Chapter 141: Going forward (2)
Aurora innocently smiled while Cherry continued to hold her face to check for lies. "It did happen," she confirmed. Cherry’s mouth opened wider than what Aurora had ever seen from a lady. It was almost comical how she was reacting to the news. Cherry might pass out if she were to learn that Artemis showed up today.
"Hold up," Cherry released Aurora and placed her hand on her forehead to process what she was being told. How on earth could a visitor like Aurora almost kill someone in a high position like Marge? "You mean to tell me that I missed all of this excitement today? How did you almost kill her?"
Aurora repeatedly blinked her eyes, surprised by Cherry’s excitement to hear about what exactly happened. "I was told I almost hung her. I was kind of out of it for the most part."
Cherry cocked her head to the side, confused as to how everyone would have just allowed Aurora to wrap a rope or whatever around Marge’s neck and then try to hang her? Surely the guards would have attempted to stop her? "Did you carry something to do it already knowing that was what you were going to do? It doesn’t make sense how you would have been able to get to her and almost kill her. Can someone please explain?"
"I am also confused by how that could have happened," Victor stepped in just as puzzled as Cherry. "Did you use your abilities to do it?"
"Abilities? What abilities?" Cherry felt like she was back in school and the teacher was sprewing things she should already know but she hadn’t been paying attention. "Please tell me I am not the only one missing information about Aurora. It would make me feel a lot less stupid right now:"
"She tried to kill Marge by commanding a vine from one of the trees to hang her. Not all of us have witnessed or heard of her being able to do this. The brothers are the only ones who know what Aurora is capable of. How is it that you had Aurora here before but no one in our community besides you two knows something about her?" Derek directed his question to both Victor and Vincent. He had been meaning to ask this but forgot about it.
"He didn’t have her parading around when she was here in the past. She stayed inside of our home away from prying eyes and the witch’s spell worked well with no one hearing her speak when she was here. The only person that should remember Aurora beside us would be Cherry because she would barge in to see what we were up to. I wasn’t spending as much time with her as Vincent was but I only remember Cherry knowing," Victor recalled the past.
"Our old workers would know her. They were extremely loyal to our parents so they hadn’t informed anyone about Aurora being here. She came here long before Jane and Derek started working for me. Therefore they learned of her when I informed them of why I was watching the Hamiltons. Everyone understands it now or do you want me to write a book?" Vincent asked.
"Why are you always so grumpy brother? Aurora, why were you ever attracted to someone like this? You know, I would have been a better option," Victor said only to tease his brother. He could feel Vincent’s eyes burning a hole through his head. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"You liked her?" Cherry asked a little surprised. She hadn’t expected that Victor might’ve liked Aurora too.
"I’m kidding. I only want to make my brother annoyed. It’s fun when I get to mess with him. Moving away from Aurora, what do all of you plan to do with these two little children? Since you won the trial, are they going to stay with Vincent or is someone else taking them in?" Victor couldn’t picture his brother living with children because he kind of hated them. Aurora might want to keep them here and there was a possibility that Derek and Jane would want to take them.
Aurora glanced at Vincent who didn’t react to what Victor asked. She wasn’t even going to push the limit and ask him to let the children stay here with them. Besides, it was clear who the children should go with. Jane and Derek would be the best ones to take care of them. "They have developed a bond with Derek and Jane. If they are willing, they should take them."
"We would be honored to be the ones to watch over them and to be honest, we have already started planning what we will do while you were upstairs with Vincent. The only problem was who would watch them daily since there is no one we could trust." Derek hadn’t found the solution to this as yet but Jane said she had it figured out.
"Vincent, I would like to make a request. I would like to have my old job back so that I can work from home to watch over the little ones. I know you picked me to be her bodyguard since you-"
"Granted," he interjected, stopping her from having to plead her case. He understood how difficult it would be for them to find someone who wouldn’t have malicious intent for the humans. Even if there would be someone kind-hearted enough to do it, there would always be suspicion in the back of their heads.
"Really? Just like that? Whenever I told you I wanted to change my job to work from home you have always ignored me but yet you grant my wife it so easily?" Derek looked around the room flabbergasted by this. Had he known Vincent would have complied this easily, he would have asked before Jane did.
Jane felt a slight itch to smack her husband because she requested the change to benefit both of them and the little ones. When will he learn to stop trying to get away from his work? "I didn’t do this to slack off like you want to. I did it because we have no other choice. Have you not been paying attention to what has been going on sweetie?"
Derek felt a chill run through his body hearing Jane call him sweetie. She only did that when she was beyond irritated and he knew he was in for a lifetime of scolding when they home. "I’m sorry."
"How on earth did the two of you reach the stage of getting married? I only hear the two of you bickering with each other." Cherry saw Jane and Derek’s marriage as one of the most unsolved mysteries in the world. freewebnøvel.coɱ
"We prefer to keep our romance to ourselves. Why should we show it to you people who have never been in a long-term relationship to know what love is? I prefer to keep you in the dark about what real love looks like. All of you shall suffer besides Aurora."
"Right. Now that we have come to the conclusion of who will be taking care of them. I want to say this as respectfully as I can and I hope you don’t take any offense to it but get the hell out of my house," Vincent in his opinion nicely asked of them. He had enough of their presence for a day and most likely for the entire month.
"How was that polite Vincent?" Aurora smacked her forehead in disbelief.
Victor shook his head at his brother’s antisocial ways. "That was him being polite Aurora. I’m afraid you haven’t seen his true rude self as yet. I only came for a short visit anyway. I don’t want to stay long enough for him to start handing out work to me. Are you riding with me Cherry?"
"Yes. Goodbye, little ones. You must bring them to my home one of these days for me to make dresses for them. I’ll buy shoes as a welcome present for them being here. Nice to meet the two of you," Cherry rushed to hug the little children one last time before she had to leave with Victor. She wasn’t like any of the people here in the community and thought that many of the old rules and views werewolves had on the outside world should change by now.
’My savings will take a hit with all of these things I have to buy,’ Derek wept on the inside. He saw how much children’s things cost for many of his friends and now he was in that predicament. It meant he had to work twice as hard in the future to support four people even though Jane was working also.
"Why on earth are you crying?" Jane asked her husband after noticing him shed a few tears. Did the idea of Cherry making the girl’s dresses make him want to cry?
"I’m thinking about how much work I have to do in the future. It’s giving me nightmares already. Vincent, do you mind if we take your carriage and send it back?" Derek continued to sob.
Vincent folded his arms not having the patience to deal with Derek as Jane did. "If you ever feel like you want to divorce him, come to me immediately and I’ll approve it."
