Chapter 236: Chapter 148: Li Wei, Can You Fly?
The next day, Anya and Sarah joined a yoga class at Fan Yan Resort.
The class was held on a cliffside terrace at the edge of the resort’s buildings. Huge red sandstone formations created a natural, semi-enclosed dome, perfectly positioned to catch the morning sun.
The air was still filled with the faint, slightly bitter scent of fir and frankincense incense. Accompanied by low-frequency meditation music, a dozen or so women stretched on their yoga mats.
The woman teaching the class was once again dressed in a solid-colored long dress, her hair woven into an intricate French fishtail braid. She looked to be only a little older than Anya, maybe in her twenties.
"Deep breaths, sisters. Feel the power of nature and empty your minds."
Dressed in yoga attire, Anya stood out starkly among the group of women in their vintage-style long dresses. She frowned at the other women as she held a downward dog pose.
"Very good. Feel your waist and hips opening up." The woman walked over to Anya and Sarah, speaking softly. "Women are like water; our bodies must remain utterly soft and submissive. You must understand, yoga is not just for health, but for the purification of our souls. A woman who knows how to yield and be flexible in body can better serve her husband in Spirit, bringing him pleasure in both body and mind. This is the natural duty the Lord has given us."
Sarah seemed to have slept poorly last night; there were faint, dark circles under her eyes. freeweɓnovel.cøm
She’d had a strange dream the night before, in which a humanoid ball of light in a white robe walked up to her and caressed her lower abdomen.
"You poor child," the woman said, gently placing a hand on Sarah’s seven-month pregnant belly. "You are undergoing a sacred transformation. Do not fear the pain of childbirth. Women are born with the original sin of Eve, who stole the forbidden fruit. Childbirth is a baptism of flesh and soul. Every excruciating pain of delivery expels the sin from your body. The more you give birth, the purer you become, and the more you will receive the Lord’s most unreserved affection."
"How can original sin possibly be cleansed through childbirth?"
’This is completely irrational,’ Anya thought, retorting loudly.
"Of course it can," the woman said with a nod. "Men represent God. They carry divine radiance and wisdom, while we are merely vessels to receive this radiance. If you read the true doctrines, the original intent of Abraham, Jacob, and even Jesus Christ was to tell us that polygamy is the divine order."
"Oh?" Anya scoffed. "And how many wives does your husband have?"
"Eighty-two at present," the woman said. "In fact, I am not only the Prophet’s wife, but also his sister, and his mother."
???
Anya and Sarah were both stunned by this statement.
’What does she mean she’s his wife, his sister, and his mother?’
"Jesus created Adam, and then for Adam, he created Eve. They are the progenitors of man and woman," the woman explained. "Therefore, women are meant to be dependent on men—that is, on the Prophet. The previous Prophet, our great father Byron, who led us to establish this Earthly Heaven amidst these red rocks, completed his earthly mission seven years ago. His twenty-seventh son, Warren, became the new Prophet, guiding us lost lambs."
"Wait," Anya interrupted, sharply seizing on her words. "You just said you’re his wife, his sister, and his mother. You mean..."
The woman replied nonchalantly, "Yes. It’s exactly as you think."
"After the young Warren became the Prophet," the woman continued, lost in recollection, "people had their reservations at first. But soon, a miracle occurred. Through prayer and fasting, Prophet Warren began to exhibit traits almost identical to the previous Prophet. The tone of his voice, the way he walked, even his habit of quoting scripture during sermons, became exactly like his father’s. It was as if he were his father’s perfect reflection on earth."
"Then," she said, her voice still calm, "one day, he announced that he had received a revelation from the Lord. He had inherited his father’s authority and responsibilities, and therefore, some of his father’s wives, whom he named, would be re-baptized and become his wives."
With that, she gestured to a few of the other women doing yoga. "It’s the same for several of us."
Several women of similar age and appearance stopped what they were doing and smiled at Anya and Sarah.
It was utterly absurd, and utterly horrifying.
Anya and Sarah were rendered speechless by a statement that so profoundly violated the very foundation of human ethics.
Sarah, whose nerves were already frayed from the late stage of her pregnancy, now felt a strong wave of physical nausea.
She subconsciously clutched her stomach as it churned violently.
"Don’t be afraid, sister," the woman said, bending down gently as someone quickly brought over a cup of tea. "Drinking this will make you feel better."
Sarah was half-coerced into drinking the tea by the woman, and she soon began to feel a little better.
Anya, however, decisively refused the strange tea. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
After the yoga class ended, Anya and Sarah couldn’t stop complaining, saying the people here were completely out of their minds and utterly ridiculous.
"They’re a bunch of complete lunatics," Anya said, walking quickly back while supporting Sarah. "This is just insane. Isn’t this just incest? And they’re using religion as a cover for polygamy. You never should have drunk that strange tea."
