Chapter 78: Witches (1)

"Why is it that women can talk to each other about these things and have no issue at all but us men act all strange?" Asked Derek. He wouldn’t be disgusted if Vincent came to him to talk about this kind of thing. Truthfully, he would be concerned since it was out of character for his friend.

"Because you take it to a whole other level. I don’t want to hear anything after the virginity story. I will make Jane a widow if you don’t stop telling me this shit. I’ve been too lenient with you haven’t I?" The only reason Derek had time to come talk about these kinds of things was because of his lack of jobs.

"No. I still have a good number of jobs to complete so don’t even think about assigning me more. I’m watching your uncle, bringing reports back from the gates, and now I’m getting information about the Hamiltons for you. And no, they have not started searching anywhere near our community as yet. They have not even put up missing notices for her. They’re trying to avoid having anything negative attached to their name."

"It would be fun to mess with them. Do you remember the paperman who hates them? Get ready to send him news about the Hamiltons." The best way to get back at the old woman was to start destroying the things she loved. Aurora’s sister said she wanted to run the family business but with what he planned to do, she’ll have to work on fixing the image afterward.

Derek groaned knowing he had to travel to the human town soon. He would hire someone to do it but none of them were good at navigating through the town without being noticed as he did. Why on earth didn’t he think twice before updating Vincent about that family? Now he had to leave home again. ’I’m going to quit. I don’t care if Jane gets upset.’ he wept on the inside.

Vincent covered his nose, smelling something disgusting suddenly filling up the room. "I’m going to write down everything I want him to put in the news and no one who is supposed to read what I give you. I want the news posted around early in the morning."

While watching Aurora from afar and gaining information about the Hamiltons, Vincent came across a man who hated the family. His father worked for the Hamiltons and died unexpectedly. The man wasn’t given his father’s body to bury and thought the Hamiltons were the ones who killed him. Since then, he has been posting news against the family.

"Good afternoon. Why does it look like you’re already slacking off?" Jane asked her husband as she entered the office. She had received word Vincent wanted her to guard the woman he had as a guest.

"Honey! I didn’t sense you here. Why do you smell so bad, not that I mind," Derek stood up and smiled when she glared at him. "I thought the smell was Vincent farting but didn’t want to bring it up. I thought he was finally getting comfortable around me. Without getting offended please tell me the answer."

"It’s a perfume that is supposed to hide the scent of a wolf. They have to figure out now how to hide the other terrible smell. You didn’t know it was me so it’s partially working," Jane remained still like a statue unphased by the smell. If it could help her sneak up on vampires, she didn’t mind being a test subject. "From the look on your face Vincent I can tell you knew it was me."

"It’s a terrible scent to cover your smell for most wolves but I can still identify it was you coming and that you just met my brother. It’s only effective if it works for my nose. I take it you received the news about guarding Aurora-"

"Why are you still using my wife after I already told you she works too much? You’re trying to ruin my marriage, aren’t you? I always knew you were jealous of us," Derek grabbed hold of Jane and pulled her away from close to Vincent. However, Jane twisted his arm and pushed him away.

"What conversation is this about me working too much?" Jane asked Vincent since she knew her husband would just lie.

Derek stood behind Jane waving to Vincent on the couch not to say anything about what they talked about. That conversation was just between two good friends. Vincent could not betray him so easily but the smirk on the man’s face told Derek he was royally screwed.

"Apparently I overwork you." Derek should be happy he didn’t mention anything about the sex life or killing the mother-in-law. This was payback for Derek annoying him so early in the day.

Jane sent a death glare to her husband. "Should I schedule time with Vincent to talk about how you don’t work at all? I work a healthy schedule but it doesn’t feel that way for you because you’re always free. Of course, it’s going to seem like I work too much when you always have free time. Vincent, give him more work." freewēbnoveℓ.com

"If I really put my mind to it, I can perform better than you honey. I just choose not to. I already have enough money saved up so I don’t understand why I keep working for this guy," he pointed to Vincent. "I should open up a business and just lay back at home."

"We live for a long time and doing nothing will get boring. That’s why I engulf myself in work. How you aren’t bored of doing nothing amazes me." Jane liked how time went by quickly when she was doing something productive. Work was also a good excuse for running away from her mother.

"Forget it. I’m not going to the town for you Vincent. Find someone else and do it yourself. I’m going to stay home and sleep. Soon from now, I’ll never have to work another day in my life. Working is overrated," Derek stated sitting back down on the couch and placed one leg on Vincent but it was immediately shoved off. "Rude."

"My mother will be visiting us for dinner-"

Derek quickly stood up and said, "I’m ready to go to the town, Vincent."
