Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Cecil turned to glare at him, only to falter at the drowsy look in Alois’ eyes and his little confident smile. And maybe not bleaching his hair for so long was starting to affect him because his gaze was drawn to Alois’s lips, completely forgetting the question that he was asked.

"Staying here isn’t going to help us find him either." Leeson said impatiently, his voice growing distant. "I want to catch a fish too."

"Wait!" Perry called, "I want to catch another one!"

"Don’t be greedy now..."

Their voices quickly trailed off and it soon got quiet in the tent, Alois grimacing at what was to come.

He lifted his head up slightly to put some distance between them. "I know you want to hit me but remember that violence doesn’t solve anything." He quickly tried to placate him.

Cecil blinked, looking like he just broke out of a haze. He threw his arms around Alois’ neck to keep him from escaping and Alois was already bracing himself for a headbutt.

He had just wanted to pull Cecil’s legs a little, he hadn’t expected Perry and Leeson to show up, trapping him inside the tent. He closed his eyes and cringed slightly, his panic building when Cecil still made no move.

He opened his eyes just as Cecil leaned up to join their lips together, his eyes also opening.

The horror on Cecil’s face was palpable but before he could recover, Alois chased his lips to take another kiss.

He still fully expected Cecil to drive his knee into his middle but that didn’t stop him from threading his fingers through Cecil’s hair to pull him close; what was romance without a little danger?

Cecil’s hair was softer now, no longer damaged and brittle, the dark roots getting longer. Alois hadn’t expected him to actually keep to their agreement.

Even more than that, he hadn’t expected Cecil to kiss him. Alois might have sketchy morals but he wouldn’t use coercion as a means of getting the person he was attracted to.

It was why he kept his hands off Cecil all these weeks although he had full rights to do whatever he wanted. But Cecil kissing him first had flipped the table over, there was no more hiding under the ruse of punishments or games.

Cecil broke away from the kiss first to catch his breath. Alois clearly had no knowledge of chaste or subtle, damn near choking Cecil with his tongue.

He thought that Alois had grown bored of him, he was an Alpha after all. He probably meant what he said about kissing him being nothing but a punishment. Cecil was the delusional one here, he was the one that had spent every day waiting for Alois to kiss him again so why was Alois undoing the buttons of his shirt and hungrily kissing down the column of his neck?

"A-Alois," Cecil gasped, holding onto his wrists. "What if the others return?" freewebnøvel.com

Mischief danced in Alois’ forest green eyes. "So that’s all you’re worried about?" He taunted.

Cecil reddened. "That’s not... don’t put your hands in my..." His complaints were cut off by another kiss.

"Henri! Look, I caught another fish!" Louis called to Henri from the deep part of the lake. The lake was a distributary of the river that coiled through the entire forest, it was big enough for them not to be able to see the other end.

Henri smiled placidly as he watched them as they frolicked shirtless in the lake, he wondered how they still managed to catch any fish, considering how raucous they were being.

Henri just sat on an elevated edge of the lake, dipping his feet in and wishing he could go for a swim like the others but he couldn’t bring himself to take off his shirt and join them. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

It was exasperating because he was already sweaty enough for the cotton shirt he had on to start to stick to him and would give a lot for a cozy bathtub filled with cool, scented water.

Louis waddled over, his pants legs were rolled up high but it didn’t help much as he was drenched from head to toe, his tawny hair darker when wet.

"Are you oka..." He started to ask only to trail off and freeze, his sea-blue eyes widening. There was an odd sweet scent that he had never smelled before and it seemed to be coming from Henri.

Henri frowned when Louis refused to come closer. "Did you step on something sharp?" He asked in concern, making a move to get on his feet.

"No, no need to get up, I’m fine." Louis quickly said, waving his hands.

Henri got even more suspicious but he sat down once again. "You’re still not moving." He pointed out.

Louis forced himself to take a step forward, the scent getting stronger with each step he took. "Are you okay sitting here? You can take a dip in the lake if you want" He offered, crouching beside Henri.

Henri bent over to scoop a handful of the clear water, wishing he could but he just didn’t feel comfortable doing it right in front of everyone else. "Maybe I should go back to the tents." He said, more to himself than to Louis. At least the tent would provide some shade from the hot noon sun.

Louis was barely paying attention, his nose scrunching up from the weight of Henri’s scent, it was like candy and flowers. He didn’t always smell like this, what changed?

"Louis, Jann is calling you." Henri shook him out of his thoughts as he got out of the water to put on his boots.

Louis turned around to see his classmate waving an even bigger fish at him. They wouldn’t be able to keep all the fishes they caught or they would all go bad, so after flaunting his catch for everyone to see, Jann let the fish go.

"Henri, wait! Let me walk you back." Louis offered, following after him.

"You don’t have to, the campsite isn’t that far away." Henri stated the obvious.

"My skin is starting to wrinkle from being in the water too long." He lied through his teeth. "I could use the walk."

Henri shrugged, letting Louis do what he wanted. Louis had been the one to invite him to the lake after all, maybe he felt guilty that Henri didn’t look to be having much fun.

Louis however, was thinking nothing along those lines. He was stressed out trying to figure out the perfect way to bring up the matter of Henri’s scent.
