Chapter 250: Calm before the storm (3)
Esmeralda would have still died if Aurora had not shown up at the Hamilton’s home. Esmeralda was against the things her family did and since they were looking for a witch’s heart to use in the sacrifice, Esmeralda’s father would have killed her for not being like the rest of their family.
It was Esmeralda’s fate to die young. It was something that could not be stopped but something could be done about the countless children Minnie was sacrificing to trap Aurora.
Witches were forbidden from using spells that would need sacrifices. Dark magic was a threat not only to humans but to werewolves and other creatures. Aurora had no idea what Minnie’s end goal was. What was the wish Minnie so desperately wanted to pull out of her to keep looking for a witch stronger than the last one?
"Everything happens in life for a reason. That’s what I now like to think about the mess I found myself in. I keep thinking of how I should have woken up early to stop those children from being killed. Whatever spell they used to trap me, I must kill everyone who knows of it or they can trap others who are special," Aurora said.
"Witches tend to keep many of their spells in books and pass them around to one another. We would need to find the book with the knowledge of how to trap someone with sacrifices and burn it. It is dangerous since it made your body shift to a child and you had to grow all over again," Vincent stated.
This was why he was not one to fully trust witches. Their spells were too dangerous and if they dipped their hands into their dark magic, anyone could get hurt.
"Regina seems to be more witch than human. If they ever find out, Minnie will either use her heart, make Regina take part in dark magic, or wipe Regina’s memories and have her marry a witcher to make their witch blood stronger again," Aurora said, realizing how much more dangerous it was for Regina to still be in that house.
"We need to lure them away from their house. I am not affected by regular wolfsbane but they seemed to have mixed it with a spell. I cannot enter their property with you."
Aurora had not considered this in her planning. She forgot about all the wolfsbane the gardener placed around the home. There had to be something special about it.
She thought of a place she could lure Minnie to. "The mountain. There is a cave in the mountain behind their home. That is where they perform the sacrifices. We first need to meet with Regina to coordinate luring out her family. She will be our inside person."
"Looks like you have the beginning of your battle plan figured out," Vincent patted her head. He was glad she was planning out her move rather than jumping straight into returning to the Hamilton home to get revenge.
Many fights were lost due to not having a good battle plan. Even if they had to stray away from the plan at some point, they knew what their end goal was. Kill the Hamiltons, save the children taken, and burn the book with dark magic.
"I think they need you for something," Aurora pointed at a crowd of people staring at Vincent. "You are the main event. They must be waiting for you to shift into a wolf. Go on, I wish to see it too."
Aurora loved seeing the other side of Vincent.
"As you wish," Vincent got down on all fours, howling to the moon as his body shifted from a man to a wolf. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Aurora watched in amazement as Vincent transformed. His body started to become covered in fur and his bones could be heard cracking as they changed. She was surprised he had not changed into the beast but instead became a large black wolf. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Vincent’s fur blew in the wind as he shook his body to get used to his new form. In the corner of her eyes, Aurora saw others getting down to the ground most likely to shift just as Vincent had.
"Wolf, wolf, wolf," she heard the youngest human child cheering.
Aurora looked to her side thinking the girl was happy to see Vincent change but she realized they were two brown wolves playing with the children. It had to be Derek and Jane who changed. They were not as large as the black wolf but it was expected.
"Why are you not looking at me?" Aurora heard Vincent’s voice in her head. Even as a wolf he was still jealous.
"I am looking at you, Vincent. Who could miss such a beautiful wolf standing in front of them? Wait," she almost fell backward when Vincent began to rub up against her, sniffing her body. "Vincent, you are too big. You are not a small wolf."
"Obviously, I am alpha. I am meant to be the strongest one here. I am going for a run with the others. Stay put."
"I will," Aurora replied, running her hands through his fur to feel his warmth.
Vincent howled, causing Aurora to place her hands over her ears to block out the loud noise. He gave her one final look before running off, soon followed by everyone who shifted into a wolf.
"This will be fun!" Cherry exclaimed, going down on the ground to shift, followed by Victor.
One of the brown wolves Aurora knew had to be either Jane or Derek stopped in front of her. Aurora couldn’t hear what they were saying like she could with Vincent but she knew they were asking her to watch the children while they joined the run.
"Girls, come have a seat with me," Aurora called the two children.
Abigail took her sister’s hand and led her to Aurora. "Can we do that too? Can we transform into wolves?"
"In a couple of years when I can grant another wish, it might be possible. You will be the first humans who ever wished to become wolves," Aurora smiled but then she frowned when something came to mind. "Forget I said that."
