Chapter 206: Plan (3)
By the end of the day, news of Vincent’s health spread throughout the community. Cecilia anxiously bit her nails as she waited for Graham’s return.
"Why on earth is he away when all of this is happening? I can’t deal with this alone," she fanned, trying to cool down. The room felt hot all of sudden even with all the windows open and fresh air was clearly blowing in.
A knock at the front made her gasp and she clutched her dress.
"Where the hell have you been? Victor," she cocked her head to the side confused by his visit. "W-Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be by Vincent’s side at this time? Unless the rumors are not true?"
"I came to see my uncle to talk about Vincent. He’s not doing so well. Ugh, he was poisoned with wolfsbane, and the others are finding a cure. I just need someone to talk to," Victor wiped his tears away. His eyes were swollen due to his crying on the way to his uncle’s house. "He didn’t look good."
"Oh sweetheart," Cecilia hugged him but behind his back, she grinned thinking they had successfully poisoned Vincent and it wouldn’t be long before she became the wife of the leader. That is if Victor didn’t want it but he would be much easier to kill than Vincent. "Come inside and talk to me until your uncle returns. I promise everything is okay."
Cecilia ushered Victor inside to have a chat. This was a prime opportunity for her to get all the details as the gossip she heard from friends was too vague. "Would you like some tea Victor?"
"No, I can’t eat or drink at a time like this. We have to find a cure and the person who poisoned him."
"Do you have a clue who it might be? Vincent doesn’t allow anyone he doesn’t trust to be in his home. I don’t see how anyone could poison him. I hope they find the person soon. I might not have the best relationship with Vincent thanks to my marriage to Graham but I really wish the best for him. You know that right?" She placed her hand on top of Victor’s hand.
"Yes," Victor replied but couldn’t help thinking of how much he hated Cecilia. For creatures who stop aging after a certain point, they look young. Cecilia was almost old enough to be his mother but that did not stop the woman from making a move on Vincent, Victor, and then hitting it big with Graham.
He always hated people who would sell their souls if it meant moving up the social ladder. Cecilia always had the audacity to act like his mother when he told her to stop. Why should she play a motherly role in his life when at one point she wanted to screw him?
If his uncle really was the one to poison Vincent and Cecilia knew about it this entire time, he wasn’t going to leave her be. He wasn’t going to allow Cecilia to enjoy her uncle’s wealth when he is dead. Victor would kill her and hand over the wealth to the first wife.
"On second thought, I could use a little bit of water if you don’t mind. My throat feels dry," he said wanting to end the torture of her holding his hand.
"No problem. It’s a lot you are going through but you must make sure you eat and drink. You have to be well in Vincent’s absence to do his job. Would you want to become the leader Victor? This is just if Vincent were to pass away. I just want you prepared for what could happen in the next few days."
Cecilia sounded like she was concerned but with her back turned to Victor as she poured him a glass of water, her face didn’t show that same concern. She was plotting to see if she would have to get rid of Victor. There was still more wolfsbane hidden in the house so it wouldn’t be too difficult to offer Victor his final meal.
"No. Becoming the leader has never been something I desired. That role has only ever suited Vincent. I am sure Vincent will pull through so there will be nothing for me to worry about." Victor was now certain it was Cecilia and Graham who had something to do with Vincent’s current state.
Derek mentioned his uncle would be the one to ask about him wanting to be the leader. For Cecilia to ask it too showed that she was eyeing the spot along with his uncle. She had to be in on whatever Graham was planning too.
"That means your family will be fighting over the spot but Graham will be the best choice-"
"Cecilia, I would love for you to stop talking as if my brother is dead. To eye the spot which has nothing to do with you is upsetting me. Please choose your words carefully. I mean it," he glared at her back. Victor was not in a patient mood to smile and pretend like her words didn’t annoy him.
"I’m sorry for not being careful with my words Victor. That was careless of me. Please don’t take that as me not caring. I am only concerned about the future. One of us has to think about it while the others mourn. You have to understand that people will have their eyes on you," she walked back to where he was to give him the glass of water.
"Everyone will want to know where your head is at. If you want to be the leader, something should happen to Vincent. How are you going to find the cure or culprit? Can they come to you with their problems while Vincent is trying to survive? You must mentally prepare for this and I must be the cruel person to do it."
Victor wanted to laugh in her face because her words made no sense. The woman had no idea how to defend herself with common sense. She could have stopped at I’m sorry but some people didn’t know how to stop digging their own graves. Pushing his anger and annoyance to the side, Victor replied, "I understand."
"I’d hate to trouble you but can I-"
A knock at the door interrupted what Victor was going to ask Cecilia. He mentally cursed the person for coming at this instance until he saw it was Graham when Cecilia opened the door. Graham must not have smelled or noticed his presence as he walked into the home with a huge smile on his face.
"Have you heard the-Ugh," Graham groaned when Cecilia nudged him in his side and pointed at Victor. "Victor? Come here, son. Your eyes look swollen. I just returned and heard the news of what happened to your brother. I am sorry."
"I came here to talk to you but only found Cecilia. I was about to ask if you wouldn’t mind if I stay here for a while. I can’t handle the sight of Vincent on his bed with his life slowly fading away and I am all alone at my home. I just need people I am close to around at a time like this."
"Of course, you are always welcome to stay here. We can’t let you be alone at a time like this. Let me give you a hug," Graham left Cecilia’s side and went over to Victor. "Everything is going to be okay."
’How evil of you to say that after you just walked in with a smile,’ Victor thought as he hugged his uncle.
"I will visit Vincent again and then go home to gather some things for my stay here. I will be back shortly," Victor said. Part one of the plan was complete with him being able to stay there. Next, he would get the two of them out of the house for him to search it and find proof.
He was determined to have them stand in front of the community and expose all of their crimes before their death. Victor no longer wanted the two of them to die right away. He wanted them to be tortured mentally and physically.
"See you soon," he bid goodbye to the two.
With Victor gone, the grin on Graham’s face returned now that he was so close to becoming the leader. The position was meant to be his but Vincent had stolen it away. "Has that girl we sent there returned to tell you anything?" ƒгeewebnovёl.com
"No, but if she comes to us it will make us look suspicious. You have to get rid of her before she could mention us, Graham. Let’s not take a risk and kill her the first chance we get. Better yet, kill her entire family," Cecilia suggested, a little worried Mari would spoil everything.
"She will be dealt with but even if she mentions us there is nothing to prove that we had anything to do with it. Do not worry Cecilia. This will work out wonderful for us. I must let the vampires know about this. I have my end of the deal to fulfill with them."
