Chapter 84: Sharp Senses

Imperial Summon wasn’t as easy as just inviting a player to introduce themselves to the Imperial Family.

Imperial Summon also meant celebrations. A hero has appeared and fought against demon forces to protect the humanity.

The Imperial Family highly treated those citizens, noble or not, who fought against the demon forces.

They wouldn’t celebrate for a simple occasion such as birthday, it would always be about fighting, killing, and driving away the demons from the human territory.

Most of the taxes were allocated for those heroes, investing a lot of them after the Imperial Summon.

It was precisely why Max was elated to hear about the Imperial Summon.

I wouldn’t be rewarded with land, territory, vast wealth, but one that I needed.

Resources! His eyes sparkled.

However, Max soon came to realize he was already rewarded by the Radiant Conclave what needed.

Class down to the equipments... he basically had everything.

Max sighed.

Suddenly, he recalled his horses and his eyes flashed.

I can’t turn them into summons, but if the Imperial Family has the ability to turn them into my contract beast, then that will be a huge help for me!

Max didn’t leave out the chances of exploiting the Imperial Family as best as he could. Even when he was already equipped, only needing to progress with his sheer talent, Max would always preferred what benefit him without tiring himself out.

He wanted the two horses, not just one. He did not know the ritual process of turning them into contract beast.

Interestingly, only S-rank humans had a successful single beast pet.

When Max was finished reading the letter, he flicked it upward, flying on the air.

He summoned one Radiant Lance to disintegrate it into pieces without further damage in his room.

He turned towards the stunned soldier and said, "Thank you. You can now be dismissed."

The soldier took sometime to process what had just happened before hastily leaving the room.

When he closed the door, he smacked his face, realizing he had forgotten to bid farewell. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Max, on the other hand, was now contemplating of whether he must stay or continue proceeding to the capital.

He wanted to increase his legacy active skills’ proficiency in the room rather than in the wild, afraid of others discovering his powers.

At the same time, he couldn’t wait delivering the letter and receiving the Imperial Summon.

Max pondered for a while and decided to refresh his mind in the Town first.

He had not visited the Market District.

If it was not because of Archmage Arlen’s storage ring, containing potions and resources for mages, he might have already thought of buying in the Market District already.

For the rest of the day, Max enjoyed his time touring the Willowmere Town.

Unfortunately, nothing caught in his eye in the Market District.

He was given the privilege to visit other places, so he wasn’t bored.

When night arrived, he visited Relay Master Cedric whose dark circles around his eyes expanded.

As soon as he met Max’s gaze, he panicked, dropping the books and hastily about to bow towards him.

Max said, "Save your greetings. How is your progress?"

Relay Master Cedric was taken aback. He pondered for a while and replied, "The more I learn, the more I understand that I know nothing. The books from Archmage Arlen contained knowledge so vast that I only comprehended a drop of water from an ocean reserves.

Truly, splendid!"

Max smiled. "I’m glad that you liked it."

He was about to have a continuous joyful conversation with Cedric, wanting to learn about the rune language as well, when his eyes flashed with immense killing intent.

Max growled. A demon... His voice was inaudible, perplexing Cedric.

Max turned around and left without saying a word.

Cedric was stunned but he was immediately distracted by the piles of books he yet to comprehend...

...

Pascal was an adventurer, born from Fenwatch Crossing, a town Max had first encountered.

Before he became an adventurer, his legs were disabled.

In three decades of his life, he relied solely on his parents while his siblings had forsaken him.

But when his parents died, he didn’t have a source of income.

HIs parents’ wealth were divided into his siblings and he was excluded.

After all, he was an orphan—found outside the door of his adopted parents.

Pascal wasn’t smart. He was average.

After heavily relying on his adopted parents, when they died, his life sharply turned around, leaving him shocked and helpless.

He didn’t have a value to begin with.

The town he was born functioned as caravan rest stop, ranger station, supply depot, and training facilities.

He possessed no value, inevitably throwing him into the slum.

He was hungry, extremely hungry... The thirst also began to devour his lifespan rapidly.

He decided to beg, but the adventurers wouldn’t even glance an eye on him, much less as throwing coins.

Pascal was pitiful. He saw it to himself.

But he couldn’t believe that even humans, like him, who possessed empathy, failed to see what he saw.

He was angry.

Frustrated.

He punched his disabled legs repeatedly until they bleed out.

He continued destroying his physical body when an unknown voice echoed in his head, offering him a contract.

He could turn his life around—restore the vigor on his body and most of all... repair his broken legs.

Pascal didn’t hesitate to agree, even when the consequences were heavy.

He wanted to live independently and freely even for a fleeting moment.

Now, under the order of the voice in his head, he visited the Willowmere Town to gather information about a certain individual.

At the same time, his thirst for growing stronger was evident in his visit.

He wanted know why those capable to help others wouldn’t bat an eye on those pitiful worthless people. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Simply because they didn’t have a value?

He refused to believe such notion.

There might be a deeper reason behind.

As he stepped inside the gate of the Willowmere Town, he wasn’t given enough time to wander his gaze around when a series of lightweave threads bind his vision and limbs...
