Chapter 166: New beginnings (1)

"Regina, what’s the point of asking me questions like this? You are making me out to be the bad guy over one little decision that I made without consulting you," Samuel said, tired of going around in a circle when it came to his sister. What was the point of agreeing to work with him only to treat him like this?

"I want to see if you’ll start being honest again or will you lie to me? And it’s not one little decision you made. You’ve been pissing me off a lot these days. Be thankful that I am at least talking to you. Some brother you are," Regina said out loud, not bothering to speak softly as a maid was present in the room.

"Regina! I’ve been trying to mend our relationship because of my wrongdoings but I won’t tolerate you speaking to me however you feel. Especially in front of people who are not our family members."

"When you start being honest when answering my questions then I will stop. Till then, try your best to put up with my behavior. I’m tired of this family and after a long night awake, you do not want to keep annoying me-" Regina paused when she felt a smack against her cheek. It took her a second to register that her brother slapped her.

"S-Shit, I’m sorry Regina. I just...I’m tired of the way you’ve been speaking to me all your life. I shouldn’t have hit you," Samuel apologized trying to soothe the area he had hit but she pushed his hand away from touching her.

"Slapped two times in my life and it happened within a week. Get the hell out of my bedroom Samuel and consider us not on speaking terms again. You can stop looking for a partner for me. If you can slap me after a few words, I don’t think I’ll like your taste in a good partner. See your way out," she looked away from him.

"Regina, I said I am sorry-"

"Just because you apologize every time you do something does not mean I will forgive you. Haven’t you been paying attention? It will hurt our father to see the pricey education he got for us is not working out for you. Just so you know, I will repay you for this slap. I will take my leave," she bid him goodbye since he wouldn’t be the one to go.

Passing by a mirror, she saw that her cheek had turned red from where Samuel slapped her. Skin that had never been touched in that manner had turned red quickly.

"Regina, wait! Don’t let father-"

She drowned out his words and kept walking toward her father’s private area to let him know she was about to leave early. Regina could hear Samuel trailing after her to stop her from where she was going but she continued to ignore him.

"Regina, don’t be childish. I’ll give you anything you want if you come with me."

’He says that like I am not also from a rich family,’ she rolled her eyes.

"Regina-" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"Father!" She yelled seeing him in front of the bedroom he shared with her mother. Rachel was standing there too but Regina didn’t address her because of the conversation they had when her mother slapped her. "Good morning," she said in general.

"Good morning-Regina, what happened to your cheek? Did someone hit you?" Nathaniel was furious to see someone had laid their hand upon his daughter. He had never done such a thing and expected that no one would treat his daughter like she was a common person on the street.

Hearing this, Rachel came to Regina’s side to get a look at her daughter’s cheek. She wanted to comment on it but then she remembered that she had also slapped Regina recently. Her husband knew nothing of it.

"Father, I can explain," Samuel said in a timid tone. His father appeared furious seeing that Regina had been hit. When his father finds out he was the one that did it he was certain he would be punished. Why would Regina do this to him when he could make it up to her?

"Samuel was the one who hit me because I upset him with my words," Regina revealed the truth. Why should she protect Samuel after he slapped her?

Nathaniel turned his gaze from his daughter to his son who was shaking. What gave him the right to lay his hand on his own sister? "Have you lost your goddamn mind, Samuel? Are you not a man? Can you not take something a lady tells you? I should just-move out of my way Rachel," he said when his wife rushed to shield their son.

"No Nathaniel, you cannot hit him. We have not heard what it is that Regina told him. I’m sure it was a mistake. Let’s hear him out first before we do anything to him please," Rachel begged her husband. There was no reason for Nathaniel to see hitting their son as a solution. "Just talk to him."

Regina rolled her eyes seeing her mother defend Samuel once again while she was left on the sidelines. "Mother also hit me the day you told her to find me a job. Am I supposed to prepare myself for you and Minnie to slap me too?" She asked her father.

"You did what, Rachel? Why is everyone getting comfortable with slapping my daughter? Have the two of you lost your mind? We do not hurt our family."

’I beg to differ,’ Regina thought. Maybe if her family kept telling themselves that it’ll come true.

"It was a mistake, Nathaniel. I regret hitting her, believe me, I do. I know it was wrong of me to hit her but at the moment I just..." Rachel trailed off having no good excuse for it. "It won’t happen again from me or Samuel. I promise."

"Rachel, step away from the boy right now. I cannot leave him after he slapped his own sister for something she said. Do you know how many people will tell him things he doesn’t want to hear? He can’t go around slapping them, especially my daughter. I will deal with you later Rachel but right now, step away from him before I force you away."

"Nathaniel, please. Do not hurt our son. Talk to him and tell him what he did wrong," Rachel begged him. She never once laid a hand on her son and she was certain Nathaniel wouldn’t go easy on Samuel. Nathaniel loved his daughter more than his son, which was very unfortunate for Samuel.

"He’s old enough to know not to hit me. I think it’s good for father to deal with him," Regina spoke up for the first time since Samuel slapped her.

Rachel was irritated that Regina was pushing Nathaniel to deal with Samuel. She didn’t think Regina deserved to be slapped but Samuel should not be punished. "Enough Regina! You’ve already done enough."

"And here I thought after our last conversation you would be better but I was wrong, mother. My mistake. Father, I can’t stay here any longer. I want to go out and clear my mind before heading to the winery. I will see you later," she kissed him on the cheek while he was still angry with his wife and son.

She was a tiny bit sad she wouldn’t be able to witness what her father planned to do. Her mother and brother shouldn’t be angry with her after this considering they both slapped her. Fine, her words hurt them but touching her was their biggest mistake. She left the trio for them to figure out what will happen to Samuel.

"What a wonderful morning," she smiled making her way towards the entrance of the home. Regina had not seen Minnie yet and she preferred not to see her. Dealing with Samuel for the morning was already enough.

Regina exited the home, going toward the carriage awaiting her on the outside. Esmeralda was already waiting for her by the carriage with a smile on her face. "Good morning," Regina said to both the driver and her grandmother. freewebnøvel.com

"Good morning," Esmeralda replied, getting into the carriage after Regina. "You stirred up quite a commotion before you left. The house won’t be quiet when you return," she said when the carriage started to move as the driver wouldn’t be able to hear Regina speaking to someone who couldn’t be seen.

"I don’t mind that. It’s better to have everyone being angry with one another than all of us pretending to be a happy family. I can’t allow them to hit me and I do nothing. It’s not my fault everyone can’t fight with their words. How was your night? Were you able to find where the witches are?" Asked Regina.

"I was and you’re in luck as they’ll be there again this morning. You can’t let this opportunity slip by since the witches won’t be in the same spot for too long."
