Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Congratulations on defending the base.
The woman Charles had thrown out of the truck did not die.
Instead, her body began to mutate violently on the ground.
Bones cracked and twisted beneath her skin. Her ears stretched horrorly....each one growing so large it looked as though two human ears had fused together. Her teeth fell out one after another, only to be replaced by rows of razor-sharp fangs. Her fingers elongated, nails hardening into deadly claws.
Yet somehow... she still retained a human shape.
Barely.
The moment her newly formed gaze landed on Charles—who lay helpless on the ground—she lunged.
With a guttural snarl, she sank her jagged teeth straight into his cheek, tearing flesh apart in one brutal motion.
"AAAAARGH!!!"
Charles’ scream ripped through the air, raw and filled with unbearable agony.
Above it all, Ivy stood unmoving in her watchtower.
Her arms were folded across her chest, her expression calm—cold, even—as she watched everything unfold. She didn’t flinch. Didn’t react.
She simply watched as the thug suffered the consequences of his own actions.
Inside the truck, however, it was a different story.
The agent, along with the eight burly men and the remaining woman, stayed completely still, barely daring to breathe. Fear clung to them like a second skin.
"No one makes a sound," the agent whispered sharply, his voice low but firm. His eyes darted nervously. "Once those motherfuckers are gone, we move. Quietly."
Then his gaze shifted to the trembling woman among them.
"Or," he added coldly, "we use you."
The woman’s head snapped toward him.
"You’ll distract them. Get eaten while the rest of us escape." His tone was flat, merciless. "It’s not like you can run anyway... so you might as well die usefully."
"What?!" she gasped, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face. Her voice shook with fear and anger. "Then maybe we should all die together if that’s what you want!" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Her breathing became erratic as she glanced outside at the monsters feasting.
"I can scream right now," she threatened desperately. "I’ll run out there and drag them to all of you!"
The agent’s expression darkened instantly.
"You wouldn’t dare, bitch," he snapped, grabbing her arm tightly. "Or I’ll throw you out there myself."
His grip tightened.
"You better behave."
The threat was enough.
The woman fell silent, her body trembling as she realized he meant every word.
Outside, the mutated woman had finished feeding on Charles.
Slowly, she lifted her head—blood dripping from her mouth—and turned toward the truck.
She approached it with uneven, jerky steps and reached for the handle.
But her claws... they weren’t made for gripping.
She struggled, scratching uselessly against the metal.
Then—
SHATTER!
An arrow pierced straight through the windshield.
Glass exploded inward.
The sudden destruction froze everyone inside for half a second.
That half-second was all it took.
The mutated woman lunged through the broken opening, dragging the agent out with terrifying strength.
"NO—!"
His scream was cut short.
The baby monsters that had been feeding on Charles immediately abandoned his corpse and swarmed toward the fresh prey.
Within seconds, chaos erupted.
The agent and the others were dragged down, pinned helplessly to the ground as the creatures tore into them. Razor-sharp teeth sank into flesh. Blood splattered across the dirt.
Their screams filled the air—loud, desperate, and short-lived.
Crunching.
Tearing.
Munching.
The horror sounds echoed through the area.
And still—
Ivy did not move.
She stood in silence, watching it all with steady, unfeeling eyes.
As the agent was being devoured, his gaze locked onto her.
Tears streamed down his face—not just from pain, but from realization.
That woman...
She was no longer the helpless, naive person he had once sold his bunker to.
No.
She was something else entirely now.
The one people whispered about.
The one who fought monsters head-on. freewēbnoveℓ.com
The one who stacked vehicles like walls and blew creatures apart without hesitation.
He hadn’t believed it at first.
When others spoke of her, he thought it was exaggerated... or that they were talking about someone else entirely.
That was why he followed the tire tracks.
Why he traced them all the way back here.
He had expected to find power.
But not her.
Not Ivy—the pregnant woman he once underestimated.
Now, as his vision blurred and darkness crept in...
He finally understood.
She was the one.
His body went limp.
His consciousness faded.
And then—
Nothing.
Silence returned... briefly.
But not for long.
The remaining bodies began to twitch.
One by one, the fallen men and women started to mutate. The virus spread rapidly through their systems, twisting them into the same high-level monsters that had killed them.
They did not become the smaller creatures.
They evolved into something worse.
Something stronger.
When everything finally settled, Ivy let out a slow, controlled breath.
"The show’s over," she murmured under her breath.
Ding!
{Congratulations on defending the base, Host.}
Ivy exhaled, her shoulders relaxing slightly.
"Kindly disperse the remaining monsters," she said, her voice calm but tired. "They react to loud sounds, right? Use that. Lead them away."
Ding!
{Right away, Host.}
