Chapter 20: Chapter 20..Flame Beserker Buffalos
The three assassins entered the rank 1 danger zone.
The moment they entered the place, Aiden saw something that really shocked him.
The shadow assassin panthers, initially seated somewhere under a tree, retreated quickly into some bushes.
"They don’t want to give their prey even the slightest chance to escape," Aiden thought. "These creatures are as smart as the books say."
The trio moved covertly, scanning the place.
Eventually, they arrived under the tree the shadow panthers were initially seated under.
One of them, the supposed leader, suddenly lifted up his hand, gesturing for the others to stop moving.
"Something seems off. This place is too quiet. Some strong creature’s presence must be sacking all the creatures here away. We should try and find shelter and continue our search tomorrow, it’s late and risky at the moment."
"Smart, but too late," Aiden, observing them from above the tree he was on, thought.
He could see the panthers crouching slowly towards the three assassins from behind.
Suddenly, one of them screamed.
All he saw was a phantom like a gale of wind sweep past him.
His head rolled. Blood splurged. His body fell.
The remaining two saw some of the panthers munching on the body of their fallen comrade.
Fear overtook them.
"Advanced rank 1 chaotic beasts. Run."
They tried to flee the place. However, it was futile.
One panther swiped its claw forward. A large wind blade swept towards the necks of the two remaining assassins.
Their bodies were cut into two from the waist down.
Terror was written all across their faces as they died, their bodies forming a pool of blood.
The panthers, oblivious to the fact that someone was observing everything from the top of a tree not too far away, started feasting on the dead bodies.
Aiden absorbed the blood essence of the three dead bodies.
He felt a very comfortable surge after the absorption.
A crimson hue flashed through his eyes.
The three panthers finished feasting on the dead bodies. Not even a bone remained. They had literally gobbled up everything.
"So this is how I would have ended up if I had become their prey, huh." Aiden felt a chill crawl up his spine. "Being weak is the worst thing that can happen to anyone in this world."
Aiden sighed.
The panthers yawned, then left the place.
"That’s a relief," Aiden thought.
"According to the small scan I was able to do, the route ahead is full of advanced rank 1 chaotic beasts. I should head south."
Aiden decided. He left the tree.
He started running south. His movements were more agile, swift and precise than before. Clearly, after absorbing the blood essence of the three intermediate rank 1 assassins from the Vorisa Family, he was more powerful than before.
"It seems a future conflict between me and the Vorisa family is inevitable." A glint of coldness flashed through Aiden’s eyes. If they had managed to send assassins after him, there was no way they would let him be if he did not put an end to them.
He knew how this would turn out. He would eventually have to kill Steve or Shawn Vorisa.
Since they were most likely the heirs to the Vorisa guild, their father won’t take it lying down when they die. It was only logical and human that he would want revenge for the deaths of his sons.
"But there is a way to ensure that the cause of their deaths is not revealed. But will that even matter? Their father is a guild leader. He’s definitely not stupid," Aiden thought.
"If their sons suddenly die after an altercation with me, he will know that even if I’m not responsible for it, I could be the one behind it, unless... the cause of their deaths is entirely proven with evidence to be someone else."
"The focus will shift entirely to someone else, and he won’t come to suspect me for it. In fact, he could even forget about me and focus solely on punishing the proven culprit. That way, not only do I get rid of these two fellas sending assassins after me, I will also shift the focus of their father from me entirely."
"I will start working on the plan when I get back to campus. For now, let’s focus on the mission."
Aiden eventually came across a group of beginner rank 1 chaotic beasts.
There were 20 of them. They were drinking water before a waterfall.
The chaotic beasts had large bodies. They had scales running all across their bodies. Their scales gleamed in the twin moonlight. They were very large buffalos. They looked very intimidating.
"Flame berserker buffalos. I should be able to use them to refine my combat instincts," Aiden thought. He initially considered using blood arrows to kill them. But he figured he was strong enough to handle them through a direct confrontation. After he absorbed the blood essence of the three assassins, he was more powerful than before. He would use his fight with these chaotic beasts to hone himself.
Aiden openly appeared before them.
The creatures noticed him.
However, they paid him no attention.
They kept drinking their water. Clearly, they were enjoying drinking the water more than hunting him. Or perhaps, they were minding their own business.
But Aiden had other plans.
All he saw was blood essence waiting to be harvested.
His eyes turned crimson as his blood appeared before him and coated his hands. The blood that coated his hands shifted into two crimson gauntlets. The gauntlets gleamed with crimson light. Blood also appeared before him and coated his figure. The blood solidified into some sort of crimson armor. The only part of his body that was uncovered were his eyes.
If anyone saw him, it would look like he was wearing some sort of eerie devilish crimson battlesuit.
"That’s much better."
Aiden moved towards the creatures, his crimson eyes gleaming.
The largest among the beginner rank 1 flame berserker buffalos, the presumed leader, felt something. It’s survival instincts kicked in.
It sensed a threat. It looked at the strange creature approaching and bellowed.
The rest of them stopped drinking and bellowed too.
Flames appeared on their bodies. The flames spiraled across their bodies like streams of fire.
Then, they ran towards Aiden.
