Chapter 291: Chapter 291: The Tear of the Frost Goddess

Snow blanketed the frozen earth. Nunu’s small nose was red, and his eyes could barely stay open from the cold. He blew warm air into his palms, then reached out and placed both hands against Willump, planning to pass his warmth to him that way.

But Willump very obviously did not feel cold. Instead, he scratched his head with one huge claw and looked at Nunu strangely.

"Roar!"

"No, Willump!" Nunu immediately refused after hearing his call. Then he said, "We’re partners. It’s fine when you carry me normally, but how could I let you carry me while I sleep on you too?"

"Then you’d become a pet and a tool, wouldn’t you?" Nunu said in a tone that made it sound perfectly obvious. "Best friends are supposed to walk together, sleep together, and eat together!"

The strange look in Willump’s eyes vanished, and he burst into a hearty, rumbling laugh. The big guy grew even more cheerful. He looked at Nunu and nodded hard, as though proving that Nunu’s decision was absolutely right.

Nunu shivered, then followed Willump for another stretch. After that, he narrowed his eyes and looked at the scenery ahead. Then he suddenly shouted.

"Ah!"

"Willump, we found it! We finally found it!"

Nunu jumped in excitement and stretched out a hand, pointing toward the low valley ahead. On the tundra, seeing something did not mean it was close. On the contrary, it might still be very, very far away. Even so, Nunu could see a massive gray ice sculpture sitting in the ruins on the tundra below. It looked like an abandoned castle.

From its appearance alone, this castle fit Nunu’s imagined picture of the "hero fighting the dragon" and the castle where the dragon lived far too well. Because of that, to Nunu, that place was treasure. In an instant, all his fatigue disappeared.

"Come on, Willump, let’s hurry!"

"Once we find the jurlberry, we can go back! But I want to explore this place first. What about you?"

"Roar!"

"Looks like we made the same choice!"

Nunu climbed onto Willump’s head. The great yeti dropped to all fours, using both arms and legs as he charged toward the valley below at incredible speed.

Willump looked chubby and clumsy, but in truth, he was an extremely agile fellow. Thinking about it, that made sense too. To the people of the Freljord, their image of yetis was, to a large degree, enormous blue-faced apes with fangs.

Over an hour later, with Willump going all out, they arrived at the edge of the ruins.

Nunu stared at the great ruins with his mouth hanging open, then climbed up as excitedly as a little monkey.

"I can’t even understand these words!" Nunu loudly said, pointing at the writing left on the ruins. Then he knocked his own head and coughed before saying, "Wait, no, Willump. I barely know any words in the first place."

"Mom wanted to teach me how to read, but... but we got separated."

As he spoke, Nunu’s mood sank a lot, but he quickly cheered himself up again.

"Come on, Willump. It’s time for an adventure!"

"Roar!"

The big one and the little one began exploring the ancient ruins.

"That green guy said this was where Lissandra used to live, and Mom said Lissandra used to sit together with her sisters. So this is where the Three Sisters used to live?"

"But I can’t see anything here. How many years has it been since anyone came to this place?"

Nunu’s little head could not figure it out. He did not know that, if this place really was the old home of the Three Sisters, then outsiders should have been completely unable to enter.

After all, this was Lissandra’s backyard, where many hidden secrets and old stories had been buried. And those deeds were things Lissandra would never be willing to let anyone else see.

Yet Nunu could boldly explore here. As for the reason, naturally, it was because the owner of this "backyard" was currently watching him from the sky.

Only when Willump let out a roar, ran over to Nunu’s side, pointed at one place, and roared twice more did Nunu finally see what he had wanted to see.

An enormous statue!

It was different from the gray-black statue Nunu had seen earlier. At the time, he had thought that one might be Lissandra’s statue, but after arriving, Nunu discovered it was actually the statue of a man wearing a helmet, and it was not that tall either.

It had only looked so conspicuous because it stood among the ruins on the tundra.

But the one he saw now made Nunu’s mouth fall open.

"No wonder we couldn’t find it. So, so it was inside the iceberg!"

Before him stood an enormous ice statue nearly a hundred meters tall. The face was carved somewhat indistinctly, but the hands, clothing, and ice-crystal longbow were lifelike. Holding the ice bow, she gazed toward the ground, one hand gripping an ice arrow, ready to fire.

