Chapter 305: Home (2)
By the time Aurora and Vincent got out of town, Vincent was tasked to control the horse and make sure Aurora would not fall after she had fallen asleep. He started to question why they had not taken his carriage to avoid this very scenario. It could have been parked outside of town to avoid attention. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"For someone created by the Goddess of the night, why are you rarely active at night?" He questioned the sleeping woman.
Aurora had regained her memories but she remained like the girl who thought she was a regular human. Not that he minded it. Vincent was only concerned about the abilities given to her by Artemis becoming weaker. He didn’t think it had something to do with the spells but due to the fact Artemis was slowly drifting away from this world and now she was completely gone and no one knew where.
Vincent worried that Artemis’s absence would bring trouble for both werewolves and Aurora. It hadn’t been long since Artemis left so they wouldn’t feel the effects of her absence yet. Aurora wanted a peaceful life but there would always be something to keep them on their toes.
"We aren’t back yet?" Aurora asked. She rubbed away the sleep from her eyes to get a better look around at where they were now. All she saw were identical trees and no tall gates. "We might not make it back in time before the gates close. We will have to sleep outside."
"We are not that far away and should be back right before the gates close. I have timed our trip back to be inside the gates tonight."
"I would really love a warm bath right now. I have missed everyone and I want to see if Jane was successful with her wish," said Aurora.
"We have not been away that long for her to already know that she is pregnant or to be showing. You must be patient. Perhaps if we work on our own child as soon as we return, we can have an idea of how far along Jane should be," Vincent suggested.
Aurora rolled her eyes and said, "Even if we were to try for a baby tonight, that does not mean I would magically become pregnant."
"If we put our all into it, it is possible it can happen by the end of the night and if it doesn’t, we simply keep on trying until we succeed. Wouldn’t you like to have a child with me? I have only thought of you bearing my children," said Vincent.
Aurora looked over her shoulder to ask, "What would you have done if I said I did not want to have children?"
"There is nothing I can do but respect your decision. Is that what you feel? That you do not want children?"
"It is not that I do not want children. I am not certain if I can have any. If I can, there’s the fear of being a good mother. Artemis was kind to us but I don’t think that would be the kind of mother I would want to be. Then in the Hamilton home, I witnessed two terrible mothers. It is being responsible for someone’s life and shaping them to be a good person that I am afraid of. Besides Janes, I do not have good examples to pull from," Aurora stated her one fear of starting a family.
Vincent spoke kind things about his late mother. Vincent also had his father so he had good role models for his parents. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"I share the same fears as you but then I realize you and I will work together to raise wonderful children. Let’s put it this way. You saw examples of what not to do so you’ll be fine. You don’t seem like the type to kill one of your twins to use their heart. Are you because then I seriously need to reconsider this union," Vincent joked to lighten the mood.
"Of course not. I am nowhere near being that cruel. I suppose you are right that I am overthinking. Regina isn’t letting her history with her family affect her having a child with Timothy. She has already been worrying about whether or not her child would be normal. If the house is peaceful, I would not mind trying for our first child. If," Aurora stressed the word as it was important. "If Victor needs to speak with you, you cannot toss him out to make it happen."
The excitement Vincent felt vanished as he already knew either Derek or Victor would be present in his home. One of them, specifically Derek, was already there to ruin the mood. Still, all hope was not lost as long as he would kick the two out without Aurora noticing. He started to pray to Artemis that neither of the two fools was present in his home at the moment.
"Your silence tells me you are plotting a way to secretly get rid of whoever is at your home. What is the rush when we will have a lifetime together? I will have nothing to do tomorrow so if we can’t try tonight, tomorrow is not far away," Aurora said to calm his raging thoughts.
Little did she know, none of what she said reached Vincent’s mind. Once a werewolf was ready to mate nothing else was on their mind. The desire to touch their chosen mate would consume their mind. Sometimes if they were far away from their partner, they would start to feel hot and could only be calmed down through intimacy.
"Vincent?" Aurora called his name after the silence continued. "Oh boy," she muttered.
’What have I gotten myself into?’ She thought. Aurora blushed as she pictured herself unable to leave their bed now that she had accepted trying to have a baby. It was too late to take it all back now and say they should wait until after their wedding.
Weddings did not matter to werewolves who cared more about the marks they placed on their mates. The moon mark on her skin was proof that they were already married in werewolf traditions.
