Chapter 62: Friend or foe (3)

’He can hear everything, talk in my mind, transform into something beyond my imagination, and can kill a vampire. This man is dangerous,’ Aurora thought to herself looking away from Vincent. She won’t look at him for too long for him to have any more assumptions and she didn’t want him to see that she was embarrassed for being caught. "I am sorry if asking Mari questions offended you."

"It didn’t. Who wouldn’t want to know the details about their new home? Just keep in mind that I am always here to answer any questions you have. Are you ready to eat?"

"Yes. Mari told me there was a party last night because the moon is special to all of you. I would also like to go to the festival tonight. I was really looking forward to the one in the town yesterday but it was bittersweet." She spent all year long waiting to enjoy the festival with her siblings and the moment was not what she wanted. However, the festival here could be a redo and she’ll buy things for the day she reunites with Regina.

"You’re doing it again when you ask me for permission. Unless you want to step outside the gates you can do whatever you want. No one goes outside the gates without my approval unless you want to be greeted by death. I just brought you back and I would hate to see you die so soon. Promise me that you will stay away from there," Vincent said as he waited for her to make the promise.

Without hesitation, Aurora leaned forward as much as she could, holding out her pinky to make the promise with Vincent. It was the only rule he had given her so far and she was never going to break it. "I promise to never go out the gates."

"Good. Mari, tell the cook to bring out the food," Vincent said after making the pinky promise with Aurora.

"Yes sir," Mari bowed, then left the two alone to tell the cook it was time to serve the food.

"You are beautiful this morning. I’m afraid you’ll cause many men to take interest in you when I take you on the tour. Were you close to anyone back there? A lover to be clear." frёewebηovel.cѳm

"No, I never met with any men to have a lover. You should know young daughters only meet with men their family approve of and they had no intentions of marrying me off to anyone. I never knew whether to be sad or happy. I was happy to hear marriage would be my way out to see something other than that house but then I became sad remembering the stories of how husbands sometimes treated their wives. To marry for love was I wanted but it was only a dream." Aurora had long given up on the thought of having a lover or being married when Regina was the only one being prepared.

"I’m glad you didn’t find a lover. I would hate to have to kill anyone. Sometimes I can be a jealous man so it makes me happy to know I am the only man trying to win your heart," said Vincent.

"Is that why your brother is not here? What was my relationship with him?" Aurora asked even though she knew it was an indecent question. "Was he a friend or foe?"

"I would never be jealous of my younger brother-"

"Breakfast is served," the head cook Abel said, interrupting the conversation. He was a big man with a large stomach dressed in white. "I heard we have a guest so I prepared many dishes to welcome them to your home."

Aurora looked to her left and right at the countless pieces of food being placed on the table. It was only her and Vincent eating breakfast at the table, why make so much food to waste it? "The two of us can’t eat all of this alone. Are you having guests?"

"I made all of these popular foods to welcome you here. They are all for you. It would be respectful if you take a bite out of all of them. You’re so small and wolf women have more meat on them. No man here will never want you if you look that way." Abel didn’t see why Vincent was entertaining this woman. Wolves should be with only wolves.

"I am not a wolf therefore I don’t plan on pretending to act like one. Excuse me," Aurora abruptly stood up causing her chair to screech against the floor. "I don’t feel like anymore."

It wasn’t hard for her to see that the cook disliked her and though she was hungry, she wasn’t going to sit there and eat in front of him. She started going back to her room much to the disbelief of the cook while Vincent found it to be funny. free𝑤ebnovel.com

"Abel," Vincent said without looking at the cook. "I have told all of you she is a guest none of you should even think of offending but here you are telling her no man would ever want her. Do you not like living? Have I not been generous with the way I treated you?"

"You have been Vincent," Abel replied, bowing his head to avoid looking at Vincent. When he learned that the woman was not one of them, he made the mistake of thinking she was a captive for Vincent to use in bed and was later going to be killed. They normally didn’t treat outsiders this well.

"So why are you spouting nonsense to her? Lucky for you, I don’t want Aurora to see another side of me to scare her. Go back to the kitchen right away before I change my mind and gut you," Vincent warned the man. Now, Abel would think twice about how he spoke to Aurora.

"I will bring her back," Mari started to say but Vincent waved her off.

"I will do it myself," he said, taking a plate and placing enough food for her to eat. She was hungry but stood up against Abel. She’s going to fit in great around here.
