Chapter 41: Chapter 41.Overconfident?

Several holographic screens came to life.

The female instructor, floating before all students and staff members, spoke.

"For the sake of our first year students, let’s go over the rules of the monthly combat evaluations.

First year students are allowed to request duels with senior year students. Senior year students can only duel those of the same year or above.

First year students are also allowed to duel those of the same year.

One can either choose to accept a duel or reject a duel. However, one should at least fight one person before the assessment ends.

Anyone who refuses to have a duel with at least one person by the end of the assessment will be expelled effective immediately.

Note that if you defeat someone you will obtain all their contribution points. If someone also defeats you, they will obtain all of your contribution points.

One last thing. You can take advantage of the combat evaluation to initiate a death duel between you and someone. This death duel can only happen in this arena during the combat evaluation. Under no circumstances should anyone have a death duel here after the evaluation ends. If you want to have a death duel with someone after the evaluation, the death arenas are there fot that.

Anyway, if you request a death duel with someone during the evaluation and the person agrees to the death duel, you can kill them during your match with them. It will still be counted as their defeat and you will obtain their contribution points. If the opponent refuses to turn the duel into a death duel, you are only allowed to defeat them per the rules of the combat evaluation. But killing them is not acceptable. I suppose I don’t have to spell out the consequences of going against this rule. Anyone who thinks they are invincible could try treating my words as trash.

Note, if you lose a duel on three consecutive or separate months for different combat evaluations, you will be expelled from the university.

To request a duel with someone, simply access their names on the Heavenly Ascension ranking list. Their ranks have been updated. Tap on their names and select the option, request duel or request death duel.

After requesting for the duel, the person will receive a notification. They will either choose to accept the duel or not. Those matched up for agreed duels or death duels will be displayed on these large screens for everyone to see. They will also be displayed on the holograms of your university watches. Nothing important to add. You can start selecting your opponents."

After that, she returned to her seat.

The students began to select their opponents at this moment.

"It seems I shouldn’t be worried about a second year trying to have a duel with me. Since it’s not possible," Aiden thought.

"Who do I select? I need to have a death duel with someone. I need blood essence. Since Treehill and Hourglass want to kill me, killing some of their society members won’t be a problem. Treehill and Hourglass cannot have a duel with me since I’m a first year student even if they want to. Right after the assessment, I’m sneaking into a pocket world, so they can’t locate me and kill me even if they wanted to.

I should target the intermediate rank 1 members of their society. Not only will I get blood essence for killing them, I will also get more contribution points.

When we enter the pocket world, I need to make sure my strength is at the level of an advanced rank 1 warrior before we close the gate. I will eliminate Hourglass and the Treehill societies when I return to campus."

Several duels began at this moment.

Various students clashed with one another.

Some were defeated and others won, taking the contribution points of other students.

Asmodeus and Desmonda were challenged by a couple of first year students. However, they overwhelmed those first year students badly and took their contribution points.

Asmodeus had uncanny use of his gravity affinity, devastating his opponents brutally. Desmonda made use of her lightning affinity to launch precise, piercing attacks to overwhelm her enemies.

Several second year, third year, and fourth year students also clashed.

Some with grudges even had death duels and killed one another in the end.

The top rankers on the Heavenly Ascension ranking list demonstrated their prowess, dazzling several students.

Treehill, Hourglass, and other society heads who were on the top rankers list dazzled others with their battles, overwhelming opponents in fierce attacks.

"That Hourglass is quite extraordinary. It’s wise she rejected the duel from an expert rank 1 warrior."

"Yeah, that person is ranked higher among the high rankers than her. But I like how she killed her opponents. Her wood affinity is literally something else."

"Treehill is also not to be underestimated. His sand affinity is not simple. It’s very versatile."

Several people were discussing the battles of various people.

Suddenly, someone stepped forward into an arena.

The strongest first year student, Aiden Vhorn. Ranked 19999 on the Heavenly Ascension Ranking list.

"Wait. Is that Butler from the Treehill faction?"

"Look at the notification. It’s a death duel between them!"

"Aiden Vhorn actually decided to have a duel with Butler? Inasmuch as he’s very strong, Butler is ranked 7000 on the Heavenly Ascension Ranking list. He doesn’t think he can defeat Butler, right? Butler is a second year student with a lot of combat experience, Inasmuch as Aiden is a monster in his own right. I don’t look down on Vhorn, but Butler will kill him."

"Heh, don’t look down on Vhorn so much. He’s not weak."

Hourglass sighed in thought.

"Butler will die." If Aiden Vhorn was weak, she would not decide to take care of him herself. She suspected that among intermediate rank 1 warriors on campus, this fellow was among the strongest. After all, he killed 20 intermediate rank 1 warriors she sent after him.

"Butler..." Treehill thought. "I told him not to be impulsive. He might get himself killed. Well, I will just have to add avenging him to the reason why I will kill Aiden Vhorn."

"It seems this guy is about to shock everyone," Desmonda thought from her seat. After what she had witnessed Aiden do in the rank 1 danger zone, there was no way she would think that Butler could kill him.

"He’s definitely confident. I’m sure he will win. I don’t know this guy well enough, but he’s not a show off. He’s the kind to think before he acts," Asmodeus thought.

Several were having discussions about who would win.

Aiden Vhorn was too daring. He was the only first year student who had not just challenged a senior year student, but a strong one.

Butler may not be on the High rankers list, but he was not weak.

What was Aiden Vhorn trying to arrive at? Was he not being quite overconfident?

Several students thought.

Others also thought that Aiden Vhorn may have a surprise in store. However, the majority leaned towards the fact that Aiden would lose.

In the staff region of the bleachers, many instructors sighed.

"This fellow is quite impulsive."

"I don’t think so," Pamela said.

"I agree with her," Cosmo said.

On the fighting platform, Aiden and Butler stared at each other calmly.
