Chapter 135: Lose control (1)

Aurora spent time last night when she couldn’t sleep reading some of the books Vincent had in the library. It was interesting to read the stories from both werewolves and humans talking about their love for one another. They spoke of an instant connection when they locked eyes that they couldn’t run away from. When the wars between kinds and supernatural creatures became worse, the entries from the couples decreased until there were no more.

Aurora figured the war had caused werewolves and humans to stop crossing paths. She wondered what happened to the humans who lived with the werewolves before the wars. What happened to their children? "You once coexisted with humans who did not intend to hurt you. These children were only following someone who had saved them at that time. They do not deserve to die here for what other humans did to you or anyone else here."

"I once lived amongst humans and if a werewolf child was brought to our town, I would never agree for the child to be killed. It would simply be a child and if the wolf child had come to the town to hurt someone then it must be out of desperation or orders from the people in charge like all of you. Adults are the ones to be blamed and they should be punished instead. How can you sleep at night after killing innocent children?"

"Like a baby," Marge grinned, standing up ready to pass her judgment on the children. She didn’t care about what Aurora or Jane had to say as long as she got to kill humans. Honestly, she would like to partake in the great hunt which was banned many years ago. "You are not going to convince us, elders, to save these children. Vincent, you might convince through some activities but you have to give up."

"Marge," Vincent said because of what she was insinuating. The woman always tried to throw unnecessary jabs at moments like this when it wasn’t called for. Yet, she always tried to scold him for the way he spoke.

"What? We’re thinking your relationship with her will cloud your judgment today. It might be best for you to sit this one out. I reject Aurora’s reasoning for keeping the children alive. What about everyone else?" She looked to her peers who would always agree with her decisions. She was the leader amongst the elders and whatever she said would always go.

"We reject the offer," both of the male elders said at the same time.

"Then there’s no need to hear your vote, Vincent. Prepare for a hunt," Marge ordered those that came to watch the trial. She moved from the table to go to the girls.

"Marge. You’re getting out of line today. I am still your leader at the end of the day. Do not lay a hand on those children," Vincent warned standing up. Though Marge was an elder she still needed to listen to him even though she thought she didn’t. "If you lay one finger on them without my command I’ll take pleasure in breaking off your fingers one by one."

"The decision has already been made. I can’t wait to smell your blood," Marge smiled down at the liking one’s making her canines grow to scare them. She felt an urge to paint the roads with the blood of the little children.

"Marge," Vincent started to approach the woman but halted when something odd happened. Everyone else present looked petrified at the sight before them. They had never witnessed such a thing in their lives but Vincent did. He knew the person behind what was happening. "Aurora, let her down."

Seeing Marge threaten the little ones, Aurora’s mind went blank and a vine from one of the trees covering the area had quickly wrapped around Marge’s neck to stop her from touching the little girls. As the vine tightened about her neck, it started to lift her off the ground to hang her. "The elders should be the people here with the most wisdom and understanding but none of you seem of the sort. Hello Vincent."

Vincent found Aurora’s personality and ability to be much different from what he saw in the last few days. Aurora right now did not move a muscle to command the vines to hurt Marge. "You..." He trailed off realizing that Aurora had woken up. "Let her go Aurora. Do not approach her," he ordered the guards as they were getting ready to stop Aurora from hurting Marge.

"Look at her struggling," Aurora chuckled looking up at Marge. "Just a second ago she was going to hurt those two little ones but look at her pleading with me to stop as she holds on to her fragile life. Is the judgment really over?" Aurora asked the two other elders who were surprised to see Marge struggling to claw out the vines from wrapping around her neck. Aurora brought the woman back down on her feet and loosened the vines a tiny bit.

"Why does everyone look so concerned right now? You were all having fun when she was throwing jabs but now that I am retaliating everyone is suddenly quiet. How boring," Aurora muttered. "You have no idea how boring it has been for me to be asleep all this time but thank you for the entertainment. I am going to be taking those little girls with me and I dare anyone to stop me."

Daggers with black flames appeared around Aurora like a shield protecting her from anyone who might want to hurt her. "I’m loving this expression you have, Vincent. Did you miss me a lot?"

"Let her go and we can talk about this calmly," Vincent said. It would be bad for Aurora to kill an elder even though Vincent was contemplating doing it himself.

"Why? She wanted to see someone die. I am granting her wish," Aurora grinned, making the vines tighten around Marge once again, and the woman become on the brink of passing out. "I should just-" Aurora blanked out when someone touched the back of her head. At the same time, Marge fell to the ground gasping for air now that Aurora wasn’t controlling the vines.

"Had I known the trial would be this fun I would have shown up earlier. My little pet seems to have woken up for a moment but don’t get too excited yet Vincent. She isn’t back to normal yet. Now, let’s see what we have here," Artemis made Aurora levitate while she inspected what was happening. "These are the two children," she got down to the little girl’s eye level to look into their souls. After a minute or two, Artemis found nothing to be bad or evil. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"These children are innocent. Let them go and they shall live freely amongst all of you," Artemis gave her judgment. She had the right to cast votes here but rarely showed up to do so. It was only thanks to Aurora’s begging that she was here now.

"But Goddess," Graham stood up not liking that the little girls would be able to walk free. He and several other people were looking forward to taking part in a hunt. "The elders have already made the decision to reject keeping the children alive. She might be one of your people but she just attacked one of our elders."

"When I say to keep the children alive it is final. Have my lack of visits made you forget who created your people and what helps you get stronger? I can make judgments not even Vincent can deny. All you want to have is the hunt again just for fun but let’s see how fun that would be when the humans start to retaliate for the humans being taken. And in regards to your elders, Aurora was right. They don’t seem so wise." Artemis wondered who appointed these three as the new elders when the three of them couldn’t come to a conclusion on their own.

"Vincent, it’s time for new elders to be picked because these ones seem quite useless. I listened to this entire thing and they didn’t respect the things their ancestors did, they hardly heard Aurora out, and before the trial, they had gotten together to make their decisions. You were not supposed to talk with each other before the trial. All three of you will be stripped from being the elders," Artemis hated people who didn’t do the job given to them properly and became a control freak.

"Understood," Vincent agreed with Artemis’s plan. The three elders had become less wise over the years. Marge sometimes abused her power and made judgments at trials to please certain people. He was glad Artemis was the one to dismiss them being elders.

"Do take care of my precious Aurora and not touch a hair on her head. She is still someone I care for just like I care for all of you," Artemis levitated Aurora over to Vincent for him to take her since she was still unconscious. "Please try to get along and stop calling me. It’s annoying. Later," Artemis disappeared into thin air.
