Chapter 229: Glamour (1)
"You’re going to call those witches again, aren’t you? It seems like when they come around something interesting will happen. Did Vincent ever tell you that I was upset you brought them here the first time without his permission?" It had been a while since then but Jane had no problem bringing up what she once felt when she didn’t know Aurora well.
"No. Most likely he did it not to make me feel weird around you. You were my guard after all. You did warn me to think of how my actions could affect Vincent. You weren’t wrong," Aurora still agreed with Jane being overprotective of Vincent.
"How on earth did you and Derek fall in love with each other?" Aurora asked out of the blue.
"I am asked this question every day," said Jane.
"When we first met you were skeptical and protective of Vincent while Derek was so carefree. No matter how I look at it, you two are polar opposites. Vincent and I differ when it comes to children, humans, and being kind. How did you manage to remain married for so long?"
"Are you and Vincent thinking of getting married? Let’s see," Jane started to think about her marriage. "To be honest, I don’t think I would’ve liked being married to someone who is like me. A complete workaholic with an overbearing mother. Derek’s laid-back behavior is what I needed around me."
"He’s probably listening to us from downstairs. He might not have the best work ethic but contrary to what everyone else sees, he works hard to take care of me. If I said I no longer wanted to lift a finger he would support it and work to bring in all the money. We complete each other and when you love someone you don’t care about anything else," Jane tried to explain as best she could.
"I see," Aurora understood it a bit. Truthfully, she was never created with emotions such as love and had to learn about it over time. Even now, she did not completely understand it but did everyone else really know everything about love?
"I am probably not the best person to explain it to you even though I am married. I am not a love expert. My sister would be the best person for you but we are at odds. Still, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Even if you and Vincent have small differences I believe you’ll be together for an eternity."
"Thank you. I will let you know when I can grant your wish, Jane. You should tell Derek about it. I will look into this glamour thing before the full moon tonight if you don’t mind. It makes me-oh! Hi," Aurora said when she saw the butler was in a dark corner.
"He must want to speak with you. Excuse me," Jane bid goodbye to Aurora. She was surprised to see the butler was showing himself to Aurora. If you weren’t told Vincent had a butler, you wouldn’t know there was one here taking care of the house.
"Hello again. What’s this?" Aurora looked down at a package John was holding out to her as he walked to her door. She took it from the quiet man and opened it. "Is this to call the three witches? Thank you. Is there-Oh," she paused when he turned to walk away. freewёbnoνel.com
"Ugh," Aurora wasn’t sure how to process her encounters with the man but he seemed alright. A little creepy because of how silent he was but he was still okay in her books. "How long was he in that dark corner? I am not going to question it any further. I prefer him over Duncan."
Aurora closed the door of her bedroom. Before Jane had come to see her, she had been looking at the window Regina had created for them to speak. Since their last talk, she had not heard from Regina.
After seeing how much life in the Hamilton house was taking a toll on Regina, Aurora wanted to go back so they could talk face to face. The glamour Jane talked about would be useful if it could make her look normal. For an extra precaution, there was someone she could take with her.
"He’s going to be against this," Aurora sighed, turning around to have a chat with Vincent. She mentally prepared herself for him to shoot down her idea. "I might have a better chance trying to take John or Jane."
"Better chance at what?" Vincent asked from the top of the stairs. "I wasn’t spying on you. The children are becoming unbearable."
"I heard that!" Derek yelled from the bottom floor.
"I knew it wouldn’t be so long before you ran away from those two. What would you be like with our children? I’m curious," Aurora tried to imagine it.
"I would love our children. It’s the other ones that are annoying. What is it that you have a better chance with Jane or John? Why am I not included in whatever it is? Why?" Vincent didn’t understand why she would not include him when he was much
"Calm down with your jealousy, Vincent. I only said that because you would shoot down my idea. I want to go back to where Regina is and there is a glamour the witches use which could change my appearance. It would be safe if you tag along with me but you wouldn’t want a witch to-"
"I’ll do it."
"You’ll what? Are you sick?" Aurora checked his temperature. "It’s normal. Don’t tell me you got poisoned again. Does anything hurt?"
"Why is it that when I agree to your plans you think there is something wrong with me? You hurt me so much," he placed a hand on his chest. "Am I really that controlling of you?"
"I wouldn’t say you are controlling but you are very protective. Rightfully so but when you agree to things so easily, especially concerning witches, it freaks me out. Do we need to bring a doctor?" She still was not convinced.
