Chapter 199: The visit (4)

"You could help me pick them up," Derek said as he tried to pick up the things he dropped before anyone might step on them.

"You were the one to dramatically drop them. Why should I help?" Vincent replied. "Why would I reward stupidity?"

"The more you speak the more I know it’s one hundred percent you. Only you treat me this way. Well, you and Jane’s mother," Derek stood back up.

"How are the in-laws?"

"I have no clue. Since we took the children, Jane’s mother has not been talking to us which is a good thing for me but it sucks for Jane. Her mother might be crazy, overbearing, rude, judgmental-"

"I get the point," Vincent stopped Dererk before he could give a hundred more words.

"As much as I dislike the woman and I mean I really dislike her, I want Jane to be able to go out and speak with her mother. We get to see my parents a lot of the time most likely because they are sane and they don’t hate the children. Hopefully, it all works out in the end but I am not the one who has to fix it. You should be happy you aren’t married to deal with in-laws."

"I will be married soon. If I speed up everything we could be married by next week but I would prefer we get married tomorrow if possible. Aurora would never agree to it though," Vincent sighed looking up to the sky thinking about his future.

Meanwhile, Derek was a fish out of the water upon hearing Vincent was getting married soon. "Have you proposed to Aurora? When the hell was this?"

"Today. In the spur of the moment, I asked her to marry me and she said she would after we deal with the people we have issues with."

"What on earth? I never pictured you to be getting married so soon. Congratulations Vincent," Derek patted him on the back. "You’ll break a lot of hearts from the women who had their eyes on you. The community might flood out from the number of tears but as long as you are happy. Congrats again man but why did you admit this out loud for everyone to hear us?" Derek looked around seeing the eavesdroppers shocked from hearing news of Vincent soon to be married.

"I don’t care. It was bound to happen after I gave Aurora my mother’s necklace. Plus, I’m hoping it causes a commotion with my family members. Drop off those things at your home and then come see me. Immediately," Vincent added so that Derek knew not to try avoiding him. "If you don’t come to me, I will go find you and drag you out."

"Fine, I get it. No need to be so serious. I need to start back making more money anyway. By the way, we’re planning a dinner for everyone to attend now that the girls are starting to get accustomed here. We want Aurora and Mari to come along with you."

Now that he heard the name, Vincent realized he didn’t see Mari arrive for her job this morning and there were many times she came in late. He wasn’t one to enjoy having an employee slack off no matter how much he liked them.

He was tempted to fire Derek years ago for this. If Aurora was the one to send Mari home early or tell her to arrive late, he was fine with that. However, for Mari to get accustomed to doing as she pleased was something he had to put a stop to.

"There’s something up with Mari. I’m not sure if it is her family again or something else. I have offered to help her pay off her debt but she denied it each time," said Vincent. It wasn’t like he was going to give her interest or a specific date on which she had to pay him back.

"I heard talk that her family actually paid off the debt Mari had been paying off but then they borrowed from someone else again. Honestly, they didn’t learn their lesson with the first debt. How could they do that again after seeing how hard Mari worked to pay it off? I know we can live for a long time but still, she gave up a lot of her youth. Makes me want to work a little harder to make sure I don’t mess up the girl’s future."

"Aren’t you concerned about their death? Humans age fast," Vincent said out of the blue.

"You could be a little bit more sensitive, ass. Of course, I thought about it which is why I came to the conclusion that you should-"

"No," Vincent denied the request as he already knew what Derek was going to say.

"Oh come on. You wouldn’t be the first alpha to turn a human into a werewolf. One single bit from you is all it would take," Derek held up one finger to stress on the one bite.

"It is also one extremely painful bite and experience for the person involved. Children wouldn’t be able to handle the pain and no, I won’t wait until they get older. Be at my house in less than an hour or I’ll embarrass you in front of your family. See you soon," Vincent smiled before continuing on his way to his house.

"Brother!" Vincent rolled his eyes when another person called his name.

"Why can’t all of you see me and leave me alone?" He kept walking, not bothering to stop for Victor.

"How can we simply see the alpha and leave him be? That’s not how your job works. I am in a little predicament and I need some advice," Victor ran up to walk beside his brother. ƒrēewebnovel.com

"Go see a professional and leave me alone. That’s my advice," said Vincent. He was so close to having a peaceful walk back to his house.

"As your younger brother, it is my job to annoy you and ask you for advice. You wouldn’t want me to do something stupid, would you? Oh, congratulations on getting married to Aurora. It has been long overdue but I am happy for the two of you." Right before Victor saw Vincent, he heard gossip about Vincent admitting to getting married.

Normally, Victor wouldn’t pay any gossip about Vincent any mind, unless it concerned Vincent killing anyone, but he believed the marriage gossip right away considering it was Aurora they said he had proposed to.

"You waited so long to get married and made me have to wait. I can start planning my wedding now," Victor started going off course from what he initially came to Vincent for.

"Don’t you have to be in a relationship or at least have a bribe for you to get married? Unless you are planning to be the third person who married themself? I have to warn you in advance that I am not attending another wedding like that. The first one was a mistake," Vincent grimaced as he remembered horrifying images from the first one.

He couldn’t forget the images of the man loving himself in front of the crowd. Vincent didn’t want to think about what the honeymoon looked like.

"That man might be happier than all of us will ever be in marriage. The only problem is him being unable to divorce himself," Victor snickered as he imagined how interesting the trial would be for the man to get a divorce from himself. Vincent’s expression would make it even more hilarious. "My right and left hand are not getting along so I ask that the elders separate us."

"Very funny," Vincent sarcastically replied but he knew a situation like this could happen. There have been a lot of stupid trials he had to take part in before. "What is it that you need advice on? Tell me quickly so that you can leave faster."

"Geez, treat me a little bit better, older brother. Since I moved and Aurora came back we have not been spending a lot of time together. I was honestly thinking of moving back with you but then you’ll be a married man soon and you’ll want privacy. Plus you’ll have children. Anyway, I have an issue with a certain find we share," Victor whispered even though it was pointless. Everyone could still hear.

"You mean the problem the two of you continue to have since the moment you have met? How many times must I advise you to tell her how you feel and then go from there? What’s so hard about that?" Vincent grew bored of the back and forth with his brother and Cherry. He knew they slept together a couple of times before. What was so difficult in saying they want to make things serious?

"We slept together after the kidnapping incident and I thought with her in my arms I should just say how I feel but then I kind of got scared. Now it’s awkward between us and we are avoiding each other. I can say I love her so easily when she’s not around but then when she’s standing there I just feel like I lose communication with my brain. Any advice? I want us together this time."

Vincent nodded his head, having a solution. He pulled Victor close to him to whisper, "My advice is to stop being a coward or a man who knows what he wants will take her away."