"Roar!" Willump called again. Nunu turned to look and saw another ice statue.

This statue stood opposite the first one, connected to another ice wall several hundred meters away. It was also nearly a hundred meters tall. She held a warhammer in her hand and wore a battle helm, her indistinct face lifted toward the sky, her open mouth as if roaring.

"That’s... Serylda! Willump, this one is Avarosa, and that one is Serylda! I can tell!" Nunu shouted.

"Then where’s Lissandra’s?"

The big one and the little one became confused.

But after searching for a long while, Nunu and Willump still failed to find Lissandra’s statue. With no other choice, Nunu gave up looking for Lissandra’s statue and instead began searching for traces of the jurlberry.

And when Nunu and Willump entered the ruins and headed farther inside, Nunu spotted the jurlberry he had been looking for at a glance.

It was growing on an abandoned, broken tower, very, very high up. It swayed in the snowstorm, flashing with a beautiful red glow.

Nunu immediately pointed at the jurlberry and shouted, "Willump, over there!"

Very high?

No problem!

He had Willump!

Willump grabbed Nunu in one hand, then bounded and leaped toward the abandoned tower.

A few minutes later, Nunu reached the jurlberry. Looking at that huge fruit, he realized something. From a distance, he had not noticed it, but after getting close, Nunu discovered it was even bigger than his own head!

It was almost as big as Willump’s huge claw!

Nunu grabbed the jurlberry with both hands and cried out, putting all his strength into it.

"I’ll pull it out! I will!"

"I’m going to become the hero who saves the world!" fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

His cheeks puffed out, his face flushed red, and his body leaned backward. Nunu used every bit of strength he had, but he still failed to pull the jurlberry free.

A fruit this enormous naturally had an extremely thick stem. Willump chuckled beside him. Only when he saw that Nunu was about to run out of strength did he reach out, intending to help Nunu.

But at that moment, Willump saw a faint glow flicker across Nunu’s body. That made Willump freeze, then instinctively take a step back.

Willump felt there was no need for him to help anymore.

Because Nunu had unknowingly used that power again.

The next moment, along with a loud shout from Nunu, the jurlberry was pulled out by the roots.

"Willump, I did it!"

"Roar!"

"Hurry, let’s go to the next place." Nunu hugged the jurlberry and realized it was too big, making it inconvenient for him to carry, so he handed it to Willump.

Willump held it in his huge hand, then tied the fruit’s tail together with the fur on his body. After that, he reached out and picked up Nunu again.

The big one and the little one ran toward the far north.

Three days later, Nunu saw the Ice Sea.

This was his first time seeing the sea, but it was not like the sea Nunu had imagined, and it was not like the sea his mother had described to him either.

"Why is it all ice?" Nunu said, pursing his lips as he looked at the Ice Sea.

Willump roared beside him.

"That’s true. It’s too cold here, so all the water froze into ice!"

"But Mom said only the surface freezes. Underneath, it’s still seawater, and there are fish living down there!"

As he spoke, Nunu rolled up his sleeves, ready to catch fish, but Willump stretched out his big arm and stopped him.

"What’s wrong, Willump?"

Nunu asked in confusion.

Willump pointed a claw toward a small island ahead and grinned.

Nunu immediately understood what Willump meant. He turned to look and saw a conspicuous island on the ice in the distance. There were even trees on the island. It did not look large, but Nunu vaguely felt that something was watching him.

In a hazy way, white smoke appeared on the island. At first glance, that smoke even looked a little like a fox.

That made Nunu curious.

He immediately decided to go over with Willump and take a look.

The green guy had said that once Nunu reached the Ice Sea, he would find the Frost Goddess’s material. That place over there was probably the place the green guy had mentioned, right?

Ten minutes later, Nunu and Willump arrived on the small island.

There were no living creatures on the island. It was bare, with only two or three trees. The island really was not big. If Nunu had to describe it, it was not an island at all, but more like... a giant rock standing on the ice?

After all, with Nunu’s legs, he could walk across the whole island in just a dozen steps!

Then Nunu and Willump saw a snow-white little fox appear.

