Chapter 89: [Bonus Chapter] Complicated dinners (2)

Aurora nervously played with her fingers while she sat at the head of the table waiting for Vincent to come down for dinner. Was it wrong for her to sit here in this spot? When they had breakfast in the morning, Vincent was seated here. This was his house and it only made sense he should sit here. He wouldn’t know she was here if she moved quickly.

’Now or never,’ she thought, on the verge of getting up.

"Aurora," her name coming from Vincent’s mouth, made her jump and she looked up to see he was standing in her line of sight at the dining room entrance. Her eyes first went to his exposed chest and thinking it would be indecent of her to look at it, she looked the other way.

’Please don’t be obvious I looked,’ she wished but knew her cheeks turning red from embarrassment must have given it away. It would be nice if a hole could appear beneath her and help her escape this embarrassment.

"It’s a little hot these days so I hope you don’t mind my attire. Your face seems to be burning up. Are you hot too? You can lose a few pieces of clothing to help cool you down. Being the gentleman that I am, I won’t mind it," he teased, enjoying the glare replacing her past embarrassment. What was there to be embarrassed about when you find someone attractive?

"Of course, you would enjoy seeing me strip. I wouldn’t call you a gentleman with that type of behavior," Aurora looked away again after her confidence to correct he was not a gentleman was gone.

"Allow me to give you a life lesson sweetheart. The worst kind of men in this world are the ones who hide what they are truly thinking about you. A lot of the men you think are gentlemen behave differently behind closed doors. Lucky for you, I am like this all of the time and you don’t have to guess the type of person I am." Vincent sat in the chair to the right of Aurora making her look to the left of the table.

"Still, you are not a gentleman. You would be talked about for days if we were back where I grew up."

Vincent shrugged, disagreeing with that. "I have visited those towns many times and seen men who don’t hide their lust. No one told them about their behavior. Why? Because they have a good amount of wealth and no one wants to offend them so they turn a blind eye. I’m sure you can think of more than five of these men. Isn’t it funny how we ignore things when money is involved?"

"Are you trying to say this is why people excuse your behavior?" Aurora replied, scooting her chair away from him. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Of course not. I am only like this with you and why is it so bad for me to state these things you call improper? The days are hot so I told you less clothing would be a good option. Never asked you to become fully naked and it’s not like I had any plans to take you to my bed. Blushing again. By your logic of me not being a gentleman, you are not a lady."

Aurora finally made eye contact with him once again. What did he mean she was not a lady? "I don’t think like you. When did I ever ask you to strip?" fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

"You don’t have to tell me anything Aurora. You can’t hide that look in your eyes. Let’s say a proper lady shouldn’t be flustered by seeing a man’s chest because it shouldn’t affect her. She has no thoughts of wanting to see more or perhaps wonder what it would be like to run her hands against his skin. In fact, the sight of his body should disgust her because he is not being proper. By your logic, that is what I assume a lady should be like but when you laid eyes on me, you didn’t act like a lady."

Vincent shook his head disagreeing with what she had been taught. "I never understood why they didn’t want girls to talk or think about their sexual desires but then throw them into a room with their husband and act confused when the girl doesn’t understand what happens at night. Why not explain to the young women the feelings they are experiencing instead of hiding what they need to know till their wedding night? You’ll end up blushing at me showing my bare hand at this rate."

"If you walk around with your chest exposed, it’ll cause any woman to blush and look away. That doesn’t compare to you telling me I can remove pieces of clothing. Why on earth are we having this conversation?" Aurora placed her hand on her forehead and took a deep breath. They were supposed to be talking about what happened in her room, not this.

"Jane has seen me like this and never once reacted as you did. Tell me, what type of thoughts ran through your mind when you saw me? What caused those cheeks of yours to change color? I am good at keeping secrets Aurora," Vincent leaned forward to tease her more. "It’s not a crime for you to see a man and admit you like what you see. Shall I completely take off my shirt to get your thoughts going again?"

"No!" Aurora yelled, holding his hands to stop him from being even more ridiculous. "I didn’t think anything that you might have in mind. You’re a gentleman. Can we please change this topic now? And I’m sorry for being in your seat." Mari placed her here but Aurora should’ve been quicker to get out of the seat.

"Stay. A chair is a chair, right? Have you gotten over what happened in your room earlier with our little fun just now?"

’He thought that cheered me up? More like it cheered him up,’ Aurora said to herself. He wasn’t in a bad mood so perhaps she had overthought his feelings. "Vincent, you don’t scare me. Get on my nerves with all of your teasings but you don’t scare me. And if one day you do, I’ll speak up so that you can stop. Deal?"

"Deal."
