Chapter 96: Chapter 96 Breaking Point
Author
Later that evening, Nadia and Alpha Enzo sat on opposite ends of the sofa.
Anthony heard about the attack. He was angrily pacing around the room. His hands clenched into fists as he turned to face his parents.
"Mom, how long will you defend Elara?" he demanded. "Today she attacks Selina with a belt. Tomorrow it could be worse!"
"I’ll never call her my sister!" Anthony’s face turned red. His voice cracked with emotion. "Dad, do something!"
If Dominic wasn’t the Alpha King, this would be easy to handle.
But now things were complicated. The family couldn’t control Elara anymore.
Alpha Enzo looked at his wife. His voice was tired, aged beyond his years. "Nadia, what should we do?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Nadia covered her face. Her shoulders shook as she was crying and struggling with her feelings.
"Enzo, we’re not close, but please don’t report this to the Council. Do it for me." Her words came out muffled through her tears.
"I’ll make it up to Selina somehow. I promise." She finally looked up, her eyes red and desperate.
This was the first time Nadia ever defended Elara.
Alpha Enzo lit a cigar. The smoke hid his face. He took a long drag, letting the silence stretch. "If we don’t involve the Council, then what?"
"What if she does something crazy again?"
Nadia cried for a while. She wiped her face with trembling hands. Then she finally spoke. "I’ll put a notice in the newspaper. She won’t be my daughter anymore."
"If it happens again, I won’t stop you. You can report her to the Pack Tribunal."
"Dad!" Anthony was really upset. "What about right now? Are we just letting her get away with this?"
Alpha Dominic’s protection meant Elara was untouchable.
Enzo knew challenging the Alpha King’s mate would bring his wrath down on their entire pack. Any chance of forming an alliance with the Wolfe Pack was dead now.
He put out his cigar. "Fine. We’ll do it your way."

Meanwhile, Orion spent the whole day looking for his aunt Elara. He was getting really worried.
He tried to reach Alpha Dominic, but got no answer.
So he called his father. Yardley picked up on the second try.
"What’s wrong, Orion?" Yardley asked. There was immediate concern in his voice. He thought his son was in trouble again.
"Dad, do you know where Aunt Elara is? She didn’t come home last night. I’m worried something bad happened to her. Alpha Zack won’t answer his phone..." Orion’s words tumbled out in a rush.
"She didn’t come home at all?" Yardley looked concerned. His business meeting suddenly seemed unimportant.
"No. Linda said Aunt Elara got a call and ran out!" Orion’s voice pitched higher with worry.
Yardley thought for a moment. He could hear the genuine fear in his son’s voice. "Okay. Don’t worry. I’ll find someone to look for her. I’ll send a driver to pick you up today. Be good."
"Fine," Orion said. But his tone showed he wasn’t satisfied.
"But Dad, you have to tell me when you find her."

After leaving the Vance house, Elara went straight to the hospital.
The doctors told her she couldn’t see her grandmother except during visiting hours. Visiting time was only at 3 PM.
Even then, she could only see her through a small video screen. Most ICU patients were unconscious anyway. But Elara wouldn’t leave.
She sat with her head down in the uncomfortable plastic chair, her body aching from exhaustion.
Hours passed like a blur. She barely noticed the nurses changing shifts or the families coming and going. until she saw a pair of expensive leather shoes.
Elara looked up. Her face got darker. "Yardley?"
Yardley gave her a bottle of water. "Sorry for hunting you down. Orion couldn’t find you. He was freaking out. I talked to your grandmother’s doctors. The next three days will decide if she gets better."
He waited a second before continuing.
He studied her face, noting the dark circles under her eyes. "Elara, have you told Dominic about your grandmother?"
Elara got tense. Her hands clenched the water bottle.
"Not yet." The words came out barely above a whisper.
She felt like she was drowning in everything that had happened. Too much happened too fast.
Yardley made a face. His expression was both understanding and stern.
"This is my assistant, Louis. You can use him for the next few days. But remember, Elara. You and Dominic are mates." He leaned forward, his voice carrying the weight of experience.
He didn’t say the rest, but she knew what he meant.
Mates didn’t hide from each other. Not about things this important.
