Chapter 99: Chapter 99

"Are we interrupting something?" Leeson asked in an amused voice when they caught up to them, earning him a frigid look from Cecil.

Cecil dropped Alois’ arm like it was on fire, then stepped away from him and crossed his arms. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Perry was oblivious to what was going on and was just happy to see Cecil again. "We’re really sorry for leaving without a word." He apologized with a deep bow.

Cecil frowned. "You did?" So much had happened that he didn’t even remember how they separated, all he could remember was Alois stealing him off.

At the other end of the crowd were Henri and the others. Henri and Dodie had gotten their medals at the same time as they both competed in the same sport. Nael and Errol also wore their medals, the crowd was starting to disperse, and it was time to say goodbye. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Henri was quick to leave, politely saying goodbye to the new friends he made, and skillfully evading Fleur’s reaching hands. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

Dodie gave him a bright grin, "Let’s have a race next time we meet." She offered, holding Fleur back from him.

This Henri could do, "Certainly, see you at the ball." He nodded, taking his leave.

Louis quickly said his goodbyes so he could walk Henri back to his dorm, Dio following suit.

Henri had made them carry all the balloon animals that they had dumped on him, so it was a little difficult to keep up with him while their hands were full. He moved so briskly that it had them wondering just how he could walk so quickly with his short legs.

Dodie went up to Audie while Fleur was saying her goodbyes to the Carew brothers. Valentin and Errol were the only ones who let Fleur pinch their cheeks as much as she wanted so they were easily her favorite.

"Not even going to give your sister a goodbye hug?" Dodie said in a much calmer tone, her arms held out.

Audie suspiciously eyed up her gesture and then reluctantly walked up to her. "Did you write to Elodie?" He asked, tolerating her hug for a few seconds.

Dodie patted her younger brother’s back and let him go. "No, she doesn’t know how to read." She said confidently.

Audie chuckled, relaxing a little. The only time they ever teamed up was against their oldest sister. Elodie had enlisted in the military but before she left, her favorite pastime was punting her siblings around. Literally.

Letters couldn’t be sent to soldiers in the military but he had asked anyway because it was one of the few things they could both talk about to each other.

"That reminds me, take care of Valentin, alright?" She added, looking up when Fleur called for her.

Audie frowned, wondering why his sister went out of her way to tell him that. He glanced at Valentin who was smiling at something Fleur was saying, his friend was... fine?

"Also, I put something on your back," Dodie added, smacking his head before dashing away.

Audie cursed and reached behind him, the telltale crinkle of paper told him that she had indeed stuck something on his back but it was at a spot that his hands couldn’t reach no matter how hard he tried.

"Let me help you with that." Valentin offered from behind him, pulling off the sticky paper with ease. "Want to head back to the dorms? It’s almost time for dinner." He added, tossing the blank but colorful paper over a shoulder.

Audie fell silent, leaning closer to get a better look at Valentin. "Say, is something the matter with you?" He asked bluntly, his sister’s words still bouncing around in his skull.

Valentin had to stop himself from stepping backward at Audie’s close scrutiny, his eyes going wide. "No? Why do you ask?"

"It’s nothing," Audie said, ending that line of conversation. "Let’s head back." He threw an arm around Valentin’s shoulders and started for the dorms.

The last to leave were Errol and Nael, the taller Alpha draped over the strawberry blonde-haired one.

"I see you got yourself a new boyfriend," Dodie said in her typical blunt manner, smacking Nael over the head as well. "I’ll jump on your shins if you hurt him." She pointed at the Alpha who rubbed his sore head, leaving with Fleur afterward.

Errol was tongue-tied, he realized after he could no longer see the silhouettes of the two Omegas that remaining quiet in the face of the accusation was the same as agreeing to it.

He had wanted to protest it, he had been about to as a matter of fact but he found himself thinking deeply about it. Other than taking it a further step in intimacy, what he had with Nael was exactly what he hoped to find in a relationship in the first place.

So was he actually in a relationship with Nael and he just didn’t know it? He slowly looked to Nael to gauge his reaction to what Dodie had said.

Nael looked just as calm as always, patiently waiting for Errol to make the call for them to leave.

"We are not in a relationship, right?" He chuckled nervously to try to dissolve the tense atmosphere.

A slow smile formed on Nael’s face, his hazel gold eyes bright. "You heard Dodie, I don’t want my shins broken."

"Wait, what?" Errol panicked, letting Nael pull him in the direction of the dorms.

"Let’s go get dinner." Nael suggested, ignoring the weight his words held.

"I don’t think dinner is the most important thing right now," Errol said frantically, still having a hard time wrapping his head around what was happening.

Nael positioned their hands so that they were walking arm in arm. "We’ll talk over dinner then, how’s that?"

This only made Errol’s nerves more fraught, he had been expecting Nael to say it was all a joke but it got more serious the more it went on. "Fine." He accepted, a strange fluttering in his middle.
