Chapter 135: Chapter 135 House upgrade complete.
"Mommy!"
Arya, Lila, and Pearl shouted at the same time as they rushed outside.
The three girls practically launched themselves into Ivy’s embrace.
Ivy laughed as she wrapped her arms around them.
"You didn’t tell us you were back!" Arya complained with a playful pout.
"I’m sorry, darling," Ivy replied with a soft chuckle. "I was busy helping Uncle Darren."
She gently ruffled Arya’s hair before doing the same to Lila and Pearl.
"So, what have my little girls been up to today?"
"We’ve already eaten," Lila answered proudly.
"And Hope is sleeping right now," Arya quickly added.
"I changed her diaper when she peed."
"Oh?" Ivy’s smile widened.
"Thank you, darling."
She planted a gentle kiss on Arya’s forehead.
Then another on Lila’s.
And another on Pearl’s.
The girls immediately giggled.
"Anyways, food will be ready soon," Ivy continued. "Uncle Darren is cooking."
The three girls immediately turned toward Darren.
"Good evening, Uncle Darren!" they chorused in unison.
Darren glanced over from where he was seasoning the fish and chicken.
A warm smile appeared on his face.
"Good evening, girls. How are you all doing?"
"We’re fine!" they replied together.
"I hope you enjoyed your day."
"Yes!!!"
The three girls answered so loudly that Ivy couldn’t help laughing.
However, before the conversation could continue further, Pearl suddenly narrowed her eyes.
"What about the ice cream?"
The question hit Ivy like a truck.
Her smile instantly stiffened.
This was the exact topic she had been trying to avoid.
And unfortunately...
Pearl hadn’t forgotten.
"Oh..." Ivy said awkwardly.
"The ice cream."
Pearl folded her arms.
Lila and Arya immediately stared at Ivy as well.
Three pairs of expectant eyes locked onto her.
Ivy swallowed hard.
"I’ll make it," she said quickly. "But first, you’ll all have to eat dinner."
The girls continued staring.
"And you’ll get it after eating."
"Yahhh!" the girls cried out dramatically.
Moments later, the three children rushed back inside the base.
*****
Not long afterward, dinner was finally ready.
Under the beautiful night sky, Ivy, Darren, Arya, Lila, and Pearl sat together outside the base enjoying the meal.
The roasted fish tasted delicious.
The chicken was perfectly seasoned.
And the sweet potatoes disappeared almost as quickly as Darren could serve them.
As expected, the girls refused to let Ivy forget her promise.
After enduring countless reminders, Ivy eventually surrendered.
She spent the next several minutes preparing fresh strawberry ice cream for the children.
The moment they received their portions, their earlier disappointment completely vanished.
*****
Later that night, Darren helped escort Pearl back to her parents.
Not long afterward, Arya and Lila headed inside the base to prepare for bed.
The compound gradually became quiet.
Now only Ivy and Darren remained outside beneath the cool night sky.
Each of them held a bowl of homemade strawberry ice cream.
The sweet dessert contrasted perfectly with the refreshing night air.
As they enjoyed their ice cream, Ivy decided to open the supply boxes she had collected earlier.
One after another, various items appeared.
Imported chocolates.
Smoked ham.
Several sets of branded clothing.
And finally...
An unsharpened Tang saber.
Without hesitation, Ivy handed the saber over to Darren.
Darren accepted it immediately.
He examined the blade carefully before nodding.
"You can sharpen it, right?" Ivy asked, raising an eyebrow. "This is the only item from the supply boxes that I didn’t let the system store."
"Of course," Darren replied confidently.
"I can have it razor-sharp by tomorrow."
"Good."
As Darren continued inspecting the saber, Ivy’s gaze drifted elsewhere.
Specifically...
Toward Darren’s living quarters.
The small house stood quietly near the corner of the compound.
It had been built entirely from wood.
Darren had spent many nights constructing it himself.
Originally, Ivy had wanted him to build it outside the compound walls.
However, things had changed.
His teammates were gone.
Now he was the only one left.
Because of that, she had allowed him to build the house within the safety of her compound.
Still...
Compared to everything else around it, the structure looked rather ordinary.
It needs an upgrade, Ivy thought.
Can you improve it, System?
Ding!
{Certainly, Host.}
Make it perfect, comfortable and secure for him.
And include whatever necessities he’ll need. I believe I have all the tools needed.
Ding!
{Right away, Host.}
The moment the system responded....
The wooden house began to change.
At first, Darren didn’t notice.
Then the ground trembled slightly.
His eyes widened.
The small wooden house suddenly glowed.
"What the...."
Before he could finish speaking, the transformation began.
Wooden walls expanded outward.
Bricks rose from the ground and assembled themselves.
Fresh concrete formed beneath the structure.
Windows appeared where there had previously been none.
The roof completely rebuilt itself into a far stronger design.
A larger front porch emerged.
Decorative lights appeared beneath the roof edges.
The entire building grew larger, slightly connected to Ivy base.
The transformation happened so suddenly that Darren nearly dropped the saber in his hand.
One second, the small wooden house stood exactly as it always had.
The next second, it looked like a completely different building.
Darren froze while the saber slipped from his fingers and landed on the grass with a dull thud.
"..."
"..."
For several seconds, neither of them spoke.
Darren simply stared. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
His brain struggled to process what he was seeing.
"Did..." Darren asked but ended up swallowing hard. "Did your system just upgrade my house?"
Ivy scratched her cheek awkwardly.
Ding!