The little fox had long fur and a plump, adorable look as it stepped onto a rock.

"What a pretty fox!" Nunu’s eyes lit up when he saw it.

But the next moment, Nunu was scared stiff.

"Kid, where are you from?" The fox... the fox spoke!

The fox raised her head and sat gracefully on the little rock, looking at Nunu. Then she said, "Answer me. Where did you come from?"

White followed the script.

As she spoke, White also felt speechless.

Imagine her, a mighty demigod, actually coming here to do something like this! This, this was basically tricking a child, wasn’t it?

What made White even more speechless was that when Lissandra came to find her, she had directly threatened her, telling her to build an island on the Ice Sea, then wait for a child to arrive and put on a little performance.

What was that supposed to mean?

Build an island on the Ice Sea?

She was a demigod, yes, and a very powerful one at that, but the Ice Sea was dangerous even for White, okay?

There were many demigods in this place. The Seal Sister was fine. If White built an island, the Seal Sister definitely would not come out and say anything to her. But what about the other demigods?

After thinking it over, White finally decided to be lazy.

That was why Nunu was able to see this sea island that looked like a huge rock!

"I, I came to find the Tear of the Frost Goddess."

"What? What even is that—" White was about to speak instinctively, but the voice in her mind cut her off.

"Are you stupid? The Tear of the Frost Goddess is the thing you’re supposed to give him. Just make up an excuse and hand it over." Lissandra’s voice sounded in White’s mind.

White froze, then grew a little angry.

What was this nonsense?

What Tear of the Frost Goddess did she have?

If one were talking about the Frost Goddess, there were only two beings in the Freljord who could receive that title. One was the former human leader, the eldest of the Three Sisters, Avarosa. The other was the demigod titan, Anivia, the Cryophoenix.

How could she, White, possibly deserve a title like that?

White’s little paw groped around behind her, and she picked up a small stone. Then she projected her magic onto the stone, changing its shape and color.

And when White stretched her soft pink paw pad toward Nunu, her little paw was already holding a small gem shaped like a teardrop.

"You mean this?"

"I... yes, that’s it." Nunu actually had no idea what that thing was, but looking at its shape, Nunu believed it had to be the Tear of the Frost Goddess the green guy had mentioned, so he nodded in response.

"You came looking for me, so I’m supposed to just give it to you?" White yawned.

"Then what do I need to do for you to give it to me? I really need this thing. Please! I need it to save my mom," Nunu immediately grew anxious and said loudly.

"Hmm... help me complete one task, and I’ll give this thing to you," White said, pretending to be serious. frёeωebɳovel.com

"Please tell me, pretty fox. I’ll definitely complete the quest you give me!"

"Haha, no need to be so nervous." White raised a paw and laughed.

This kid... his mouth was sweet!

White was starting to like this child a little.

And strangely, from the moment she saw this child, White had noticed a familiar scent on him. Thinking that, White looked at Willump beside him and recognized him as a yeti.

A yeti... a creature that once lived together with Anivia, and was deeply loved by Anivia. It would not be an exaggeration to call them her followers.

Because of that, a guess also emerged in White’s mind.

Logan, Lissandra, and that demigod named Nilah had no reason to be so bored that they would cooperate with a child’s hero-adventure make-believe game. So this child had a secret!

A yeti. A familiar scent.

Oh my god!

A strange glimmer flashed through the pupils of White’s seductive eyes.

She looked at Nunu and sniffed the familiar scent on him. That scent was coming from the little guy’s heart, his heart, his heart...

Damn it!

It was the Heart of the Blue!

This little guy had obtained the Heart of the Blue?!

White instantly lost focus.

"Hello? Can you tell me what you need me to do?"

"Of course!" White came back to herself and took a deep breath.

She understood what Lissandra and Logan meant now.

The battle against the Void... was finally about to begin, wasn’t it?

Looking at Nunu, White said seriously, "Walk this way, and you will see an enormous octopus. It is very powerful, and it is constantly destroying the Ice Sea. I need you to help me take one of its tentacles as a warning to it."

"I understand!" Nunu slapped his chest hard and promised with a big laugh, "I guarantee I’ll complete the quest!"
