Chapter 308: Preparations (2)
After two hours of inspecting the land to make sure everything was in order for the night, Vincent returned home, and as he expected Aurora was fast asleep in their bed. He didn’t mind as after some thinking he wanted her to rest as they had a big day ahead of him. He wanted to waste no time getting married to her and starting their little family.
Vincent stripped out of his clothes the moment he entered their bedroom to prepare for a warm bath before joining Aurora in bed. Like he used to do in the past, Vincent went to his bedroom window and looked out at the street. Unlike the other times, there was no one there spying on him now that his uncle was dead.
"Am I dreaming?" He heard Aurora’s tired voice behind him.
"Why do you say that?" Vincent questioned. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"You are standing stark naked by the window. Why?" Aurora sat up from the bed. freewёbnoνel.com
"I am going to take a bath but I was checking to see if there was anyone walking by my home. You can go back to bed. The sun has not risen to the sky yet," Vincent said, wanting her to get a lot more sleep.
"I will wait for you to come to bed. Can you please move away from the window? I know no one can see your lower half but I’d feel much better if you weren’t standing there. Do not come to the bed," Aurora scooted away from the left side of the bed when Vincent started to walk towards it. How could he be so confident to walk around the room just as he had been born?
"Do not touch the bed, Vincent. You need to clean up first," she added.
"You must want me to be near you, Aurora. I wasn’t trying to get into the bed with you," Vincent replied as he stopped before he reached the bed. "You forgot to pick up the towel you used," he picked it up and showed her.
"Oh," Aurora replied.
Vincent chuckled, amused by her reaction. He placed the towel over his shoulder and walked to the bathroom to prepare his bath. "You will need a lot of rest for tomorrow. We will continue with the preparations for our wedding. I intend to marry you in two days."
"What?" Aurora exclaimed, surprised by this news. If Regina had not pushed for them to return home, was she going to miss her wedding? How much had Vincent planned without informing her? He was like the young girls back in town who would take control of the wedding and leave out their husbands. "How much of our wedding have you planned?"
"Eighty percent of it. Cherry needs you to try on your dress and you must pick the people you want by your side," Vincent replied in her head. He could hear her from the bathroom.
"I feel like the man in this situation. Not that I mind exactly as I have never thought much about a wedding to know what I would want. When I lived with Artemis, marriage was never on my mind and when I lived with the Hamiltons, I figured a child from an affair should not dream about marriage. You can continue to plan all of it. I am excited to see what you planned," said Aurora.
"There are still a couple of things I will need your opinion on like flowers and food. Even if you have not thought much about a wedding, there must have been something you always wanted."
"The only thing I wanted was to wear a pretty dress and get to see my husband’s reaction to it. I will visit Cherry first thing in the morning," Aurora yawned. She laid back down on the bed, no longer able to wait up for Vincent. She was created by the Goddess of the night so the night was normally her playground but after life constantly threw something her way, she was tired and only wanted to rest.
Inside the bathroom, Vincent spread his arms out along the rim of the tub, smiling because of the light snores from the bed he could hear. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes, waiting for the sun to rise so he could finish up the plans for his wedding. If only his mother could be here to see that he had changed his mind and found someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
"I hope you are watching," Vincent muttered.
He believed that his mother’s spirit specifically would continue to linger in this world to watch over her sons just as she said she would long before she died. Vincent wanted her to stick around to see his and Victor’s wedding. Then the birth of her first grandchildren but then he wanted her soul to move on so that she could meet his father in another life.
There was a tale that a werewolf’s soul never truly leaves the world and would instead go into the body of another wolf the moment they are born for mates to meet each other again. Though he dearly missed his parents, Vincent believed the tale told to him by his mother and was happy to think they would soon be reunited.
Life worked in strange ways. For someone who could live many years thanks to the moon Goddess making that possible, he could meet his parents in their new life without even knowing it. Perhaps he would be one of the lucky ones to sense that it was them. They might no longer be his parents but he would enjoy having them nearby as it would be their souls.
Vincent continued to think about his past and his future with Aurora. He could hardly wait for this new life as her husband and one day a father. He planned many things for their wedding but knew there were two things missing to make Aurora happy. He intended to find a way for them to be here so that she would look back on their wedding day and not feel sad.
