but not interested," Aiden replied calmly.
"Then don’t blame us for being forceful."
A sharp katana appeared into the hand of the tall lanky fellow. It gleamed with otherworldly sharpness. Spinning flames blazed across the weapon. The weapon came down on Aiden.
"Fast," Aiden muttered. He narrowly evaded the attack.
However, a red scorchy mark appeared across his cheek. The sound of flesh burning wafted through the place. Aiden felt the pain. But it was not severe. Suddenly, he felt the pain disappearing as the wound disappeared completely. The skin across his cheek returned to normal.
"Looks like I won’t be needing medicines in the future. This transformed body’s self healing abilities are quite terrifying. I’m certain this will get better and better as I become stronger," Aiden thought.
Usually, warriors had to rely on those with light affinity and medicines of Alchemists that boosted wound healing and bolstered regeneration to recover from wounds. Unless a warrior’s natural affinity was regeneration, they would always carry healing medicines with them. If they were a group headed into a gate or a danger zone too, apart from each warrior carrying healing medicines with them, at least, it was common sense to carry someone with a light affinity with them.
The group of four were shocked. Did this guy have a regeneration affinity or something? If they did not attack this guy together, there was no way to get rid of him and take his storage bag.
One of the ladies shot a Lightning ball towards him. Another shot a conical earth ball towards him. The other guy held a water whip. He motioned his hand forward. The water whip cleaved through the air, heading towards him. The fellow who had launched the flame attack earlier retrieved his katana. A large fireball materialised in his hand and shot towards Aiden.
The attacks descended on Aiden at the same time.
Aiden waved his hand. His blood materialised before him and transformed into a crimson sword. Aiden held it.
Aiden moved. The sword cleaved through the air like an arc. It destroyed the water whip, the conical earth ball, the fireball and the lightnng ball at the same time.
Aiden disappeared from where he stood.
Four slashes. Fast.
Screams. Heads rolled. Blood splurged. Four thuds.
Aiden stood before the four corpses. The four heads were a few meters apart, shock and fear etched on the faces. The headless bodies remained a few distances apart, blood pooling beneath.
"People just don’t know how to mind their business," Aiden sighed as the crimson sword turned into blobs of blood and returned into him.
"What happens in a pocket world stays in a pocket world ." Aiden did not know the kinds of backgrounds they had. But he didn’t care about any repercussions for his actions. This was how pocket worlds worked. No one could attribute anything to him. Everything would be blamed on environmental hazards. Unless there was a witness that could have snitched on him to any backgrounds they were from, he was in the clear.
Aiden absorbed their blood essence and left the place.
Eventually, he found a small pond. After confirming nothing dangerous was in the vicinity He entered it to wash himself. After that, he left the pond and changed his clothes into new ones. A t-shirt, some jeans and sneakers.
"That’s better. Time to enter the mountains and see what’s there."
