Chapter 63: Chapter 63 There are no rules in the apocalypse

Ivy’s gaze moved slowly across them... and then paused.

A familiar face stood near the truck, leaning casually while smoking a cigarette.

It was the same agent who had rented her the bunker.

Her eyes sharpened slightly. freewebnøvel.coɱ

Now that she looked closer, she also recognized a few of the others. She had a very good memory for faces....once she saw someone, she rarely forgot them. Some of these men were the same ones she had noticed outside the bunker before loitering, smoking, gambling, or betting, all while she had ignored them completely since she had no business with them.

Her expression darkened slightly.

What the hell are they doing here? And how did they even think of coming to this place? Ivy questioned inwardly, a faint unease creeping in.

Ding!

At that moment, one of the men stepped forward.

He was bald, heavily built, and had a long, ugly scar slicing from the side of his nose down to his mouth. He looked like the leader. Even the agent who had rented the bunker to Ivy stood slightly behind him, as if taking orders.

"We’ll break in soon," the scarred man said coldly, glancing back at his group. "Get ready."

"Yes, Mr. Charles!" the others chorused in unison, their voices rough and confident. "We’re ready!"

Ivy’s eyes widened slightly.

What?! These fools want to break in?! Into my base?!

She couldn’t hold it back.

{What else? They believed the bunker is safe for them to stay and of course they’ve seen you outside training among those monsters.}

"Are you serious right now? How dare they?!" she shouted aloud before she could stop herself.

Her voice carried through the space and instantly drew her children attention.

Aria and Lila, who had been happily eating their ice cream just moments ago, stopped immediately. They turned toward her direction, worry flashing across their faces.

"What’s wrong, Mommy?" Aria asked first, her tone filled with concern.

"Are you okay, Mommy?" Lila added quickly, mirroring her sister’s anxiety.

Ivy quickly forced a calm expression, even though her mind was already calculating the situation.

"I’m fine, darlings," she said smoothly, offering them a reassuring smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. "Mommy just needs to go upstairs and sort out something real quick. I’ll be right back, okay?"

"Okay, Mommy," Aria and Lila replied in unison, though they still looked unsure.

Without wasting another second, Ivy set her ice cream aside and headed upstairs toward her weapon room.

Once inside, she positioned herself properly and looked through the upper vantage point of the bunker. From here, she had a clear view of the men outside.

They were still gathered, confident and careless, as if they already owned the place.

"You’re finally out," Mr. Charles said with a smug smirk, noticing her presence. He tilted his head slightly. "I thought we would have to break in after all."

His eyes narrowed.

"You’ll have to vacate this bunker. The money that was paid will be returned to you if you want it. Me and my boys want to take over this place now."

A cold silence followed his words.

Ivy’s lips curled faintly.

Without hesitation, she stepped forward and reached her cross bomb setup, her movements precise and controlled. She took position calmly, aiming directly at one of the trucks the men had arrived in.

Her finger hovered near the trigger. freёweɓnovel.com

Going back on an agreement, are we? Not happening.

Ivy’s thoughts sharpened, her expression turning cold as steel.

"I’ll count from one to ten. You all better leave this place... or you’ll regret it," Ivy finally said aloud, her voice steady, laced with seriousness and venom.

For a brief moment, there was silence.

Then the men burst into laughter.

The sound echoed loudly, mocking her without restraint.

"You... you’ll make us regret it?" Mr. Charles raised an eyebrow, still laughing as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world. "You’re hilarious. Listen, I’m saying this for your own good before we end up breaking in. Otherwise, I’ll be feeding you and those children of yours to the monsters myself."

The laughter around him grew louder.

Bang!

A sudden explosion ripped through the air.

One of the pickup trucks erupted into flames instantly, fire swallowing it whole. The blast sent shockwaves across the ground, forcing several of the men to stagger back in shock.

Only fate or luck saved them from being caught in the explosion, as they had not been standing close enough. Otherwise, they would have been blown apart alongside the vehicle.

For a moment, everything froze.

Smoke curled into the sky.

The mocking laughter vanished completely.

"How dare you?!" Mr. Charles barked, his voice now laced with genuine shock and rising terror.

Ivy didn’t flinch.

"The next one I release will be on you," she said coldly, her tone sharp and controlled. "Blowing your head off won’t be difficult. No one will hold anyone accountable for anyone’s death. We’re in the apocalypse... there are no rules."
