Chapter 232: Warmth (1)

"The staring has increased today thanks to the announcement about you," Regina said as she walked holding onto Timothy’s hand.

The moment they left his carriage all eyes were on them and the whispering had started.

"I offered for us to stay in the carriage and talk some more," Timothy whispered.

"It felt like the carriage was getting smaller the longer we stayed in there. I didn’t think there would be this many people out on the pasture. Who on earth could find love at a place with dirt and bugs?" Regina didn’t see the romantic atmosphere others were seeing.

"It is much better than going down by the stream. There have been many incidents where people have fallen into the water because they weren’t paying attention."

This caught Regina’s attention. "Now that sounds entertaining. We should have gone there though it would have more people than on the pasture. Let’s take a seat here. I am tired."

"We have already discussed my answer but you would make an excellent queen Regina. You have a way of commanding everyone around you," Timothy said as he helped her to the ground to sit.

"That sounds like you think I am bossy," Regina fixed her dress when she sat down to avoid there being any place her feet might be showing.

"Aren’t you?" Timothy responded as he sat down beside her.

"Well yes but I don’t like the way you say it and I still don’t care to be queen. It takes more than just being bossy right? I would not be able to stomach the responsibilities that come with such a position. Look at all the women out there eyeing you even though they are with partners," Regina stared directly at the said women.

Had they no shame? They already had their eyes set on specific men but now Timothy could be king; they were eyeing him.

Regina placed her hand over his to show that he was already taken. It wouldn’t be much to fight off his pursuers until they got engaged but for now, they should grasp what she was doing. freewebnovёl.ƈom

"Had I known you would have acted like this I would have let them spread the news sooner. I am enjoying this jealous side of you," Timothy happily smiled.

"Jealous? Why on earth would you assume that I am jealous?" Regina looked at him bewildered.

"You are staking your claim over me," he pointed at their hands to prove it.

"You are mine. Have you forgotten our deal? I am not in the mood to have to battle it out for you with all these girls who want to become queen. Therefore, I am simply letting them know you are mine." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"I get that but you don’t realize how much you were glaring at them. You don’t like that others are looking at me and that’s wonderful because I enjoy seeing you like this," Timothy confessed.

Regina stared at him in disbelief. Did she need to remind him constantly that there was only one person here with feelings? "Are you crazy?" Was the only thing she could ask him.

"No, I am in love with you. I am willing to bet that you are slowly starting to feel something for me. Don’t be afraid to tell me when you start liking me. There should be no secrets from your husband."

Regina removed her hand from Timothy’s since it seemed to be messing with his head. "What husband you fool. Tell me those kinds when we are married. You liking me is extremely creepy and hard for me to process still. Hey, let’s argue like old times."

"What the hell," Timothy chuckled, taken aback by her requests. "We are not children to be arguing as much as we used to. Though I do think it would be fun, it’s best we don’t give off the impression that we don’t get along. Our marriage would look like it’s failing before it even starts."

"That’s true," Regina agreed. She decided to lay back against the soft grass even if it would be unladylike. Regina watched Timothy do the same so no one would be able to talk about her doing it. To badmouth Regina they would also need to talk about Timothy doing the same thing.

She knew he was a good person all along but he was still annoying. Timothy would make a fine husband to anyone but yet, he wanted to be in a relationship with someone who had no feelings for him. How could he be content with being by her side like this? It made her start to feel guilty.

"You can have a mistress if you want," she said out of the blue.

Timothy almost choked on his own spit hearing the words leave her mouth. "W-What?"

"I said you can have a mistress. It would be best if you find someone who could love you but keep quiet about your meetings. We do not need a scandal. I would have never liked a mistress around-"

"Then shut up. Are you taking my feelings for you as a joke? I am giving up the choice to become king for you. I am offering to ruin your family for you. What more do I have to do to prove my feelings? I am not in need of a mistress. Do not label me as a man who needs to cheat," Timothy was beyond offended.

"Technically, it shouldn’t be considered cheating because your feelings are one-sided. I feel bad thinking of how I am unable to return your feelings. Wouldn’t it be better for you to at least have the warmth of another woman who could make up for what I am unable to give you?"

Regina couldn’t believe what she was saying. If she could, she would punch herself for recommending such a thing.

Timothy sighed, trying his best not to let his anger get the best of him. "You are really dense when it comes to these things Regina. I shall never need the warmth of another woman. I understand what I am getting myself into with you having no feelings for me. I respectfully ask that you never speak of this again."

"G-Good because it’s making me feel weird just imagining it," Regina confessed. Now that she pictured Timothy with another woman in what would be their home, her chest felt tight.
