Chapter 130: Chapter 130 Is my gun broken?
Without waiting for Darren, Ivy made her way toward the gas station and began clearing the low-level monsters that roamed the area. One after another, they fell beneath her relentless assault.
Since they were all Level Two monsters and not baby monsters, each one still possessed a core. By the time she finished dealing with the latest group, she had already collected over a dozen cores.
She kept blasting their heads apart with her guns, blood and brain matter splattering across the cracked pavement. The thunderous gunshots echoed through the area as corpse after corpse dropped to the ground.
Just then, Darren arrived in the armored vehicle.
Now that the roads had been completely cleared of monsters and Ivy had already extracted all the abandoned trucks, he was able to drive directly to the gas station without any issues.
"Nice one!" Darren exclaimed as he jumped out of the armored vehicle.
His eyes widened slightly when he saw the number of monsters Ivy had already defeated by herself.
"Watch out!" he suddenly shouted.
A monster had silently crept up behind Ivy and was preparing to pounce.
Bang!
Before it could even get close, Ivy spun around and shot its head clean off.
The monster’s body collapsed to the ground with a dull thud.
Darren released a breath.
"That thing almost got you." freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Ivy shrugged casually.
"It wasn’t even close."
Without wasting any more time, Darren joined the battle and began killing monsters without mercy.
The two stood back-to-back as they fired relentlessly in every direction. Gunfire filled the air while monster corpses piled up around them.
The smell of decay was stronger than ever, thick enough to make an ordinary person sick. Yet neither of them seemed affected by it anymore. After spending so much time in the apocalypse, they had long grown accustomed to such things.
Several minutes later, the final monster dropped to the ground.
Silence returned.
Or at least, that was what they thought.
Suddenly....
Rumble!
The ground beneath their feet began trembling violently.
The unexpected vibration nearly caused both of them to lose their balance.
"What the actual fuck?" Darren cursed under his breath as he steadied himself.
The trembling grew stronger.
Rumble!
Rumble!
Small stones bounced across the ground while cracks began spreading through the concrete.
Ivy’s expression immediately turned serious.
Without hesitation, she activated her Territory Map.
The holographic screen appeared before her eyes.
At the same moment, a bright red warning light began blinking frantically.
Danger.
Extreme danger.
A high-level monster was nearby.
Before she could even warn Darren....
BOOM!
The ground behind the gas station suddenly exploded apart.
A massive figure burst out from beneath one of the fuel tanks, sending debris flying in every direction.
Chunks of concrete, dirt, and twisted metal shot through the air like deadly projectiles.
Ivy and Darren instinctively raised their arms to shield their faces as dust and debris rained down around them.
The monster’s deafening roar shook the entire area.
ROOOOAAARRRR!!!
The sound was so loud that both Ivy and Darren felt their ears ringing painfully.
When the dust finally began to settle, they lowered their arms and got their first clear look at the creature.
Both of them froze. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
The monster was enormous.
It weighed at least four hundred pounds and towered over ordinary monsters.
Its flesh was covered in swollen blisters, many of which had burst open and leaked foul-smelling fluids down its body.
Large patches of skin hung loosely from its frame.
Maggots crawled everywhere.
They wriggled through open wounds, eye sockets, and exposed flesh, making the creature look like a walking corpse dragged straight from hell itself.
The stench that accompanied it was horrifying.
It was several times worse than any monster they had encountered before.
Darren immediately felt his stomach churn violently.
A wave of nausea washed over him.
For a moment, he thought he was actually going to vomit, faint.
But he forced himself to hold it back.
Without wasting another second, he raised his rifle and fired.
Bang!
The bullet shot directly toward the monster’s head.
Normally, the head of a Level Two monster would have exploded instantly.
This time...
Nothing happened.
The monster remained standing exactly where it was.
Not even a scratch appeared on its skull.
A chill instantly ran down Darren’s spine.
"W-What?"
His eyes widened in disbelief.
"Is my gun broken?"
Unable to accept what he had just witnessed, Darren fired again.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Several bullets struck the monster’s head.
Yet the result remained exactly the same.
Nothing.
The creature simply stood there.
Its glowing red eyes slowly locked onto Darren.
The crimson light within them intensified.
The low growl escaping its throat became deeper and more menacing.
Grrrrrrr...
A dangerous sense of dread washed over both Darren and Ivy.
Then the monster opened its mouth.
ROOOOAAARRRR!!!
A terrifying shockwave exploded outward.
The sheer force behind the roar blasted through the area like a hurricane.
"Darren!"
"Ivy!"
Neither of them could react in time.
The shockwave slammed into their bodies and sent them flying through the air.
