Chapter 165: Special (4)

"Children? They are really going to kill those children? Where are they getting these children from?" Regina asked still in disbelief as she watched the children be taken away. They all looked so young that she couldn’t believe Minnie would take them as sacrifices.

"Those are orphans she picks up off the street or some greedy orphanages will sell off the children they get to her. Isn’t it strange? My daughter has publicly made big donations to these orphanages and got praise for it but this is really what she is doing. I love my children but I cannot allow Minnie to continue this life. I know this is scary but don’t consider running away."

"What can I do when Minnie controls when we leave home? Everyone here is under her control, my father, and mother. Samuel is going to start having people on his side soon. I have no one. No one wants to follow the daughter who can’t even prove her power," Regina became a bit insecure realizing her position in the house.

"I watched something interesting in the attic. When you threatened the maid for trying to tell on what you and Aurora were up to. You sit back and observe people for many years, use what you know against them carefully and build up your own people. Your brother told you he will find you a good husband with a good background. Although that is good, I want you to find someone who you could love one day," said Esmeralda.

The last thing she would want was for Regina to end up in a marriage like the one she had. A husband who disrespected and hurt her.

"My plan was to actually poison my husband after I get married. Is there any place I can get books from to practice witch spells or something? Am I able to do that?" Regina asked as being a witch would come in handy. It could be the one thing she had over her family to defend herself if her family ever tried to do something to her.

"There are witches who sell in town but you have to know what you are looking for. I will look around tonight and tell you in the morning. With being a witch and having that side of you awakening, you have to be careful not to get caught. Being burned alive is the punishment for captured witches."

"Noted," Regina replied, keeping that thought at the back of her mind. "I have to get it before someone sees me. My father is allowing me to work for one of our shops tomorrow. I will check for the witch shop if you find any information and I will look for a suitor on my own. It’s funny how after all these years of hating marriage I am looking for a partner."

"For girls like us, marriage is inevitable. The power and backing all go to the sons while we have to rely on our husbands. Play your cards right and this house will become to you so that your future daughters can have this to own and not have to be so bent on a husband to support them."

"I rather not have daughters altogether. I hate this world and I would not like to be concerned about how my daughters will be. To be honest, I don’t even want children. All they do is whine, complain, and leech off their parents. Like I did," Regina muttered remembering the kind of child she was growing up. Super spoiled. "I can’t handle a mini version of me."

"We all say that until we hold our children and fall in love with them. I will stop walking with you right here and head to town. Be careful not to get caught and have a good night’s rest. Tomorrow, we will officially start the plan of helping you become the heiress of this house. Goodnight dear," Esmeralda smiled, waving goodbye to Regina at the entrance of the home.

Regina waved goodbye to the woman and showed pity now that she was leaving. Her heart ached for the things the woman went through when she was still alive. "Let’s freaking do this," she pumped her fists up ready to turn this house upside down. Regina closed the front door behind her as she went back to her room determined. Scared but more determined than before.

She had to stop wasting time and start putting things in motion before her family could hurt anyone else.

When morning came, Regina got dressed to leave home to visit the town. Her father had kept his word and arranged for her to visit one of the wine shops they owned. Her mother was still against the idea and Minnie was upset about it but that was normal these days.

"You’re not really going to work there right? What is this about, sister? What point are you trying to prove to someone?" Samuel chuckled finding news of his sister going to visit one of the wine shops to be hilarious. Especially because he had asked their father to give him that one and somehow, Regina got it easily. "What did you say to your father to get this?"

"Samuel, I don’t appreciate you laughing like you think I can’t do this or that I don’t deserve it. Although I have agreed to work together with you, my emotions can change pretty easily so do not irritate me. You have worked under our father for many of his businesses. Surely, this one can’t be making you so jealous," Regina said as a maid straightened out her dress. She wasn’t particularly fond of this visit from her brother when she was still angry with him but pretending.

"Well, you have to agree that it is funny you one day decided you wanted to get involved in the family business. I can see why our mother is upset. You should be searching for a man to settle down with-"

"You are older than me, Samuel. Where is your bride to have her family backing you? Me working at the wine shop should not have you this upset. It is annoying and entertaining to me at the same time to see you be so openly greedy. One thing for sure, you certainly are Minnie’s grandson. I want the green earrings instead," she told the maid who brought her the gold ones. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"Greedy? Come on Regina. I am just concerned about what your plan is here."

"It really sounds like you are upset that father is allowing me to work there and not you. So in my eyes, you are greedy Samuel. My only question is, why did it take me so long to notice that? You must be good at being a two-faced brother," Regina replied, looking to the side at Samuel and picking up on his frown.

"Are you trying to say that I am not a good brother?" He asked standing up from the chair in Regina’s room to confront her. "How many times have I said I would protect you?"

"I think you were a good brother at one point in time when we were children but we all grew up. You saw what you wanted in life ahead of us which is normal because you are the oldest. You want everything our family name has to offer you. That must be the time you changed and I was so busy with Aurora that I failed to notice."

"We are brother and sister. What’s mine is yours at the end of the day, Regina. I want to make this house better for both of us and I will. I am so close to achieving that." he promised. All he needed to do was get someone outside of the house to back him against Minnie. He found a young lady whose family had the resources he would need and a man for Regina who would seal the deal for him to take over.

"When I get married, am I going to continue living here Samuel?" Regina turned to her brother to ask the question.

Samuel scoffed because it was common sense she would be living in her husband’s home once she gets married. "You think we will marry you off to a man who doesn’t have a house? Why would you stay here?"

"I quite like this house after spending all of my life here. Since you are promising to make this house better for both of us, don’t you think I should continue living here in the future to see the change you are promising? In fact, it would be nice if I owned half of it because as you said, what’s yours is mine. Tell me, Samuel, are you going to do that for me?" She asked.

Samuel didn’t like the idea Regina was proposing to him. It was custom for her to go live with her husband and this house would be for his future family. He knew his sister well enough to know the look in her eyes right now was something to keep an eye on.

"Let me ask you something else Samuel because I am completely over this family. Are you a good person? Don’t lie to me either."
