Chapter 188: Awkward (1)
Aurora slowly opened her tired eyes due to feeling hungry from missing dinner last night. Her body all around felt drained but she was in need to go searching for food. When she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes with her hand was almost taken aback by how close Vincent’s face was to her.
It didn’t take long for the events of last night to come rushing back to her at full speed. She blushed at first which was unlike her because she wasn’t new to making love with Vincent.
’All of my training to be a proper woman at the Hamiltons is stuck with me,’ she thought.
"You look so defenseless like this," she poked his cheek with her finger. His eyes were closed as if he was asleep but she knew better. "Vincent, I know you are awake," she pinched his cheek.
Vincent grabbed her hand to stop her from hurting him. "What is it with you and violence? You said that I was a sadist but I think you are. Good morning," he greeted her with a charming smile.
"Good morning," she turned her head to the side to avoid looking at him. How could he appear dashing after just waking up? It was completely unfair since she was certain her hair was not in its best form right now.
Aurora tried to smooth out her hair to appear more presentable.
"What are you doing?" Vincent asked, laying on his side confused as to why she was avoiding him now. It was only the two of them in his bedroom right now and it wasn’t like she was the only one naked.
"Fixing my hair. We can’t all wake up looking good," she pushed his hand away when he tried to stop her.
"You look beautiful right now."
"You love me so you’re supposed to say things like that but I know the truth," she continued to fix it until she felt like it was decent. When she was done, Aurora sat up using the blanket on the bed to cover herself.
She looked out the window and figured it was late into the morning already. "Don’t you have to start working?" She asked.
"Later on I have to leave with Derek. Why? Do you want me to leave now?" He played with a strand of her hair while she stared down at him contemplating what to ask now. "You ask me about work a lot but I am always working from here. The new walls and the vampires are the only things occupying my time now."
"It’s around mating season for everyone here. You’re about to hear a lot of complaints about mates being stolen or their mates not wanting them because they care for the tradition of falling for the person they have a link with. Your mate must be upset to see me here," Aurora grinned imagining the anger on the face of whoever the woman might be.
"I have missed seeing this devious side of you popping out once in a while. My mate is already laying in bed with me. No need to be concerned over anyone’s feelings. You are hungry," he said because her stomach was trying to make its presence known.
Vincent thought about waking her up last night to get a snack since they had skipped dinner but she was sleeping so peacefully that he let her finish sleeping. "I will go get something for you-" freёwebnovel.com
"No," she stopped him. "I prefer we go downstairs and eat at the table. You have that beautiful table set up all for nothing. No more eating in the bedroom. I am going to get dressed. Can I borrow your bathroom?"
"What’s mine belongs to you." Vincent remained on the bed alone while Aurora sat up with his blanket wrapped around herself to hide her body from his eyes. "In case you forgot, my eyesight is perfect at night."
"I know that but I don’t want you getting any ideas as I am not staying in bed forever," Aurora replied, closing the door of this bathroom right after.
She was right in the fact he was considering taking her back to bed to finish where they left off. However, the chances of that happening are low right now.
Vincent sighed, getting up from the bed to put on pants to warn his workers not to come on this floor as he could not enter Aurora’s room to get her clothes because of the witch spell. Aurora would have to leave his room wearing one of his shirts and he doubted she wanted anyone to see that.
Back at the Hamilton home, Regina had awakened early to retrieve the book she got from the witches to read early in the morning before breakfast with her family. Her father sent a message that she would not be going out to work today since Timothy was paying them a visit during breakfast.
Regina informed her father that Timothy would not get in the way of her work and that she was going to leave at noon to visit the wine shop. The workers would think poorly of her if she missed her second day of work.
Hidden away in her closet, Regina had the book opened looking at the various spells, potions, and signs the witches used. Some of the things written in the book made her want to puke because of the ingredients they required. She was never going to go out and catch a snake just to make someone ugly.
"I should try practicing an easy one," she muttered, flipping through the pages to find a spell that didn’t seem too hard or dangerous. "Have you ever cast a spell on someone or something, great grandmother?"
Esmeralda sat in the corner of Regina’s closet hugging her feet as she watched Regina read the book. "I only tried it a few times but stopped because I didn’t have a book or teacher to learn from. There should be books like the one you have here but my father hid them as protection in case anyone ever tried snooping around."
"I have a feeling the person wouldn’t live long enough for them to tell the tale of what they saw in this house. I found a spell!" Regina exclaimed. "Controlling a puppet. I need one of my old dolls first," she got up to find one of her old favorite dolls she kept hidden in the closet. Her mother burned the rest saying that Regina had no use for her childhood things.
"I’m sorry Nancy," Regina apologized to the poor doll she was using for the spell. Regina also took up a lip paint to draw a sign on the floor.
She sat back down on the floor and drew a sign similar to the one in the book. Regina then placed the doll in the middle. Regina repeated the words written in the book and soon after, the red lip paint she used to draw the sign turned back and the doll stood up.
At first, Regina thought it didn’t work since the doll only stood up. She was expecting it to do so much more than just stand up. "Did I do it wrong?" She asked Esmeralda but the woman could only shrug her shoulders since she wasn’t familiar with the spell. "Well, that was a letdown. Control a puppet," she read the name of the spell again.
"Sit," Regina ordered the doll but it did nothing. "The sign must be wrong or maybe I pronounced a word from the spell wrong? Why did my lip paint change from red to black? Does that mean it failed? I have so many questions."
"Relax dear, this was only your first try. You have to remember that you have human blood in you so your spells won’t be as strong as other witches. And the witches at the shop did not recognize you as a witch therefore, you have not bloomed into what you are as yet. You got it to stand up at least," Esmeralda complimented her.
"You’re right. I shouldn’t try rushing to get these things right. This isn’t a toy or a game. I’m just nervous because it feels like I have to know these things as soon as possible. I have had a weird feeling in my chest since last night. Something doesn’t feel right. Outside of those children, you showed me, don’t you think this house is too quiet?
The arguments among family members were normal but Minnie was calm and did not lose her mind for not having Aurora. Something must be reassuring her that Aurora would be back soon and Minnie must have something in her hands to guarantee Aurora would be trapped again. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"Minnie could be putting on an act like she wasn’t too worried about Aurora not being found but I can’t help feeling something will happen soon. Do you think she might try using me as bait?"
"That is the only thing that could make Aurora want to return but I hope the man she left with keeps her as far away from here as possible. Is there a spell to help me talk to Aurora?" She started flipping through the pages again.
