Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Mommy! What’s going on outside?
Excitement bubbled up inside her as she drove a few laps around the area, testing the controls, familiarizing herself with the vehicle’s responsiveness and power.
It was smooth, effortless and powerful.
After a while, Ivy brought the vehicle to a stop.
The moment she stepped out, the massive armored beast disappeared, returning to her system inventory.
With that, she turned and dashed back into the bunker.
“Mommy! What’s going on outside?” Aria asked immediately the moment she saw Ivy, her wide eyes filled with curiosity. "And there’s a stairs." She added as she points toward it’s direction.
“We heard something like a truck,” Lila uttered, her small face tilted upward. “But we didn’t go out! You told us not to, no matter what.”
Her voice carried a hint of pride.
Ivy’s heart softened instantly.
“Oh, my darlings...” she said warmly, kneeling down to their height, her hands gently cupping their cheeks. “Yes, you both heard a vehicle. And I’m so proud of you for listening to Mommy.”
“You didn’t step outside, even when you were curious. That’s exactly what you should do.”
The girls beamed.
“You both deserve a treat.”
“Yay!” Aria and Lila exclaimed in unison, their excitement instantly filling the room.
“And about the stairs...” Ivy continued, glancing toward the side. “Do you both want to come with me? Let’s go see what’s up there together.”
“Yes, Mommy!” they replied immediately, grabbing her hands.
Ivy let out a light chuckle as they eagerly pulled her along.
Together, they climbed the newly appeared stairs and stepped into the Precision Cross-Bomb Tower.
Eight long, narrow windows lined the walls, forming perfect sniper vantage points that covered every inch of the area within a one-thousand-meter radius of the bunker.
At the center stood a rotating cross-bomb turret.
Beside it, several bombs were neatly stacked.
“What is that, Mommy?” Lila asked, pointing at the turret, her voice filled with innocent curiosity.
“And where are we?” Aria added, glancing around.
Ivy paused.
For a moment, she hesitated.
Then she smiled gently.
“You know what, sweethearts?” she said softly, kneeling in front of them again. “I think there’s some chocolate in the fridge downstairs. Why don’t you both go have some?”
Their eyes lit up.
“Really?!”
“Yes,” Ivy nodded, patting their heads. “Mommy just needs to handle something important. I’ll join you soon, okay?”
The girls exchanged puzzled looks, small pouts forming on their lips but in the end, chocolate won.
“Okay, Mommy...”
They turned and ran off, their footsteps echoing as they hurried down the stairs.
Only after they were gone did Ivy walk over and lock the door behind them.
She let out a long breath.
A breath she hadn’t even realized she had been holding.
“What was I even thinking... bringing them up here?” she muttered, shaking her head lightly before letting out a quiet, self-aware chuckle.
Her gaze slowly shifted back to the turret.
This was no place for children.
Stepping closer, she began studying the rotating cross-bomb system carefully.
It didn’t take long for her to understand the controls.
“I don’t need widespread destruction...” she murmured thoughtfully. “Just precision.”
She adjusted the settings, focusing the targeting system on a single direction...one window out of the eight.
Attached to the turret was a long-range observation scope.
Ivy leaned forward and placed her eye against it.
The world zoomed in instantly.
Far.
Farther than she thought possible.
A cold expression appeared on her face as her gaze landed on a monster.
Its body was that of a spider....large and powerful, with razor-sharp limbs.
It’s head was human. Dark, and slimy. It’s mouth stretched wide, revealing jagged, razor Sharp teeth.
It pinned a struggling human to the ground with one of its limbs, preparing to devour him.
Ivy’s expression darkened instantly.
“Fuck you... you disgusting bastard...” she muttered under her breath, her voice laced with cold fury.
Her finger hovered over the trigger as the monster lifted it’s head.
Ivy didn’t hesitate as she pressed the button allowing the cross-bomb to launch silently.
No explosion or warning. Just a blur of motion and then...impact.
The monster’s head burst apart instantly, scattering into pieces along with parts of its body. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Ivy exhaled slowly, her tension easing.
“Got you...” she whispered, a small, satisfied smile forming on her lips.
Her eyes shifted to the human.
“Consider yourself lucky,” she added quietly as she watched him scramble away in terror, not even realizing what had just saved his life
